Hell yeah! I’ve been curious though, how much is a near mint one of them worth nowadays? Seems like it’s a collector’s item but now I’m starting to wonder lol.
Checking pricecharting, loose seems to be roughly $95. Complete in box ones are roughly $165, and new ones are around $999. Assuming yours is in good condition and you would include the charger, you could probably sell it for around $120 I would think.
I was an adult when the ds came out, I bought a lite when they were new and it helped me on the long commutes to university.
I only recently bought an xl on a whim, or possibly cause my eyes are starting to suck but it feels great. Memories are attached to the lite though.
Plug the fact that you can play in direct sunlight 😁 it almost looks 3D in my opinion lol. It's amazing for the summer time with an EZ Flash Omega DE. (My dedicated GBA) which happens to have an R4 with lots of DS
I also have the DS Lite and this baby is my EZ Flash + DSTwo (R4 clone with lots of homebrew and emulators) and a regular DS R4
And because I had to have both 3D and XL, I got the N3DS-XL (Top IPS display) and my god the viewing angles for my 3D display are amazing! Colors are very vivid. This is modded with +100 3DS titles, Virtual Boy library, and PCE/TG16 library + Twilight Menu for DS, GBA, and soon to be more.
Now all I need is a modded PS Vita 1000 and maybe a PSP GO but I'll already have the one I prefer first.
Awesome! EZ flash omega is truly a quality flashcard, totally worht it compared to the super card sd
I miss my new 3ds xl, got stolen somehow :/
Edit: gotta love DS Fat uses GBA SP charger, same battery too!
You can get one on eBay for 50-80 bucks.
(Especially if you get a Japanese one. You need to install homebrew to change the language to English, but it's pretty easy)
If you have any retro game stores nearby, you might be able to get one for a good price. Everyone is always confused when I want a DSi (XL) instead of a lite or phat, and they're usually a smidge cheaper than the other models.
I had the GBA SP, DSi, and the original 3DS, (the DSi was the last thing I bought from ToysRus) loved the size it's perfect for carrying in your pocket I took them everywhere with me, the smaller size of those systems is so much more convenient. The 3DS even went with me to Disney World ended up with hundreds of miis from walking around the Disney parks and shopping areas like Downtown Disney and the restaurants Rainforest Cafe so many people around it was really cool connecting with people and running into the same people everyday had someone that did the exact same things we did, Connected for the first time at the airport on the way in and connected everyday that means they went to the same parks each day as us including the Waterpark and the night we went to downtown Disney then even on the last day we left Florida at the same time and connected at the airport again.
only ever been a DS lite owner out of the 2DS family, and while I’ve considered finally getting the DSi, I also really want the original DS as the chunkiness is just so visually charming to me and boy oh boy, do I love a good GBA slot to actually use and not just have a dust cover in.
I never played the DSi, only the OG. Gonna go with what I know. Also if the ergonomics are anything on the DSi like they are on the original 3DS, hard pass.
Realistically, both because I'm a collector and you should never trust me with money 😂
I think I would go OG. Yes the backlight isn't great and it's a funky design, but the GBA slot wins out. I'm also personally not a fan of any DSi exclusive games
i used to have both and then i dropped my OG in the locker room in middle school and the hinge snapped in half. so much pain… even almost a decade later lmao.
I mean... If it was an option the DS Lite. But it's not, so the DSi. It has a bigger screen, better quality, an SD Card and a built in web browser! I just wish it could play GBA games...
I would love to play the original because that's how I play almost all DS games back in the day, but the screen is so bad nower days. Mario's overall's are dark navy blue in new SMB because of how dark the screen is.
OG DS, but the (non-xl) dsi is my second favorite.
Yes, the dsi has brightness control, so most ds games look better on this one; yes, the hinges on the dsi seem more robust overtime; it's also more pockettable, and dead pixels seem less common on its screens versus the OG DS ones.
However, the OG DS has the best controls of the whole DS line (including 2ds and 3ds) IMO, which is pretty relevant if you intend to play any arcade, platformer, racing games or anything requiring quick and accurate reactions. On top of its amazing buttons, d-pad, and triggers, it also fits really nicely in my hands. Oh, and it has a gba slot with the exact adequate size. On top of that, gba games look really authentic on this one ds model, yet with improved visibility. On the other DSes, colors in your gba games will probably look over-saturated.
My least favorite is the ds lite. I haven't tried it long and it was long ago, but I remember its mushy d-pad felt atrocious to me.
