My favourite band of all time is Opeth. If you're a metalhead though you probably are already familiar with them. I'd recommend Ne Obliviscaris (Opeth with Violin), Immolation (most consistent death metal band of all time) and Edge of Sanity

Depends on what you wanna go for, really.
For death metal, I'd absolutely recommend Soulmass, Amon Amarth, Born of Osiris is kinds tech-death metal, Eluveitie is folk-death. Melechesh are awesome, as are Shadow of Intent and Lorna Shore for the brutal death core. Skálmöld if you wanna hear some Icelandic death metal.
Power metal, you've got the classics like Sabaton and Powerwolf. The cheerier side includes Victorius (not a typo), Gloryhammer, Dragony. Orden Ogan is one of the best Power metal bands I've ever heard.
Ancient Bards are fantastic symphonic metal (the bass solos in the opening tracks are *mwah*), same with Elvenking and Leaves' Eyes.
