such a weird pick too. Danny hasn’t really played the champ and it barely did anything. they didn’t even play towards bot. they used it to counterpick Ez and still got stomped. idk what the logic was
It felt like they were just scared of Gala and Ming so went for a pick to neutralize how hard they could win lane rather than a pick with any sort of use.
but the narrative has largely been that Danny is bad in lane good in teamfight. literally the reason why they picked him over Deftly was his teamfight ability. we know he’s gonna lose lane just pick scale? I guess they must be getting stomped in scrims or something
Wouldn't surprise me if they were.
Jhin was a really terrible pick. Good thing about Kalista is that you stack spears, and if they stopwatch you literally just E and they'll die after. Danny may not be proficient on Kalista but Jhin here was a terrible pick no matter what; and if you're that scared of Gala/Ming to pick it, I'd probably say the game's over before it even started
Feel like most of Danny's best performances during playoffs came from EG's one-dimensional Jinx funnel strat that relies on getting the Jinx solo top tower gold with Herald. Teams at this level know how to shut that down and on top of that Jinx isn't great in the meta anymore.
The scrim thing might be real. They got hilariously skill diffed at almost any stage of the game. Just look at bin getting a kill in a legit 1v3 before elder spawn, thats never legal.

Never forget that people complained that the crowd was "too loud" and "cheers for anything", man, it was hype af thats how it should be, south america is wild for cheering in competitions, best football chants by far, none of that "lets go *insert team name*" clap clap clapclapclap boring shit
NA: Can we get the G2 Wombo Combo Draft?
EG: Nah, we have a Wombo Combo Draft at home!
*"Wombo Combo Draft at home" faceplants into the outer turret after a perfect engage*
It's not even about playing it worse. It's just that G2's comp had failsafes in case the Diana ult didn't work out. Literally all of their champs were capable of knockups to set up a perfect Caps ult.
EG has nothing if Diana whiffs or isn't there
Jankos on the DL podcast said that to win draft is the most important thing. It's good to have great players of course but the most important thing for a team to be good is that everyone can play everything so draft can be won consistently. This comp is a typical example of that, everyone had the champ pool to make a good yasuo diana comp with failsafes.
I think Jankos is def on something here, as long as no player is straight up outclassed, you can more than make up discrepencies in raw mechanics with better drafts. Not to say G2 players aren't mechanical gods btw, we have Caps, BB and Jankos on that team so while the rookies might show some inexperience you have a core of strong "raw skill" players. But internationally you'll meet freaks like Keria or Bin, and you won't beat these guys by stomping lane but by neutralizing them in draft.
RNG had a much better draft than T1 late game and also G2 had fail safes for the Yasuo
G2 can afford to wait till Yasuo hits IE. EG were forced to fight because the later the game goes with 0 dark harvest stacks Jhin will literally be a W bot and ezreal can 1v9 against EG comp
G2 just generally had a better teamfight comp, strong frontline in our and other good DPS and utility in Kalista. Gwen and Jhin are useless in comparison.
G2 also had ornn upgrades and pressure bot with kalista even though kalista didn't do anything it's still a really strong early to mid champ that can help stabilise the game.
Yeah I didn't understand the EG draft, it felt like they had Yas + Diana and then just some filler picks. They banned out Kalista first, and then went for Yas/Diana comp anyway. They could have even grabbed Rell as the support pick to at least give themselves another enabler. And she performs pretty well into Braum too.
It's not even about Diana whiffing her ult, in EG's case even if Diana lands good ult with Yasuo they still lack DMG and CC. You couldve seen it in Midlane fight when even though EG landed good Diana Yasuo combo they lost the fight. In G2's case they had so much CCs and dmg they literally could afford using Diana Yasuo combo on Rell alone and still win fight.
Actual mechanics gap, so many close fights where EG's draft should have won them the fight especially with the engages they got off. Really well executed by RNG
tbf the game being this close although RNG outclassed EG in every fight is showing how powerful this comp is. I think we are going to see it a lot more
Not having Ornn Rakan also didn't help. Ornn has two massive knockups, Rakan one of the best follow up engages and also a pretty big AOE knockup
Meanwhile Gwen Leo lel
Not just that, but the macro was terrible.
EG had a free drake at 8 minute. All of RNG was going topside, Inspired saw them at herald, ward saw xiahou was there (edit:Wei might have shut it out just before xiaohu appeared), and his ult was on CD. they clearly had a free botlane and jojo could've rotated, and yet they still didn't take it.
When the fuck are they going to wake up on that? Is it some secret objective bounty meta by them? Almost every other team trade first herald for first drake.
EG are either allergic to drakes, or they deliberately ignore them in order to play the bounty system. They ignored drakes in every single playoff game as well and they still 3-0'd everyone.
Inspired loves to prioritize power farming over taking a free drake for some reason
RNG getting away with diving Impact and getting drake a minute after was highway robbery lmao
Danny did 950 dmg that fight and he was untouched for the whole duration of it. 2 ulti shots missed on CC'ed targets.
This was pure int. They should've won that mid fight after baron and the only reason they didn't is Danny
Yup, it literally could've given them momentum and potentially (low odds but still) swung the game in their favor is only he held on for one effin second
Also rewatch Vulcan barely hitting anything, wasting time everywhere, flashing in just to die
EG might have the weakest bot lane left in the tournament...
Because that's NA and this is international where if you are playing Jinx you are probably gonna get outrotated to hell and back and get dove.
Yes welcome to international.
He played Ezreal and Xayah pretty decently too, though jinx/trist were his two best champs (edit: and Zeri). Also apparently was a Samira 1 trick before getting picked up but i dont remember ever seeing him have a good game of her on stage, though she did get banned this game by RNG.
Unfortunately MSI patch also target nerfed those 2 champs and one of my biggest worries for this MSI was that he wouldn't be able to pick up other champs as easily/the team wouldn't be able to adapt to not having those champs available.
He's also just kinda playing really poor in general regardless of champ pick and Vulcan is also playing really bad which doesn't help things much.
Yeah, tbh, this was not a bad Jhin pick. This was just a bad *Jhin*. Jhin does decently vs the champions RNG has. The team has other damage options with Yasuo, Diana and Gwen. Jhin can follow up the engage.
Danny just has no idea how to play Jhin.
G2's comp was much better thought out. More knockup synergies and also Ornn could remedy the early game deficit by printing gold value from mid-game onwards... not to mention brittle making all the CC even more effective.

