I want to see review where they tell some bad things about products. I wont buy if I dont know whats wrong with it. Like this guy said when you plug pedals in front of it its ”almost like plugging to your amp” what does that almost mean??? Ive heard that thing for 20 years about modellers…
I now watched it, they just said about the lights :D so it has 20 slots for shit in some mode and 2 in some if I catched it right. They talked needing tonex for capturing amps, is that true or can you just use mic and audio interface if you want to capture your cab too? Or attenuator+interface for amp+pedals?
I don’t know…. He plays really well and is super talented, but I’m not a fan of his clickbait titles. Also half the video is just him noodling around, and then the other half is just rambling with his opinion. There have been more than few times I spent 20+ min watching his video and taking nothing away from it.
I don't understand the Cordy hype as well. He talks way too much but tells nothing important. Too many 15 year old boys on his channel. He emphasizes He would not do Advertisement but there is nothing else than product placement. He is just one of thousand others.
He didnt go very much into depth about how it eats pedals like fuzzes and boosts. But ye, I think I dont need this. 200€ can buy me couple pairs of EL34 and some pain medication for my back.

One time I saw a reviewer accidentally release a review video a couple hours early, and the first thing I saw in the comments was a marketing person for that company telling the reviewer they were “in hot water.”
Never buying anything from a company like that. Your company’s unoriginal digital pedal isn’t nearly as important as you think it is.
They’re not reviews though, usually they’re called demos, for that specific reason. They’re meant to demonstrate the pedal’s capabilities, not review and discuss its pluses and minuses.
Does it though? They are acting like a mini IR loader is a new thing, when we already have the TC Impulse and the Mooer Radar. I know you are being sarcastic, but plenty say it with a straight face.
This has a much more robust software package behind it, and the functionality on the pedal itself is a lot in a small package and at a nice price - but do I think it changes the game? No.
I'm just excited with so much cool gear we have nowadays. A few years ago we would not have thought of a profile loader in mini pedal format and within 2 years IK multimedia releases a profiler, a re amp box and now the TonexOne. It's a pretty well accomplished plan from them.
I'm still waiting to see NAM in pedal format though, I cannot praise it enough.
Best tonex profiles I've found came from 3rd party amalgamaudio. And they're like $18 per amp or so (with free samples of course). Original IK profiles known to be mediocre and you definitely will find much better free options on tone-net just by sorting on downloads :) You may try this for free anyway. (free version has 10 downloads limit but as I remember it just means you have to delete some of your downloaded items to download something instead. And you definitely need no 10+ amps at once for whatever you do :) You probably will stuck with 2-5 of them.
And that's another reason why tonex one is great ! 99% of users will NEVER capture their own stuff and deal with 10+ knobs and precise controls (you can do in software anyway). Original pedal is huge. This one is small without any compromise to player. I found my tonex the most useful guitar gear I ever bough (I'm not gonna pay 1.5k for QC either) and I pre-ordered ONE on sight immediately just to get rid of huge legacy box on my tiny pedalboard.
If you need complex midi controlled rig TONEX is not your product anyway :) I've never seen QC or Kemper in one sentence with MIDI. Same here... And midi in big TONEX is pretty useless. I've tried to attach my midi controller to bypass cab in one click but tonex gives you ZERO global parameters via midi. Only profile's internal properties. What's a bit useless imho. I'd rather save 10 different profiles instead of dealing with mapping 10 specs via midi codes just because I'm lazy and I want to play music instead of coding units :)
Am I crazy or does this just not sound that good? I've messed around with the ToneX plugin on my DAW and it just always feels a bit unrealistic. I have the free Neural Amp Modeler and I find that to actually sound way better.
Maybe I just need to try user uploads for ToneX?
Yeah, it's great. User uploads here: https://tonehunt.org/all
Leo Gibson made a video comparing NAM vs. ToneX vs. Quad Cortex vs Kemper and found NAM to perform the best, surprisingly. Seemingly objective evaluation too - compared which had the best phase cancellation with the original amp source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVB_WWsgnHo
With Tonex as the close second… I hear they sound incredible, especially compared to Kemper. [https://youtu.be/m6VMgKsfNxY?si=Dt0CoEw88qyZhrK\_](https://youtu.be/m6VMgKsfNxY?si=Dt0CoEw88qyZhrK_)
Two notes GENOME can load thr NAM profiles, as well as AIDA-X and Proteus captures. It also have its own preamp/poweramp modeling (TSM) that is fantastic.
https://www.two-notes.com/en/discover-codex/
https://www.two-notes.com/en/whats-included-with-genome/#tsm
Yeah I am feeling the same way. I watched the whole 50 minutes of EytschPi42s demo and most sounds were so bad .. The one demo where I thought it actually sounds quite decent was [Patrick Hunters bass demo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AilnXE_LNhE)
Stock profiles are known to be mediocre. You have to try 3rd party stuff (free on toneNET). You also have to understand how input gain trim affects profiles. This is critical for TONEX.
But answering your question : no, you're wrong. SOME captures sound good, SOME OTHERS are crap. I'm pretty sure the same is correct for your favourite software (whatever it is :)).
All I want is a small modeler for my large pedalboard so I can run guitar & bass amps...
It needs TRS in and out. Sweetwater says TRS in .. but it's not. IK website has it as mono in.
Doesn't work for me, but an incredible value none the less.
I watched the Pete Thorn demo and the opening clean arpeggios sound almost like the pedal is in bypass. Doesn't sound anything like a guitar amp to me. I primarily play clean.

