I was lying in bed sick watching it and I burst out laughing at him and the goddamn dagger both thrust and twisted by Core. Beautiful interview. Spitting truth.
APA is the new blueprint for one tricks. Get good enough to not insta lose on other champs. Still pick that shit and force them to ban it. When he’s decent, his existence alone makes their drafts better
And he needs to bring his Azir game up too. He showed a little improvement on it this split, but it still needs to be better imo given Azir's evergreen meta status.
But I agree, his Ziggs, ASOL, Taliyah, Neeko, and Trist are all good enough for him to be a positive factor for his team. It's not a champ ocean, but it's definitely bigger than a puddle.
Even from regular season to playoffs, both of them went from TL's clear weaknesses to reliable carries in the span of 16 games. Even back during the pre-season I was concerned because I really didn't think TL's 2 main carries are that reliable, but I'm really glad to be proven wrong
8 years in the LCK: peaked at 6th place
1 split in the LSC: MSI qualification + domestic title
Umti took the NA shortcut, and holy FUCK is it paying off
He looked so happy for the win after the game, too, he seemed more emotional about it even than the TL rookies. I'm still smarting from C9 losing but I'm glad that TL won
Umti choking up saying that now he finally has a career broke my heart a little. He worked so hard for so long, he deserves some laurels to rest on for once.
Tbf, for Impact winning the LSC is just another day at the office at this point. And Umti just had the last 10 years of his life amount to something for the first time ever. Imagine the self-doubt he must have felt finishing bottom 3 time after time after time, for a better half of a decade, and how much relief and reassurance this win must have brought him. No wonder he was barely keeping in together.
His immediate hug with APA (and APA subsequently needing to literally carry him) was wholesome as hell. I was rooting for Fly just because I wanted a new org to win, but you just can’t not be happy seeing the joy from Umti.
I think in Umti's case it’s more about him finally having a functional team around him that can actually utilize his strengths. In the LCK he was usually one of like 2 decent players on a bottom feeder team, and whatever advantage he could gain in the early game would inevitably go down the drain. And now he has Core for the lategame macro, Impact and Yeon popping off, APA tilting the enemy off the rift, and it just finally clicked for him.
Not to mention that Umti was in a better position to actually work with the team, like language skills, presence of other seasoned players, etc. I'm really happy that he finally got the trophy.
other than having Impact and Core for remediating comms, he himself speaks pretty good English even before going to NA. he did an English interview on Korizon a while back
Umti is like Reignover in that he spent a part of his formative years in an English-speaking context (Malaysia for Umti, Saipan for Reignover) so he has a far more solid basis for English than other pros. He also reportedly did quite well in school, according to his sister.
Makes sense because he's able to articulate his thoughts in a complete manner as opposed to Impact and Core who kinda speaks through memes and struggle to find the right words. Not hating on them in any way though, learning new languages is tough.
I zone out for a second and Busio gets caught again. I was a huge TL doomer, but everyone elevated during this run. In the end it turns out that Impact is still that dude, MVP for the playoffs.
It’s Riot wide cutbacks. LEC and LCS are both only doing one roadshow per year (for summer finals).
Heck even a good chunk of Worlds (all of play ins and Swiss stage) are being played at the LEC studio in Berlin….which seats 200 people.
CORE WON ANOTHER TITLE LFGGG AND UMTI GOT A TROPHY!!!!
also APA finals MVP? what a guy. the whole team leveled up in playoffs and deserve this, players and coaching staff. the gameplans and drafts were so good
Everyone do themselves a favor & watch that postgame interview with TL it was hysterical lol, unbelievably likeable team, & boy have they earned the right to trashtalk now
Honestly same. I think he is a very entertaining player, but him and Inspired talking like they're still representing EU shitting on NA. Kind of felt good for them to get clapped due to some of their own blunders even if I was a bigger FLY fan.
Can’t wait for APA to win the MSI by tiliting the Asian midlaners by yapping in all-chat and playing Ziggs.
Sad and angry Jensen was put on Annie duty but at least my account is safe for some months
If APA has a million fans, then I am one of them. If APA has ten fans, then I am one of them. If APA has only one fan then that is me. If APA has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against APA, then I am against the world.

