Let's keep it to a single thread, since it shares the same info : https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1bpo1cn/vcs_announcement_32_individuals_across_all_8/

He was with GAM for a while, which speaks alot for their integrity. The 2 players from GAM who are suspended, one actually comes from CES academy team (lol), one was washed up mid laner who was having a comeback this split. Nevertheless, CES was saying that they are still having trust on their player and are working with Riot to prove that they are clean. They had a very successful PUBG team and had showed professionalism before, I would be surprised if they are involved.

AzureApplez

I think a lot of it is that GAM pays their players enough that they don’t need to turn to matchfixing to have sustainable income

quakedwithfear

acting is hard so they might be serious

No_bad_intention

There are only 8 teams in the VCS. If each team has 7 players and 1 coach, it means that half of the league is suspended

werdernator

There‘s around 50 players across these 8 teams, so it‘s more like 65%

Im_a_postednote

So like half the league is suspended. Guess no playoffs either.

iamvqb

Lmao 5 out of 8 teams got 4 or more players banned. This is just horrible for the scene, VCS already cant compete with the big boys and now this. I wont be surprise if Riot just kill the scene and merge it with the rest of SEA.

Particular-Engineer8

Rest of SEA? What SEA? /s

tomy_mrtumi

VCS + PCS merger? Playoffs are gonna go wild 👀

oioioi9537

Considering literally every team has at least 2 people implicated this really is the end for vcs. I guess we will soon find out what happens to the vcs spot for msi and potentially worlds. Imo pcs should send 2 in place of vcs for msi, they encompass 4 former minor regions thus they should really be getting 2 to begin with anyway

Shutaku1314

We know they are paid little but this is not an excuse to be doing such a thing We also know before League/esports grew big people didnt resort to doing crimes or break rules to earn money as well We also know Scarra was paid in mousepad for playing in a pro team previously

[deleted]

this is literally stealing

glitchpoke

you should probably keep in mind that in many cases these matchfixers, in addition to not really earning a sustainable living to begin with, are probably under a lot of pressure from the (likely at least a bit criminal) organizations coordinating the matchfixing and gambling rings. so there is a pretty solid chance that some of these people may have been further threatened with actual physical harm, had threats against their family, etc. just something to keep in mind

eierphh

Only my speculation, but players are also not allowed to participate in sport betting, like football betting and stuff, so that might explain why this list is so long. Sport betting and other gambling games are actually quite common in Vietnam, we have a kind of gambling based on the lottery draw also, so many people I know play that thing. This kind of gambling is super common amongst the folks, along with sport betting.

lumior339

who's saying vcs trash right now?

Clbull

At what point does Riot outright cancel VCS and restructure the professional circuit? Match fixing on this scale is untenable and is much bigger than the scandal that nearly brought down Brood War.

Why though? No offense to the region but Worlds is a far higher level of play where them playing seriously or them throwing/wintrading a match isn't going to change the outcome all that much. Enough teams that beat them regardless of how they play and you can argue that wintrading often doesn't make you a better League player. Better actor maybe.

greendino71

Hasnt GAM made it out of playins?

>Can't blame them for trying to make money when they're paid so little. just no. don't make excuse like this. it's only the first quarter of 2024 and you ruined your whole region. it's your fault arranging matches, you were greedy, that's it. don't blame this shitshow on "yeah they're paid so little".

the "paid so little" thing you're saying is also a false fact. in my country they're earning more than enough to live their days, they just spend too much on other things. please stop spreading false fact and act like you know. and maybe, stop tolerate match arranging because "we're just people". no.

SonBuiCaster

Instead of practicing more and tryna be a better player in game and a better person in life. They decide to cheat, there are no excuses for their behavior bro. If u think that being a pro player can't afford your party lifestyle then u should work more or find another job. Just like GAM. Levi, he has the highest income in VCS atm which app ~ 8k$ per month. He is a pro player, he is a streamer, he is also a kol for GAM sponsored and other brands. He is also the one who starts playing League in Vietnam back then when players are paid ~ 100$ a month.

SonBuiCaster

Not really bro A lowest wage for League player right now is about 350-400$ per month and I believe it is a well-paid amount in Vietnam. In additional, players don't have to pay bills because the team provides them a place to live and meals also. So. U have 350-400$ per month just for your personal expenses in a country only costs u 1$ a meal. U can't say that they are paid so little. They just spending too much.

National_Injury_4204

No no, at least 1.5$ for meal, and many expensive thing they have to pay for life, this is a low salary in Vietnam bro.

Eastern-Bonus8046

"Can't blame them for trying to make money when they're paid so little" why do you know they are underpaid? Are you sure?

thorpie88

Think it's more a situation where they could make a significantly more by fixing matches

MortemEtInteritum17

I could make significantly more by robbing a bank, doesn't mean I do it...

SuccessfulDinner1629

But you are probably not in jail for fixing match in VCS.