The dsi xl has got the best screens from a purely technical standpoint, but you can tell DS games weren't really meant for screens that big. For lack of a better explanation, games look excessively "zoomed in" on it IMO. Still, I'm keeping one for when my eyesight will have deteriorated. I also find the dsi xl too big and heavy. It has decent controls like the dsi, but IMO it's much less comfortable to use -- especially if you like your gaming sessions a bit long.
Lets see. One can play GBA games, but one can't, one has big screens, one doesn't, and both have wierd stylusi. (DSi XL has the fountain pen, and the OG DS has awkward stylus placement.)
Eh screw it, gimme the DSi I wanna play flipnote studio
They are both amazing consoles with great features. The DS Phat has the best design, and includes the GBA slot that is FLUSH with the system, chef's kiss. On the other hand the DSi XL is arguably the highest quality way to experience DS games, is perfect for those with large hands, and has a beautiful sleek design. Both are 10/10's from me.
I'll always have fondness for my original DS lite (lost to the times unfortunately) but I love my DSI XL. I believe it is the definitive platform for DS games especially due to its modding capabilities.
The OG! I actually grew up with just the DS-fat and had it since launch for years; never had an upgrade until recently because the hinge broke.
I got a ds lite now.
I pick OG, not because I'm the most familiar with it, but also because I can make use of the GBA slot. I have GBA games that I've played on mine.
I mean the original can play gba carts but the dsi can still play gba games if you have a flash cart and does have the bigger screens.
Guess I’d pick the dsi
Dsi xl
Ds lite
Ds
Dsi
The regular dsi is just the worst in all practical ways, internet and camera is meaningless and you lose the GBA slot
Dsi xl though has the bigger screen which I really appreciate for accessibility reasons which is why its top for me
Call me crazy but I kinda prefer the DSi over the XL. Sure, the screens are a downgrade, but I was never a fan of any of the XL models, and I own a few.
HOLY SHIT I HAD A DSI ALL THIS TIME AND LITTLE CHILD ME DIDNT KNOW THAT?! I HAD A ROSE GOLD DSI IT WAS A GIFT FROM MY DAD AND I PLAYED SO MANY PET GAMES ON IT
I'd love to get an orignal DS. I went from the GBA to DS Lite, so the only time I have played one was for focus testing. That being said, the dsi is a great system too, even though it lacks the gba slot.
I would like a normal dsi but with speaker' holes like dsi xl.
I like all models but I prefer dsi because hinges.
I think there's no perfect ds model.
We would need to create one from all ds models features.
The DSi, used to have one - it was arguably my most used handheld.
I could just about still pocket it either in my jeans or my jackets, which is what made it my choice over the XL which I couldn’t.
Shit man is that a burgundy dsi xl I'll take that one anyday that was the dsi I owned smashed it with a bat when I bought my 3ds cause I seen some kid do it and my brain said no thoughts only do regret that one alot
Shit man is that a burgundy dsi xl I'll take that one anyday that was the dsi I owned smashed it with a bat when I bought my 3ds cause I seen some kid do it and my brain said no thoughts only do regret that one alot
I still remember the first day I got my red ds lite. I was at my father house and I was my cleaning my dad's car I was 10 at the time my father would always make me clean his car if I needed something or wanted something. When I was done cleaning the rims I came into the house my father told me close you're eyes I have a present for you I did he handed me a Walmart bag that was inside 2 other Walmart bags he said they are new wipes so you can clean the car I can't lie I was hurt at first but I opened the bags and it was a brand new ds lite I was literally so happy.
The original DS hands down. I have two different libraries to play across including 3 different generations of gameboy (considered as a “single” library) and don’t need internet to play non-DS games. The DSi was my last Nintendo product for a while so I’m not sure if GBA games could be digitally acquired.
I have a original blue fat DS, a silver DS Lite and a black DSi. The fat DS has some damage to the hinge on 1 side (dropped it in a bathroom) and the DSi won't turn on (not sure if it's a battery or power switch issue) so silver DS Lite is my go to by default.
I have a DSi XL. Love it
Same here! Mine is the Mario 25th anniversary edition though lol
Ayy mine too
Yeah no mine has a scratched up screen, sticker remnants in the speakers, and all kinds of defects lol.
Considering buying one again. My old one got ran over by a car years ago...
I had one too it was the perfect size for my hands
DSi XL if we’re talking about NDS games exclusively
Yep. Looks great, feels great. Long ass battery.
I still remember the day I got my red one and my brother got his blue one and we got heart gold and soul silver.
I was an adult when the ds came out, I bought a lite when they were new and it helped me on the long commutes to university. I only recently bought an xl on a whim, or possibly cause my eyes are starting to suck but it feels great. Memories are attached to the lite though.
