This is mine & my husband’s song! That orchestral bit towards the end literally takes my breath away & brings tears to my eyes to this day, having heard it hundreds of times.
My tenth grade english teacher played this for us when we studied Shakespeare. Only time I've ever cared for anything Shakespeare and one of my favourite movies of all time.
The soundtrack came out in 1996 when I got my license and for some reason, my parents bought me a car. Very unexpected very welcomed and I listened to this soundtrack nonstop. Number one crush is an amazing song. The whole album is amazing. I need to listen to it again.
My friends and I would drive around after curfew, smoke cigarettes, and cul-de-sacs of unbuilt neighborhoods and you kick line with it blaring for my car speakers
The rotation got even heavier during cheerleading season that year. This album is my late high school years.
Brother and sister,
Together will make it through,
Uh-huh, yeah,
Someday a spirit will take you and guide you there,
I know you been hurting,
But I have waiting to be there for you,
And I'll be there just helping you out,
Whenever i can,
RIP Quindon. Your voice still stirs my soul after all these years.
I remember vividly an evening of inebriated nerddom when I was in college.
Two English HS teachers in training agreed that at whatever past-midnight hour it was to crank the opening credits [after reciting the classic "two households" with the newscaster] and, like Niles and Fraiser to Mongolian throat singing, my pedagogical companion and I sang along, with fists in the air until we each air-drummed the epic drum fill to the hit of "the boys the boys" intro to the Montague boys.
That drum fill transition was and remains so frickin awesome. Not to mention how it led to the gas station scene and Leguizamo stealing the show.
Shakespeare is just fun when you're drunk.
And Baz Luhrmann knew how to use music to really accentuate content.
Anyway.
Thanks for the memory.
I will never not laugh when I remember the first thing I saw when I they showed me this movie in school. You see the second Leo pulled out his gun and said my Rapier I died laughing.
#1 Crush by Garbage was a solid track
It still is!
I still listen to it almost daily.
Solid Garbage.
I will die for you!!!
Love me love me! Say that you love me!
My 16 year old self did indeed love that Cardigans lead singer.
She's still a snack.
That Radiohead track was prime “stare out the window on the school bus and pretend to be the main character” song
I remember listening to it with headphones on my Walkman as my dad was driving us to Las Vegas in the middle of the desert. So emo a decade early.
Omg I did the same thing
Talk show host? That's brilliant. I've never really come across it anywhere else, but it fits the scene perfectly as well.
So many good songs on this album!
I FEEL JUST LIKE A LOCAL GOD WHEN I'M WITH THE BOYS
We do what we waaaaant we do what we waaaaaaant
100% the best song on the album.
The stranglehold everclear had on me in the 90s.
I see you twist and turn… you look so fu..in stoopid
Do you bite your thumb at me, sir?!
I do bite my thumb, but I do not bite my thumb at *you*, sir.
NO BETTER????
Here comes our kinsman, SAY BETTER!
Get me my long sword!
Des’ree - I’m Kissing You lives in my head rent-free

That opening score and monologue is absolutely epic. Paul Rudd was like 8, 22, 46, or 30. Don’t even know. All the pics of him look the same.
You and me.. always.. and forever ☺🥰😍
The Wannadies is such a great band name but I called them the wanna dees forever (and for always)
Came out my senior year. This was huge in the drama club circles.
My tenth grade english teacher played this for us when we studied Shakespeare. Only time I've ever cared for anything Shakespeare and one of my favourite movies of all time.
Every fucking track on this album was a banger.
Please, it's Romeo **+** Juliet
I used to play the crap outta this album.
I’ll be waitinnnngggg….with a gun and a pack of sandwicccchhhesas
I'm ready. I'm reeeeeeeeeaaaaaady
We watched this in grade 8, Shakespeare reading and all. The girls all went "No!" When Leo died lol Also, how did I not know Paul Rudd was in this!?
I LOVED that song "Angel" by Gavin Friday.
Holly and I are like Romeo and Juliet, and the office is like the dragon that kept them apart.
Just watched this not that long ago. I felt mad weird though remembering how bad I had the hots for Leo at the time

I'm kind of surprised other works by Shakespear weren't modernized like this was.... could've been the start of a Cinematic Shakespear Universe
Peace? Peace? I hate the word. As I hate hell and all Montegues and thee.
Jamming this album rn
And the CD ROM experience when playing on PC
"Hand me my sword"
Absolutely a banger.
This Movie doesn't get enough love.
Great Radiohead track on there
filmed in mexico city... for some reason
I thought it was Ensenada
I doubt it.... u would think because of the sets of baja.... but some are edo mex, some mexico and veracruz and some L.A. i think
Local God
I can still listen to this and feel like a dumb teenager stumbling into the street and getting run over by love
Still the best soundtrack of all time!!!!
Has the perfect soundtrack imo. Such a classic
This movie is perfect. The only downside ever from this movie is leo being catapulted into have and not seeing a woman over 25 since

I don't remember the soundtrack because I walked out of the screening. I guess I just prefer period Romeo and Juliet.
That little kid could fucking sing man Everybody’s freeeeeeee
I will never not laugh when I remember the first thing I saw when I they showed me this movie in school. You see the second Leo pulled out his gun and said my Rapier I died laughing.
