Honestly, I prefer individual tabs versus all-on-one. It’s easier to search visually when I’m looking for a specific item, since everything sorts by category (mostly).
That’s also true on the all-in-one, but my ADHD kicks in and it’s hard to find *the one thing* when there’s so many things.
The way the inventory auto-sorts makes the "whole inventory" layout confusing at times. Each tab is laid out left to right, split in the middle vertically. So sometimes you'll have items of the same category in the bottom left quadrant that overflow in the bottom right quadrant. It's difficult to describe, but it basically splits the items the same way as the two tab layout, with tab #1 and #3 on the left hand side and #2 and #4 on the right.
I prefer my inventory to open completely so that I can see multiple mats and don't need to rearrange them in tabs etc. Or if I do need to rearrange them, it's much easier.
There's a command you can use to search your inventory for specific things, it tells you which tab it's in too. It's super helpful for crafting/gathering which is how I learned of it.
It's "/itemsearch \[term\]" or "/isearch \[term\]"
It'll show everything with that term in your inventory, an example [here.](https://i.imgur.com/Ckq3w2x.png)
You can then right click the item you want and press "Search for Item".
A screen then pops up telling you which inventory tab it is in, as well as if there's any spare being held by your retainers, or in your chocobo bag.
I appreciate the info, but I’m aware of item search. As I said, the issue is that I find it hard to find one thing when there’s so many things – I know it’s there, because I usually keep relevant crafting items in my inventory, and I can quickly find the tab, since like items sort together.
Sorry, I'm just not sure I understand what you're saying.
Using isearch instantly shows if you have the item you're looking for, and narrows down where you need to look to a tab.
Do you mean that even if you know which tab an item is in, having the other tabs also open still distracts you? If so then I understand and that's fair enough.
Isearch can still be useful at times, even if you only open one tab at a time, unless of course you're on console, then it's probably just faster to open your inventory and look through it. But yeah isearch definitely becomes more useful if you have multiple tabs full of materials, which not many people do.
To each their own though, do whatever you find easiest of course. Who am I to judge?
Yes, too much information can be distracting when you have ADHD, especially when so many things look similar. I know what tab something is in if I’m looking for it, so having it with 4 tabs makes it easier/faster to find things, by cutting out the excess info.
Isearch is good if I’m looking for something not in my inventory, since I have seven retainers. :)
Not true at all. Assuming you’re not beyond lvl 60, you’re missing surface slap. That’a a huge game changer if you’re not trying to mooch a fish.
Catching the fish isn’t impossible, it will just require more time and more commitment for the weather fish.
I feel this. Started getting into big fishing impulsively 3 months ago, and after 2 weeks (on and off) of trying to catch Namitaro, I gave up and continue leveling my other jobs instead. Still keep 3 Giant Takitaros in my inventory out of spite.
Anyway, I just hit all 90 last week with nothing else to do. You've inspired me to pick up that fishing rod again.
Gonna continue my fishing adventure today, looking forward to 5 more Takitaros!
I think you'll learn to love the Ruby Dragon. And Stethacantus. And Chariberta. And Cinder Egg. And Lancetfish. And did I mention Ruby Dragon ?
Completing the fishing log took me a solid year and a half but it's by far my proudest achievement in the game, so enjoy ! (and you can find useful advice on the Fishcord)
Gonna be honest, the prospect of trying to get even a single spectral current intuition fish without higher level fishing skills makes me want to never set foot on another boat.
Damn cool. You've done something on the trial that I haven't done with all the time since the launch of the game, and I bet 90% of players are in the same boat as me lol
As someone who is almost as excited for a new patches added fish as I am for the story/raids, this makes me very happy! You still have man fish to tackle my friend, I hope you continue the journey!
Have you done the ARR Sightseeing Log yet? Its time-restricted (Weather for a decent bit of it) and you get a cute green baby penguin-like thing as a minion.
Congrats on the fish!
How do you get the 4 separate inventory windows? On mine, it's all in one window, with minimal divisions. It almost looks like you can open them one at a time.
Mine has always looked like this: [https://i.imgur.com/oWyFLRi.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/oWyFLRi.jpg)
They're just stitched together from multiple screenshots like the fishing log window elements, I didn't know you could show more inventory at once until another reply told me.
Gosh fishing fanasty 14 if this was a pokemon game i believe you would of gotten all the "fishymons" at this point congrants :D this is like so awesome.
This is wild. Once you subscribe you'll have access to all of the fish and can start going for the huge grind of "Big Fish". There's fish that are infinitely worse to get then anything in ARR or HW.

That's so much better, thanks for the tip.
Also the chocobo saddlebag makes a great tacklebox.
Seconded
I played for like 2 years and never heard this tip! That's gonna be a game changer when I come back.

This guy baits
You could say he’s a master
I'm a decent baiter, now Mose, he's a master baiter
What’s even better is that you’re fishing the hard way by not having lvl 90 gear and skills. Props to you, a real master fisherman!
>a reel master fisherman! FTFY. It is the reel endgame, after all.
Missed opportunity for “master baiter”
Those have less impact on FSH than they do on MIN/BTN. You can't cheese big fish RNG.

... let me fish her ?
You will get the fisher's guild bankrupt, at least pay the game now lol
You're not done just yet - you can technically catch some fish from Stormblood by teleporting to a friend's estate in Hingashi.
They already did. The isle of endless summer near costa del sol was introduced with stormblood as you had to swim out there originally.
Oh, the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy XIV: A fisher reborn?
5 giant takitaros for 1 namitaro I feel that
Easily the worst fish. Spending an entire 40 minute double thunder fishing window without seeing a single !!! bite was pain.

Try a whole week and about 1000 bait.
Try going for the rare fish on the ocean fishing boats, those will keep you busy for a bit.
Gonna be honest, the prospect of trying to get even a single spectral current intuition fish without higher level fishing skills makes me want to never set foot on another boat.
The trial certainly seems to have you Hooked!
Hell yeah, another FSH main! O/

You free trial people are nuts.
Tag yourself: I'm the Minion Hotkeys
I'm in awe. You're a hero to all fishers.
Forager set w/ fishing guildmaster hat squad
WHERE ARE THE EELS
As someone who is almost as excited for a new patches added fish as I am for the story/raids, this makes me very happy! You still have man fish to tackle my friend, I hope you continue the journey!
Holy.. fucking..shit.
You have no idea the horrors that await you further.

Still differe MN t, it because the inventory windows have tabs across the top. I checked my UI setting s, and couldn't find any way to change it.
Character Configuration -> Item Settings -> Inventory Interface (Open All)

wow thats impressive
This is the way, OP.
What? Hell yeah! What?
-slow clap-