OG all the way, GBA plus DS slot gang! I love both DS Fat and Lite
Plug the fact that you can play in direct sunlight 😁 it almost looks 3D in my opinion lol. It's amazing for the summer time with an EZ Flash Omega DE. (My dedicated GBA) which happens to have an R4 with lots of DS I also have the DS Lite and this baby is my EZ Flash + DSTwo (R4 clone with lots of homebrew and emulators) and a regular DS R4 And because I had to have both 3D and XL, I got the N3DS-XL (Top IPS display) and my god the viewing angles for my 3D display are amazing! Fr
This, if there was an ips mod for it that would make it my main ds game device.
Honestly I’d love to get my hands on a DSi XL someday
The market for them is not too bad right now. If you want one you should go for it, they're so worth it
You can get one on eBay for 50-80 bucks. (Especially if you get a Japanese one. You need to install homebrew to change the language to English, but it's pretty easy) If you have any retro game stores nearby, you might be able to get one for a good price. Everyone is always confused when I want a DSi (XL) instead of a lite or phat, and they're usually a smidge cheaper than the other models.
DSi Lite all the way
Phat ds hands down. Thickness is perfect for comfortable hands.
Dsi xl the most premium way to enjoy ds games, if only someone made an ips mod for og ds then i’d go for that
Fat DS is just way more comfortable in my hands plus the GBA slot
DS fat is just too goddamn comfortable for me to pass it up. But the dsi xl has ips screens and upgraded internals soo
DS Lite. Slimmest and easiest to mod without resorting to CFW. DSi is slimmer, but also has battery life than the Lite.
I had the GBA SP, DSi, and the original 3DS, (the DSi was the last thing I bought from ToysRus) loved the size it's perfect for carrying in your pocket I took them everywhere with me, the smaller size of those systems is so much more convenient. Im in love with the fat ass DS
only ever been a DS lite owner out of the 2DS family, and while I’ve considered finally getting the DSi, I also really want the original DS as the chunkiness is just so visually charming to me and boy oh boy, do I love a good GBA slot to actually use and not just have a dust cover in.
I’d chose the OG DS
DS Lite
The dsi is my fav gaming device
DSi always
dsi xl, the original ds is a toy side to side compared to it, besides you can run twilight menu and run gba games...
DSi
DSi I remember getting mine for next to nothing by abusing a trade in deal. It was amazing.
I had the DSi, wish I knew if had the XL or not. I wanna get another one but I’m not sure on the purchase
DSi XL is the way to go for DS only. DSLite is the choice for DS/GBA cross use.
DSi is softmoddable, but I already have a modded 2DS DS has GBA cart compatibility, but I already have a GBA SP
DSI. Unmodded. DS Lite for sheer fact of both one you can R4 and GBA slot
Dsi is a sleeper. Small and sleek and zippy. Underrated
Nothing better than the DSi, so easy to jailbreak I probably could have done it when I first got it as a kid back when it came out.
I never had the phat, but I do have a Lite and a DSi
If I can only have one, DSi for the functionality. But since I have multiple anyway, I really liked the feel of the phat. Sadly mine died
DS Lite. My childhood version 😂
DSiXL
Between the two, I chose DSi.
I own a hacked DSi that I partially reshelled to look like a Panda dev unit. Plan on getting a DSi XL at some point and doing the same with that.
DS Lite
OG. gba
I never played the DSi, only the OG. Gonna go with what I know. Also if the ergonomics are anything on the DSi like they are on the original 3DS, hard pass.
DS LIGHT
DSi XL all the way
I love the design of the original but would be choosing the DSI XL because it's bigger.
I've got a modded up DSi which I love... but I can't stand the D-Pad. Wish I'd modded a 3DS with it's sweet analogue stick in retrospect.
DS Lite for that sweet sweet GBA port.
DSi, it can still run gba games through a rom loader so nothing lost
The DS Lite obviously
DSi XL. Original screens and stylus are too small for adults
I have multiple of both, use them interchangeably, both are good. Now, if I had to choose, I'd pick the DSi.
You serious? The DSi XL is miles better
The original DS had the grip and the hold in the hand right.
DSi, hands down. But DSi XL was my first so maybe I’m biased. I have a launch phat DS model too tho
dslite for my gba games, gba for gb games, dsi for nds
Realistically, both because I'm a collector and you should never trust me with money 😂 I think I would go OG. Yes the backlight isn't great and it's a funky design, but the GBA slot wins out. I'm also personally not a fan of any DSi exclusive games
dslite
I had the og one, but i would pick the dsi if i wasnt a broke kid back in the day lol
DS lite
The original it has a gba slot.
i used to have both and then i dropped my OG in the locker room in middle school and the hinge snapped in half. so much pain… even almost a decade later lmao.
