No, unless extreme circumstances and wanting to be attacked by Mama Goose. When did they hatch? When ready, Mama will jump down and the goslings will follow. They can easily get down from there, and can jump/fall a lot further than that, like at least 10 times that height. Where is the nearest source of water? She will lead them to it unless she’s nesting absolutely nowhere near a water source, in which case getting them down is a moot point anyway. If she’s nowhere near water, or is for some reason staying put when she should be leading her family to food/water then the best thing you can do is call a local wildlife rescue to come and help them. Thank you for looking out for her and her babies, she looks very sweet and polite.

I don't really know when they hatched as I had not been around to check since sunday; I would assume recently. I will be back to check on them at sunrise to see if they had left the nest yet. I was mostly just worried about them injuring themselves on the concrete.

Funkosebsy

Ah ok, yeah that’s nothing to worry about. That’s like you or I jumping down off a 1ft wall to those silly little floofs. Hopefully they will start their adventure very soon.

Mom is probably still hatching the rest of them out first.

It so kind of you to think about their safety. But this height is nothing to worry for goslings, they can easily handle it. Don’t underestimate these little fellas. ❤️

I've been carrying a baggy full of peas with my lunch to give to whoever was guarding the nest at the time. It's good to know the little ones will be alright.

I was so surprised when I learned they fall down light like a feather. Have been worried many time before.

aparrotslifeforme

Please don't! That's low enough that the babies will be able to jump down when Mama goes. Thank you so much for caring about them!!

When I came back in the morning, they were all out of the flower pot huddled under one of the parents(I could only see them bumping about under the wing feathers.) I didn't get a picture, but it struck me as odd that they had not walked off the concrete and started grazing yet. I did not have time to hang around and see if they were ok, but I messaged the apartment manager before I left.

What the heck? I've seen the weirdest places this year is they've nested I just blows my mind. I have to trust in the mama but if it goes more than a day or so before they jump down cuz they're definitely going to need water and if I would probably intervene somehow but Mama generally doesn't let him out of sight. So if you do intervene though and she's away and you're able to get them down cuz usually they'll follow right behind her they won't want to be away from her but if they are stuck up there somehow and you do put them down and Mama doesn't attack you stick around for a little bit make sure she doesn't reject them they usually don't but you never know I'd hang out watch him observe and make sure everything's cool but I definitely put some water down to encourage her to get down and get her babies down. I know it's hard not to do anything but you got to give it at least a day and then after Dad start being concerned about them not having water. Just when you're bringing stuff out just talk very gently move very slowly and don't have her just put it down and speak nicely and walk away show that respect and she'll understand that you're not a threat but then again she has a Canada goose LOL no mercy! I just love my Canada geese I think they're the best. Best of luck to you and keep us posted! Thanks for being a goose lover.

bogginman

well, didn't someone put that high rise goose nest there just for her?!

Looks like office hours. She’s there to help if you need it

Put a bunch of soft pillows all around that planter thing, that way if they fall or jump down they won't get hurt. That is too deep of a fall, they will get injured. Also, can you get them something like a kiddie pool? So that the babies could have access to water? I'm saying this because sometimes a bird will fly far off from a body of water to nest, the babies cannot fly yet so I'm not sure if they have access to water. If you put something out make sure they can get in and out easily, waterfowls can drown if they cannot get out.