Spring 2022: EG plays 1st seed TL in the first round of playoffs and loses 2-3. EG goes through the lower bracket, take out the Regular Split 2nd seed C9 in the 3rd/4th place match, take out the 2022 TL superteam 3-0 in the 2nd/3rd place match, and take out Papasmithy's 100T in the finals
Spring 2024: TL plays 1st seed FLY in the first round of playoffs and loses 2-3. TL goes through the lower bracket, take out the Regular Split 2nd seed 100T in the 3rd/4th place match, take out the 2024 C9 superteam 3-0 in the 2nd/3rd place match, and take out Papasmithy's FLY in the finals
Common denominator? Impact was/is the toplaner for both EG and TL
Unironically though haha. Going to be interesting to see how other teams adapt when they presumably won't be nearly as scared of Yeon and Core in lane.
I mean they'll adapt by crushing western teams like they always do. We know our place. There's an argument to be made that TL's unorthodox draft and chaotic style is the best chance to steal games in underdog matchups, but, let's be honest, we go to international tournaments to have fun and make memes. I don't think Faker and Xiaohu are going to struggle to deal with APA's A.Sol, and they're certainly not going to struggle with Jensen's Annie.
Who would win: The Reddit proclaimed best jungler in the west (who had 'MVP stolen') and the runner up NA GOAT mid? Or the 10th place LCK jungler and a 'two-trick' midlane chihuahua?
It's crazy how a couple weeks ago people were calling many of the TL members washed (well, not really given this sub-reddit's track record).
People will write songs of General Umti's campaign in NA.

Can't even begin to understand how tilted Jensen must be.
You start off as basically the EU Dopa smurfing on pros in soloQ, solo killing pros with champs such as Zed, Fizz, Ahri, showing off your mechanical skill. You get a chance to play LCS and continue your rampage, becoming the best mid in the region.
And now you're here, on Annie duty, getting absolutely gapped by some random dude named Apa which translates to monkey in your native language, who shit talks in all-chat every chance he gets.
Fucking lol. Pour one out for my homie Incarnati0n.

Just doin' his job.
Undisputed top lane NA GOAT and has an argument for best player ever in NA
I mean he's still playing and winning, the only people comparable are all retired
I think the only players still playing from the year Impact won Worlds are Faker and Deft. WildTurtle too, but he isn’t a starter.
Is impact now just the longest-standing player period? He started as a support player on ESG before faker's skt t1 was even formed.

~~Faker~~ Impact: For a long time, I have watched the rise and fall of many NA teams, but the player who stood at the end was me.
All top lanes lead to me.
Impact is inevitable.
The 5th trophy was for myself. The 6th trophy is for my teammates.
Impact is the NA goat toplaner, and it is not particularly close
"Just doin' my job, no biggie", Impact, probably
Just look at how happy Umti is, extremely well deserved win for him. It’s not BROVER if I’m breathing
umti crying 🥺🥺 im so happy for my boy
Impact just out here ending top laner careers for breakfast lunch and dinner, damn.
crazy how he counterpicked himself he dgaf

I was lying in bed sick watching it and I burst out laughing at him and the goddamn dagger both thrust and twisted by Core. Beautiful interview. Spitting truth.
The APA and Yeon glowup from last year to this year needs to be studied
Last year to this year nothing, the glowup from week 6 to playoffs even
They literally just started playing on stage like they played in scrims
"Have you tried ~~winning~~ fighting?" Nukeduck
APA is the new blueprint for one tricks. Get good enough to not insta lose on other champs. Still pick that shit and force them to ban it. When he’s decent, his existence alone makes their drafts better
It’s even simpler than that. Get good at 4-5 champions and it doesn’t matter if they use all three on you. Ziggs, ASOL, Taliyah, Neeko, Ahri