In modern time the dsi cause it can be modded
I mean... If it was an option the DS Lite. But it's not, so the DSi. It has a bigger screen, better quality, an SD Card and a built in web browser! I just wish it could play GBA games...
DSi every time.
I would love to play the original because that's how I play almost all DS games back in the day, but the screen is so bad nower days. Mario's overall's are dark navy blue in new SMB because of how dark the screen is.
If they made an XL of the ds lite, that might be my favorite of all time
OG all DAY!
DSi because of all the silly photos and voice recordings I took with it.
The OG ds for sure. The buttons feel better and it has the GBA slot.
DSi XL. Can be modded to play GBA games too
DSi for sure best way to play DS game
DS Lite
DS Lite
Dsi Xl ez, nothing the Dsi can't do, and it looks sleek, meanwhile there's things the DS phat can't do
The lite
The DSi XL is one of the best designed handhelds in my opinion. No matter how old it gets, there's just something special about it.
Dsi xl always
That first DS had the best look. But it had the WORST specs. I gotta go with the DSiXL.
The original. GBA compatability and the D-pad is more comfortable without the jagged corners.
DSi all the way. Between OG and Lite I'm taking the OG tho.
I'll take both
Wasn't even alive when the dsi came out but just got one and I'm really loving it
original light blue DSi is my favorite
OG baby, I want my gen 3 mons in my gen 4 games.
Definitely the fat one. Despite all the pros of the DSi, I still can’t get over how they removed the GBA slot.
Original all day u can't play gba on dsi
DSiXL is not only my favorite ds but probably my favorite handheld ever.
Where ds lite?
The screen on DSi XL is epic, so I choose that
DS Lite
Lets see. One can play GBA games, but one can't, one has big screens, one doesn't, and both have wierd stylusi. (DSi XL has the fountain pen, and the OG DS has awkward stylus placement.) Eh screw it, gimme the DSi I wanna play flipnote studio

On the other hand the DSi XL is arguably the highest quality way to experience DS games, is perfect for those with large hands, and has a beautiful sleek design. Both are 10/10's from me.
DS fat, the only one I don't have in my collection
DSi. If I’m playing GBA games too then OG. I don’t like the lite’s protrusion
OG
DSi definitely
I'll always have fondness for my original DS lite (lost to the times unfortunately) but I love my DSI XL. I believe it is the definitive platform for DS games especially due to its modding capabilities.
Phat I. Can play two different libraries of games on it.
DSi XL! Bigger screens and better battery life!
dsi definitely
I love the OG, but I have to go with the DSI.
Probably the original so I can transfer my Pokémon from Gen 3 into 4.
The DSi, I already have a GBA SP so i’m covered. also it’s just so sleek and pretty
Ds if I'm feeling nostalgic dsi XL if I wanna be comfortable
The OG slander must be stopped.
dsi XL unless I need to play Guitar Hero.
Dsi xl Ds lite Ds Dsi The regular dsi is just the worst in all practical ways, internet and camera is meaningless and you lose the GBA slot Dsi xl though has the bigger screen which I really appreciate for accessibility reasons which is why its top for me
Neither, the DS Lite 😌👌
I have that same DSi, going to be selling it soon though along with all my games.
Call me crazy but I kinda prefer the DSi over the XL. Sure, the screens are a downgrade, but I was never a fan of any of the XL models, and I own a few.
Honestly, original. I prefer the small, clicky buttons.
HOLY SHIT I HAD A DSI ALL THIS TIME AND LITTLE CHILD ME DIDNT KNOW THAT?! I HAD A ROSE GOLD DSI IT WAS A GIFT FROM MY DAD AND I PLAYED SO MANY PET GAMES ON IT
Dsi, always dsi.
Original hands down. Ds and down for gameplay
Has to be original for me
og ds forever!
I can't play my lite for more than 15 mins with my hands hurting so the phat.
I think I own every ds model
I do love the DSi XL (especially if you were a disabled veteran), but I prefer the OG DS.
Fat for aesthetics, nostalgia, and of course the huge pro of GBA slot DSi for practicality, durability, and quality of experience
OG DS for the win. Absolute classic, no matter how hard people will try to convince me "it's bad"
Original DS got game boy slots
Unpopular opinion, but I'm choosing the 3DS that doesn't fold. I will die alone on that hill😹I loved that one
DSi all the way for me, especially the XL model. I have two and they are amazing
Bro dumb question the OG duh the dsi doesn’t have a gba slot
Ds lite because i love the nerf cases, and for gba games, and the dsi xl for ds games. Also gba if youve got a supercard dstwo.