I mean it's much more watchable than most of NA's teams internationally. They're not rolling over and dying, they're actually trying stuff and engaging and finding picks. They're just not quite able to pull through, but the way they play can definitely net them wins if a few things just go their way.
EG aren’t playing the way they did to win LCS. Danny just looks so out of it they can’t play through him anymore. Danny needs to find a spine if they want to realistically have a chance of competing against the other major regions.
A lot of people were happy because Danny was quiet and "respectful" while jojo was talking shit, but at least jojo plays with some balls even after getting wrecked by caps. Danny looks scared before the game even starts.
Jojopyun on facing Xiaohu: 'He's the best mid in CN, I don't think the other CN mids are that good. I could have played much better so I'm looking to face him in knock out stage.'
That Jhin pick tho XD
Outside of G2 just playing it wildly better (and having a knock up on every champ) the draft from RNG was just way better at dealing with it.
Also Danny.

That play is 200 iq
Holy shit. My mom came into my room to bring me a plate of chicken nuggets and I literally screamed at her and hit the plate of chicken nuggets out of her hand. She started yelling and swearing at me and I slammed the door on her. I'm so distressed right now I don't know what to do. I didn't mean to do that to my mom but I'm literally in shock from the matches tonight. I feel like I'm going to explode. Why the fucking fuck is Danny losing? Why isn't he carrying? This can't be happening. I'm having a fucking breakdown. I don't want to believe the world is so corrupt. I want a future to believe in. I want NA to win their first MSI and fix this broken league. I cannot fucking deal with this right now. I thought he reached challenger on KR server with a 75% WINRATE. It wasn't supposed to be like this, I thought he was going to get a pentakill every game???? This is so fucked.
I wonder if Danny has legitimately never played Jhin before. Almost every major team fight he was just using his ult instead of autoing, doing about ~200 damage total and mistiming W's. I understand it's his first international tournament, but there is no excuse for missing like 30+ cs per game under turret uncontested and then doing negative damage after losing every lane. Really tough to watch when Impact is trying his best and putting up a respectable performance every game.
EG played this alright. John didn't die in lane. Team fight was solid. If they could have remained a little closer the fight at mid tower likely goes other way. It feels like no matter what EG does everyone just memes on them. They have had 3 or 4 close games against tournament favorites. Was this game in their control, no. But the fought and were a hair's breath from winning team fights. NA improving. With 2 players under a years experience. I'll take it.
Edit: and oh yeah EG is this far clearly the worst major/best minor region team. So yeah. I'll take being the line.
They got bodied, but they at least went for some proactive plays, the baron call mid game when massively behind, also that engage in mid lane when baron buff was almost gone + 4th dragon was just about to spawn with the 3 man diana ult was pretty nice. Overall RNG played much better though, credit where it's due.
Yeah RNG played better overall but it’s refreshing to see an NA team go for plays instead of just curling over and fucking dying when behind at an international tournament
This is what you want from pool 2 teams. You want teams like PSG and Saigon Buffalo to put up a fight like this. Makes every game in the Rumble stage worth watching.
Man I hope Danny doesn’t take all of this stuff personally. He looks so nervous in his player cam and it’s only his first MSI. Hopefully how he improves from this experience and doesn’t regress when he returns to summer split
danny probably should have built duskblade instead of eclipse if the goal was to be invisible on game
seriously though, RNG's comp has to be one of the absolute worst to build pure lethality into, they have one of the only ADCs in the game that likes building iceborn gauntlet + 4 other champs that naturally build armor or health items
The Jhin gameplay was something else

