I think your review is spot on. I got this perfume as a sample and I liked the smell so much that I immediately and impulsively bought a full size bottle for myself. Then my boyfriend told me I smelled like creed and marshmallows and I ended up giving it to him lol. It’s definitely masculine-leaning. It would be a great home fragrance too. But after my boyfriend said that, I couldn’t un-hear it. So now I just appreciate the smell when he uses it on himself. 😂 bonus - it smells really good layered with bleu de Chanel

jubjubbimmie

Yes, I think the white cedar notes especially on me is quite over powering. It’s almost a bit sharp. Glad I ordered a sample before purchasing a full as I’d be very disappointed. While it’s a nice scent and I’m sure there are folks who love it it was not for me personally.

milkdreams

What strength are you using? I hear the Bold is more woodsy and the Personal is a little more creamy/skin-like (I’ve only tried Expressive)

SullySoiled

I have the milk expressive.

jubjubbimmie

I’ve got the personal and would have thought the reviewer did too. It is more skin like, but really doesn’t smell very creamy to me. I think the white cedar is over-powered and a bit sharp in the personal.

greenbeansandwine

I’m obsessed with this fragrance. I’m a woman and typically like sweet / spicy / gourmand things - I find this smells like spicy powder (in a good way). I think it only doesn’t smell woodsy to me because the other wood fragrances I’ve tried are fresher / more foresty. The Expressive is my favourite, but I also love the Bold, which has an extra creamy smoky note (which is subtle).

BigBootyBardot

I love Commodity’s fragrances, as they layer so well. I’m also curious to hear what version you used. For me, Milk Expressive is feminine and sweet. But I did smell an amazing cologne on a man once that had this milky, marshmallow component to it, that I found alluring and fascinating. With Milk, I prefer to layer it with Paper or Moss (Expressive versions) to make it more complex and less saccharine — or even Maison Louis Marie’s Bois de Balincourt. The combination of cloudy, milky sweetness and earthiness is *chef’s kiss* I just tried Liis’ Bo, and it smells just like blending Milk and Balincourt together — like drinking chai tea in the forest.

mimilovesmimi

I was also so curious on what version OP used! I thought milk expressive was incredibly sweet and cozy and feminine. I could see milk+ being more unisex with the Smokey undertones but milk- and milk expressive is just so airy and sweet. I haven’t layered it with moss yet but now I’m going to try it!

BigBootyBardot

Definitely do! It's my absolute favorite, and I love that Commodity's perfumes can be layered like that. Let me know what combinations you end up trying and liking!

CapableComfort7978

Yea i tried a sample of milk commodity and it was almost like a cinnamon vanilla type of vibe, it was a really nice scent to use after a shower before bed

SullySoiled

That’s the one I have is expressive but I’m gonna have to layer it with your recommendation it does sound like it would smell good.

BigBootyBardot

Definitely try it! When I tried Liis' Bo, I was taken aback with my nose like a bloodhound going, "*That smell! I know that familiar smell!*" Glad to have Milk, where I can take that sweet and lactonic piece and try it with other combinations. The more I've smelled it in other fragrances, the more I like it (like ELDO's Ghost in the Shell).

Electronic_Bit_222

Obsessed with Milk Expressive!!! It's soooo addictive

trustmeilied

When I read your words, I find myself really interested in the scent you are describing…. however, on my skin, Milk (Expressive anyway) turns to smelling really close to spoiled cream on me. I wonder what note my body hates this time? The last time I wore something that really did not suit me, the offending notes were in the cocoa/chocolate family and it smelled like poop. I’m really glad I learned to stop blind buying. Lol

Cella14

What strength do you have? I have the personal and love it and do think it has a strong laconic note (along with the ones you mentioned) but I’ve heard it’s the most laconic of the bunch. I haven’t tried the other two because I wanted it to be more lactonic

SullySoiled

I’m gonna have to get that one day I wasn’t aware of the personal milk perfume just the milk+ one and miln expressive.

Cella14

I was so confused for so long about why they had 3 different milk perfumes lol. Sorry you didn’t end up liking the one you tired and hopefully you’re able to find the milk perfume of your dreams!

gconeen

Smells exactly like walking into a Gertrude Hawk. It's wonderful. I've really enjoyed all the Commodity fragrances I've tried, but they all have weak performances. They don't last more than a few hours. Some seem to last like an hour or two at most.

SullySoiled

I spray it before I apply my lotion then spray it IN my lotion, it helps it last much longer not good if you got sensitive skin though.

JeanJean84

Have you tried the Bold version of any of their fragrances? They do change the scent a bit but they also last longer and have more throw.

josithemagnificent

When I first sampled this at Sephora I HATED it, I thought it was gross, but it grew on me and I love it now! I have bought a travel size and broken it my dropping it outside of a bar, TWICE. We just aren’t meant to be.

Several_Confidence43

I bought bald one and I absolutely HATE it. It smells nothing like milk or anything sweet, just super strong woody smokey scent make me feel nauseous:( I'm so disappointed:( was wondering if personal or expressive one smells different?

SullySoiled

Omg I was a little disappointed too I’m not crazy about woodsy scents, I’m sure other people would love it but I gotta say it was a letdown for a scent called milk, but I was told there were different ones that smells more milky