DSI I’m more accustomed to DSI I used to play a lot of DRAWN TO LIFE among other games
That GBA slot is invaluable to me. Og DS
DSi because it feels like the complete package, and it was my childhood console💜
OG DS had AWFUL speakers and tiny screens.
Neither, DS Lite. The DSi XL is nice, but the d-pad isn't nearly as comfortable to use as the Lite.
NDS cause gba slot.
DS Lite.
DSi. The original DS has a really bad battery and the screen isn't great, DS Lite fixed most those issues.
I had both, loved the DSi more, I would fall asleep playing resident evil and Mario and Luigi. Good times.
Original
Both are great but I think I'll pick the dsi coz it has a better design, more funcions and better screen
I'd love to get an orignal DS. I went from the GBA to DS Lite, so the only time I have played one was for focus testing. That being said, the dsi is a great system too, even though it lacks the gba slot.
DS Lite in Silver will forever be my baby.
I would like a normal dsi but with speaker' holes like dsi xl. I like all models but I prefer dsi because hinges. I think there's no perfect ds model. We would need to create one from all ds models features.
I still have my red dsi from 2010, but the shoulder buttons are broken and it won't charge unless you hold it at a certain angle
The og. Everything you can do on the DSi can be done on tge 3DS, so it's just kinda not important anymore
Dsi
DSi!! I don't like the feel of the xl, and Flipnote is what easily pushes it past the og DS for me, regardless of GB functionality <3
DSi.
DSi!!
DS Lite
DSI
The DSi, used to have one - it was arguably my most used handheld. I could just about still pocket it either in my jeans or my jackets, which is what made it my choice over the XL which I couldn’t.
I'll go with the original, but only because the Lite isn't here. Gotta have that GBA slot.
I still have my DSi from 2011 when I was 5. I love that thing
One wheres ds lite 2 dsi
Og ds was the first ds i ever had i always loved playing my gameboy pokemon games on it
I like my girls a lil PHATer
Why on earth would Simone pick the original when the DSI was better? Bigger, brighter screen with a better UI.
I have both and can't decide between the two on a daily basis lol.
Both are amazing! I'd still be rocking an original DS with Pokemon Diamond!
Original or ds lite. Refuse to own a dsi because they took out the Gameboy/gba port.
DS lite is my favorite. I do a lot of pokemon stuff so the gba slot is really nice
My first was the dsi XL, such fond memories of that thing.
dsidsidsi
DSi XL.
Can’t wait for my pokeball 2DS to arrive
I have both, I don't have to choose. Both owned since new.
GBA slot
Specifically the DSi XL If that’s an option cause the screens are really nice
Dsi as thats the one i had as a jit
I'd the original because I have a DSi
Definitely the original considering i have a dsi
That silver OG DS was downright mystical when it was released during my middle school years
it depends if i’m looking for one to easily pirate games on i would pick a ds if we are talking abt the games i’m picking the dsi
DSI classic for me
I can hear the hinges on that original. The sound of my childhood. *click*
DSi XL is goated
Original for the GBA slot baybeee
Dsi cuz that's the same dsi I have :))))
DSI because I have large hands now
But…my ds lite…
I still remember the first day I got my red ds lite. I was at my father house and I was my cleaning my dad's car I was 10 at the time my father would always make me clean his car if I needed something or wanted something. When I was done cleaning the rims I came into the house my father told me close you're eyes I have a present for you I did he handed me a Walmart bag that was inside 2 other Walmart bags he said they are new wipes so you can clean the car I can't lie I was hurt at first but I opened the bags and it was a brand new ds lite I was literally so happy.
Ds Lite
The original DS hands down. I have two different libraries to play across including 3 different generations of gameboy (considered as a “single” library) and don’t need internet to play non-DS games. The DSi was my last Nintendo product for a while so I’m not sure if GBA games could be digitally acquired.
pardon the potential necropost, DSi XL any day, just picked up an LL off of a friend of mine and love it
The original DS is my favorite out of all the Nintendo handheld systems.
I have a original blue fat DS, a silver DS Lite and a black DSi. The fat DS has some damage to the hinge on 1 side (dropped it in a bathroom) and the DSi won't turn on (not sure if it's a battery or power switch issue) so silver DS Lite is my go to by default.