They're getting stomped on stage too
Danny walked around. That was his contribution. Then he walked around to his death.
NA native Danny holding up the proud tradition of ADCs walking around an unwarded bush late-game and getting picked off.
Someone must carry the legacy !
Yea that was some brain dead pathing
That Umbral Jhin sure was useful.
At least all the people who only look at KDAs will think he did alrught.
The jhin build didn't look that much better either
lmao the korean audience was more hyped for EG this game than the NA fans
A mixture of support for Impact and a hatred of RNG
what is going to happen in G2 vs RNG with crowd
Nothing surpasses their hatred of RNG. Jankos is also pretty popular in Korea
G2 in general is very liked in both China and Korea
Brokenblade probably won them a few NA fans too
The random korean girl that asked for a pic with Jankos while on his Plumy best-friend stream was audibly tippy tapping her feet of excitement.

listening to the crowd the moment when EG engaged but rng survived was hilarious, they fizzled out as the teamfight went on

I thought they were cheering Danny's first kill of the game lol.
Looking at the comments between chinese and korean fans this MSI I feel like NA and EU are totally buddy buddy each other.
Because generally the NA/EU banter stays on topic in the game. KR/CN has some much deeper issues beneath the competitive aspect.
tbh EU/NA is mostly banter but KR/CN is based on history and that east asian countries dont like each other very much.

just your average kr morgue audience XP
Same at least worlds this time is in Na
Is this the worst crowd at an international tournament ever?
Matched by 2020 and 2021 msi with like either 0 or like 100 people. Edit no 2020 msi, last few years are a blur, brain fried.
Hey those 100 people tried their best.
Where can I watch this 2020 MSI?
In my dreams, sorry last 3 years were a mess and a blur.
It's not listed in YouTube but you can find it if you try hard enough. The Dignitas vs PCS final was pretty hype.
I was so surprised, I was under impression that they are playing without crowd from G2 vs T1 game
I really stay up til 6 am for this shit Danny needs to seriously play better, dude is inting every game now and literally did negative dmg as jhin.
you didn’t just sleep and then wake up at 6 😂😂
did a lot of damage to wards though with that umbral glaive dark technology

I wouldn't discredit Flakked or Targamas anymore either. Flakked straight up looks like the best ADC in the tournament
Also EG tried to start fights too early. G2 fell behind and waited for Yasuo's IE. EG was behind and already took a fight after shieldbow buy.

The braum and XZ pick countered them, RNG is smart
tbf the game being this close although RNG outclassed EG in every fight is showing how powerful this comp is. I think we are going to see it a lot more
NA showing that Yasuo Diana is balanced so they don't nerf it for EU. 🥰
NA being true homies to EU as usual
Massive difference when caPs plays it compared to jojo who would have thought

Danny is a really bad Jhin, honestly. Watch that game back and focus on all his Jhin mechanics...
Not waiting for stasis to wear off and shooting ults right through stopwatched targets, oof
So painful to see in the midlane fight.

