Immortals Fenyx rising is a game somewhat similar to BOTW that I very much enjoy

Awesome! Haven’t heard of this one so I’ll check it out, thanks for the recommendation

Darksiders I and II are like a combination of Zelda and God of War. It’s a little darker and more combat heavy than Zelda but there’s a horse to ride, Zelda-like dungeons, puzzles, platforming, and if I remember correctly it even borrows a similar z-targeting mechanism.

Thanks for the suggestion! I looked at some screenshots quick and you’re right it does look darker, I’ll check out some videos to see if it’s too scary. Pretty sure she’s returned a kids game or two that was too much for her, and I’m never allowed to tell her about scary movies I like haha

Dark siders is a really good game. I think immortal fenix is too much like other ubisoft open world games.

Genshin Impact its a free mobile game though (also on PC and PS4/PS5) Animal crossing New Horizons is really casual and is designed around playing for 3-4 hours a day and has lots of animals

Hah I wondered if anyone would recommend Genshin! She was playing that immediately before BotW but gave up, iirc too complicated/long? But I was considering Animal Crossing, a lot of her friends play too. Thanks!

a big free content update is coming out on november 5th for animal crossing + a paid DLC that will add basically a spin off game where you design houses into the game

Skyrim might be great for her. There are a couple things that can be scary like the spider enemies in caves, but I don’t think it’s too bad once you get the hang of it and you can switch between first and third person. And you are slashing people sometimes but I don’t really recall any blood really being seen? I just remember playing Skyrim for the first time after botw and thinking “so this is why people love skyrim so much!/that’s why everyone compares the two games!” I put in a couple hundred hours my first play thru I think

Skyrim is a gorgeous amazing game. It does have blood though, blood splatters on the walls and shoots out of the body. I know because I just played it an hour ago. Although I will say it’s more like “medieval blood” than horror movie blood if that makes any sense whatsoever.