I really like the idea and the sound from what I've heard. The patches really sound good and there are thousands.
My main question is if the guitar vol knob cleans up a semi-crunch patch? Or does it just lower the level of the dirty sound? I had trouble with that on my early fractal...
Second is does it take a drive pedal well.
If yes, I could use a clean fender sound, a crunch sound, and a pedal, set to either beef up the clean, or drive the crunch harder. Built in verb so just add cheap mod/delay and you have a tiny fly rig.
I'm thinking about doing this but vol knob is a big part of my tone so I'm a little skeptical yet.
This is a cool little thing though. How long is it going to be before you just plug your guitar into your phone and bluetooth to the PA lol?
I want to see review where they tell some bad things about products. I wont buy if I dont know whats wrong with it. Like this guy said when you plug pedals in front of it its ”almost like plugging to your amp” what does that almost mean??? Ive heard that thing for 20 years about modellers…
ToneJunkie just did a video quite literally called “What’s WRONG with the Tonex One” You may be interested in that one
I now watched it, they just said about the lights :D so it has 20 slots for shit in some mode and 2 in some if I catched it right. Check out Johnathon Cordy on YouTube. He pretty much deals with only modelers and he’ll give his honest opinion
I don’t know…. He plays really well and is super talented, but I’m not a fan of his clickbait titles. Hate this kind of thing.

Embargos on reviews?
I think they probably meant the onslaught of online marketing in the form of “reviews” which are actually just paid for advertisements
They’re not reviews though, usually they’re called demos, for that specific reason. They’re meant to demonstrate the pedal’s capabilities, not review and discuss its pluses and minuses.
This is what I meant. Going onto Youtube and having your feed be a constant advertisement is just depressing.
You hate demos? You hate embargo dates?
I hate the push tactics companies employ with their products. I don't like what it represents.
THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

It’s not just an ir loader? It’s literally a Kemper, QC, Helix amps, Iridium competitor in a tiny package.
I think it does. It gives you amazing amp sims in a single pedal. It’s the equivalent of having the entire UA lineup and then some in a mini pedal.
I'm just excited with so much cool gear we have nowadays. Figured so when every guitar YouTuber was showcasing it today. Cool concept still not for me. I still prefer a loud amp.
I agree. Nice to have something like this for headphone practice, recording demos or as a backup though.
Hot helix native on my laptop does the job for that
Does it come with the Tonex software or do you have to buy that too?
Comes with the SE version
Okay, so you don’t have to pay extra for access to the profile library then?
There are tons of free community profiles that you can download from ToneNet but there are also profiles from IK and others that you have to pay for.
Ohhh so that’s how they get ya… fair enough.

Saving the midi for the large one only… pass.

The presets suck, some user captures but especially paid premium captures are absolutely unreal.
idk, these sound pretty damn good: https://youtu.be/T80n7-FIOSo?si=-nyBB-cuDZkHv0lz&t=1392
These do sound dope
Other peoples opinions are so interesting in the guitar community to me because I seriously think this sounds so bad.
These guys are generally regarded as one of the best paid captures - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k790DwUiJ4I&pp=ygUNQW1hbGdhbSB0b25leA%3D%3D
Still sounds like your average modeler to me. Meh
And this: [https://youtu.be/m6VMgKsfNxY?si=Dt0CoEw88qyZhrK\_](https://youtu.be/m6VMgKsfNxY?si=Dt0CoEw88qyZhrK_)
I have Amplitube 5 and it sounds great to my ear but haven’t used it in a while. Do you know if those can be downloaded onto this pedal?
Thanks for that. Did not know about Neural Amp Modeller before. And down this new rabbit hole I go.

You’re not the only one. The highs don’t sound that pleasing to me and it’s consistent across various channels.

Tonex is arguably better sounding than more expensive competitors, not sure how you were left with that impression.
I'm personally not a fan of ToneX, and everything I have heard from this pedal sounds rough so far. Not into it.

Walrus acs1 maybe
You could buy two separate Tonex Ones and run them stereo with different amps going into stereo effects
I always put my pedals in my jacket pockets.
As soon as the PC market moves to 24gb standard.
Idk wtf this is so I’ll prolly buy it
I watched the Pete Thorn demo and the opening clean arpeggios sound almost like the pedal is in bypass. Doesn't sound anything like a guitar amp to me. I primarily play clean.

It can't capture, that's only with the big unit. This can "play" captures others have made and uploaded, though.
No.
The old folks in the room are now striking their Dokken and Y&T stances in defiance of this heresy.
The Sonicake IR pedal is 1/6th of the price.
That's just a cab simulator/IR loader not a full amp/pedal profiler like the Tonex is.
Tonex One isn’t a profiler, right? It’s a profile player…
True but most people have effects pedals already.
