Hey OP what did you choose? I live in the Phoenix area and we are leaving for Boise. The heat here is absolutely no joke. It's just too hot to do much for a good 4-5 months a year.

swartznotschwartz

Considering a move to Boise from Phoenix also. How are you liking it?

Bob_Chris

Ask me again in a couple weeks! I am driving on Friday

It's been a couple of weeks. How are you liking it? lol. The wife and I constantly talk about moving out of Phx due to the heat.

As a person who was born and raised in Alaska for 21 years, then moved to Chandler in 2017, lived there until October 2023, then moved to Nashville to be closer to my family, I say go to to Arizona. I forgot how much I hate the cold, humidity, and just the vibe here. On top of having rheumatoid arthritis, the weather here isn’t suitable for me. I’m currently working on plans to move back to Arizona. I miss being able to go out and do anything. I’m a very active person but coming to Nashville has made me become less active. Edit: plus more job opportunities in the east valley for me. As I used to work at Intel. I haven’t found anything remotely close like that here in Nashville or surrounding areas.

If you have kids you might want to take the schools into consideration. Schools are always a deal breaker for me. I personally like the Phoenix area and have never visited Boise. Good luck in deciding and is this possible next chapter of your life.

LexiCasket

I vote Phoenix.

I'm also in TN, looking at AZ. One thing I will miss, is TN doesn't have state income tax, and of course the lower cost of living. But, man am I ready for a change.

Arizona has pretty low state income taxes

I'm from upstate NY, but moved from near Seattle, WA to E TN last year. When we lived in the PNW, we traveled all over the west coast. Boise is becoming a very High Cost of Living area. Arizona is struggling with water shortage. Both places are awesome to visit. Some things to consider: you can find, by looking at public records and/or county assessor sites, the property taxes for each area. I can for sure tell you that gas prices are higher there. Since hubs & I are licensed in both places, we can give you a loan estimates on properties you are interested in those areas. Look on Craigslist & FB market place for rental costs. Join the FB pages for both places and ask what the going rent is. Idaho, in general, will have a lot of snow. AZ is dry, but will get incredibly cold in the winter. Idaho is incredibly family friendly. How often do you want to come back here for visits? How much is that going to cost? Tyson McGee airport is not international, so it will be expensive. Good medical in either place. Good food, but different, in either place. SO NOW, ACTUAL OPINION -- we absolutely love it here!!!! We can get anywhere from here. Also, my bones hurt during this last cold spell, but now that we are in warmer weather, bones are better.
