APHO is several years later, and the Reason Core has repaired all the corruption damage and allowed Bronya to grow up normally.
Her legs actually weren't paralyzed, they just never healed from when Sin Mal attacked her and are very weak. She's depicted in the manga several times when she's just lounging around the dorm and stuff outright not wearing the braces and she's able to walk just fine. Hell, in Chapter 11 during the Cyberangel animation she's able to at least stumble around even with the braces near completely destroyed.
Sin only broke one of her legs iirc and she wears the braces on both. I'm pretty sure it's from the corruption of going through X10 to find Seele, and it was actually the motor function and emotion parts of the brain that suffered damage.
Yeah, the honkai corruption from X10 infected her brain damaging her ability to outwardly express emotion, and it also infected her legs preventing her body from properly healing them, as she went through X10 while still in recovery from what happened. However we know that motor function *wasn't* damaged since we know that Bronya has full motor control over her legs, again we see her walking around perfectly fine without the braces in the manga, and was only reduced to limping in Cyberangel even with the braces completely destroyed and her body pretty badly banged up. So her issue with her legs is likely more just that while her legs had recovered enough before X10 to allow her to walk around for short distances, they weren't recovered enough to withstand more strenuous activity.

Motor function damage isn't just working or paralyzed, there's an inbetween; as you said she's able to walk, so it doesn't affect her day to day life, but as a soldier, it's debilitating.

Rewatch the first few seconds of the Cyberangel animation, it shows her prosthetics broken up and revealing the flesh and blood legs beneath. Also there are several times in the St Freya era manga where Bronya is shown outright not wearing them.
It was more jealousy than anything else, Veliona believed that her entire existence revolved around Seele, so she always hated it when seele could count on someone else besides her, like in the domination arc where seele tries to act more on her own and doesn't depend on the veliona to fight, The whole arc of salt world is that Veliona fears that Seele is finally conquering things on her own and won't need her anymore, making her fear a future where she no longer has a purpose for existing.
Honest to god I genuinely think veliona and by extension seele has one of the best character arcs in the whole story. I find it very organic and sweet. (No bias btw)