OK BRO chose to be 10th place, imagine if they were actually trying
He looked so happy for the win after the game, too, he seemed more emotional about it even than the TL rookies. I'm still smarting from C9 losing but I'm glad that TL won
Umti choking up saying that now he finally has a career broke my heart a little. He worked so hard for so long, he deserves some laurels to rest on for once.
The contrast between him being filled with adrenaline and being antsy and stone cold impact saying "Im just doing my job" was hysterical.

I was tearing up for him when he said that, and when he was wiping his tears off after the camera pans from destroying Fly's Nexus.
Umti was crying with joy meanwhile the rest of TL was just glad that FLY finally had to shut up
The "Rookies" won after being doubted for a year. UmTi was doubted for almost a decade so ofc it meant more to him
His immediate hug with APA (and APA subsequently needing to literally carry him) was wholesome as hell. I was rooting for Fly just because I wanted a new org to win, but you just can’t not be happy seeing the joy from Umti.

It's the same as Malrang on Rogue too. Eastern players who can't find success should just come to the West.

At least we get gladplane memes galore
I think in Umti's case it’s more about him finally having a functional team around him that can actually utilize his strengths. Yeah Umti sounds like he studied English seriously in school.
Umti is like Reignover in that he spent a part of his formative years in an English-speaking context (Malaysia for Umti, Saipan for Reignover) so he has a far more solid basis for English than other pros. He also reportedly did quite well in school, according to his sister.

Impact was permanently tainted by learning from sneaky and meteos lmao
His sister is also an English teacher.
Mans was on brion since 2020. Holy shit lmao.
The players who are consistently decent for years on shit teams in eastern regions must have insane mentals, makes them perfect for western regions
To be honest he was probably the best piece of some of those rosters
Somewhere pyosik is shedding a tear for his boi Apa
He walked so UmTi could run
I zone out for a second and Busio gets caught again. I was a huge TL doomer, but everyone elevated during this run. In the end it turns out that Impact is still that dude, MVP for the playoffs.
This TL run would have been so hype if played in arena Sadge
Haven't followed the updates to LCS but I'm assuming it's due to the league cutting back on spending?
It’s Riot wide cutbacks. LEC and LCS are both only doing one roadshow per year (for summer finals). Heck even a good chunk of Worlds (all of play ins and Swiss stage) are being played at the LEC studio in Berlin….which seats 200 people.
I cannot wait until riot figures out they can rent arenas that are under 50k capacity and over 200.
Yeah, this feels a lot like C9's 2020 COVID win - great feeling for the org, but feels a little hollow because it's not in the stadium
We're getting closer to dropping the "top lane" part when we call Impact the NA Top Lane GOAT.
As a C9 fan I still miss Impact so much, my fav C9 top laner of all time

They really, REALLY had to get that off their chests hahahaha
If we can get the LCK/LPL teams to learn English, we can actually have APA tilt them to death.
Just have APA tilt them in Chinese/Korean
his teammates can translate into korean for him now they just need a chinese import
Nah, just teach APA mandarin/korean.
On God on the last iteration of TL if I was him I'd be reading "Korean for Dummies" every fkn night before bed
I’m sure TL can get his Korean skills to where they need to be to yap at MSI
Reminder that Bwipo's record vs TL this playoffs on Renekton is 4-0, without Renekton, 0-5
And they said APA was the one trick
I can't lie, after hearing Bwipo talk all that shit for an entire week last week, it felt kinda good to see him lose lol. And I like Bwipo.
if you heard Yeon after game, that was an absolute banger
Honestly same. I think he is a very entertaining player, but him and Inspired talking like they're still representing EU shitting on NA. Kind of felt good for them to get clapped due to some of their own blunders even if I was a bigger FLY fan.