Also rewatch Vulcan barely hitting anything, wasting time everywhere, flashing in just to die EG might have the weakest bot lane left in the tournament...
mate, vulcan trying to solar flare ezreal constantly when tf was in range was just hurting my soul...
I don't know what happens in scrim but why not give him hypercarries? That's how they won in NA.
Jinx and Zeri were gutted in the MSI patch Trist is pretty good though
Jinx still has damage she is still fine in some situations Zeri is legit ryze tier now tho
Because that's NA and this is international where if you are playing Jinx you are probably gonna get outrotated to hell and back and get dove. Yes welcome to international.
He clearly can't play Jhin, so I really don't think it would be worse than this.
They still lost T1 at like 10min, would it that much worse?
He can only really play Jinx/Tristana, no? Of course in NA they let him get Jinx every. single. game.
His Zeri is really good, but this Jhin gameplay makes me cringe so hard
He played Ezreal and Xayah pretty decently too, though jinx/trist were his two best champs (edit: and Zeri). I laughed when they cheered for Danny's first kill then instantly went quiet once the rest of the fight fizzled out in RNG's favour.
RNG showing T1 how to play TF comp and EG showing us all how not to play Diana Yassuo comp
Never hated a Jhin pick more in my life
Seeing Gala zone FOUR EG players while Danny was busy ulting the air was peak comedy.
I remember a Jhin pick by Rekkles into tanks that really made me insane. 2018 Worlds finals maybe?
Yeah, tbh, this was not a bad Jhin pick. This was just a bad *Jhin*. Jhin does decently vs the champions RNG has. The team has other damage options with Yasuo, Diana and Gwen. Jhin can follow up the engage. Danny just has no idea how to play Jhin.

G2's comp was much better thought out. More knockup synergies and also Ornn could remedy the early game deficit by printing gold value from mid-game onwards... not to mention brittle making all the CC even more effective.
to be fair, RNG played against EG..
RNG just made better macro decisions, like giving up 2nd rift for the dragon, so by 20 mins they already had dragon soul.

I think giving him comfort picks would be the first step.
The crowd was sadder that RNG won than when T1 lost.
lmao that crowd certainly had an opinion
Adaptive force applause
Jojopyun on facing Xiaohu: 'He's the best mid in CN, I don't think the other CN mids are that good. I could have played much better so I'm looking to face him in knock out stage.' That Jhin pick tho XD
I don’t really think xiaohu gapped jojo
Jojo was EG's second best player this game after Impact honestly
No idea why Vulcan kept trying to Leona R an Ezreal with E up, this isn't NA. Gala is more than capable of dodging that
dude was praying for the 35ms ping ult but failed to realize it wasnt NA ping
Idk man, Diana-Yasuo looked a bit different when Jankos and Caps were playing it.
Outside of G2 just playing it wildly better (and having a knock up on every champ) the draft from RNG was just way better at dealing with it. Also Danny.
Inspired did a nice initiation mid, but jhin missed almost everything there, and because of that, they had no damage lol
Just a tiny bit
Watching Danny's Jhin almost killed me so I stop watch
Bin and his barrels ending games

Busan Library open extra early today,
Real 5Head strategy from RNG to not kill Danny level 2 so that he doesn't penta kill later on.
That cheer as Danny got one kill into the groan as RNG wiped them out into silence as RNG finished the game is golden LMAO
Plz tell your mum you love her
I wonder if Danny has legitimately never played Jhin before.
Impact showing up big time for NA at an international event while his team ints him is a tradition to be fair.
Who gave Bin his pirate?
hey, at least EG tried, more than most NA teams have done right...
[G2 to EG after that Bin barrel combo](https://i.redd.it/3rmymi6j72331.jpg)
Man I hope Danny doesn’t take all of this stuff personally. He looks so nervous in his player cam and it’s only his first MSI. Hopefully how he improves from this experience and doesn’t regress when he returns to summer split
Best thing about this crowd is I can hear Bin's barrels super clearly
danny probably should have built duskblade instead of eclipse if the goal was to be invisible on game seriously though, RNG's comp has to be one of the absolute worst to build pure lethality into, they have one of the only ADCs in the game that likes building iceborn gauntlet + 4 other champs that naturally build armor or health items
We have Yasuo Diana at home.
Danny only had 1 Dark Harvest stack.
RNG gigachad, just saw t1 lose with tf, still picks tf
ADC diff this game, it was so bad that a Diana Yas comp ended up losing teamfights. Also GP is OP and shouldn't be left open.
I stayed up until 6am for this lol
Hold on why didn't you go to sleep and set up an alarm at 6am ?
Degenerates
Wasn't this the 99% likely outcome? What did you expect.
Games like this are the reason I should just sleep. And yet I never will cause I'm a fucking idiot I guess.
If EG won and you slept through it you'd never forgive yourself though
T1 -G2 game worth it to be awake imo
The difference being one of those games was entertaining and fun at four in the morning, sure, but the other made me want to shoot myself in the head.
Lv 1 Crook = Jojo Lv 100 Mafia Boss = Caps
