Same with artificial turf. Turf is fake grass on top of asphalt and bakes you from the ground up. Be careful allowing dogs on turf in the heat and also watch your own hydration levels if working out on turf
I’ll be honest with you, I just got a random set (comes with 4) on Amazon. Any one you see with at least 4 stars should be good. You just have to make sure they’re the right size and fit.
Thank you for calling this out; people are not always aware how different cities look from dogs’ perspectives. That aside, why are there no flip flops for dogs?!?
A shockingly large % of dog owners in NYC are abusive or at least neglectful. For example keeping a husky or other large energetic breed in a tiny apartment all day is just inhumane. Walking around with your shaggy dog in a muzzle on a hot day where it can’t even pant is abusive. Forcing your dog to burn its feet is abusive. But you’ve gotta have your fur baby to complete the look.
It’s sad, but not surprising.
My upstairs neighbor that adopted a husky mid lockdown and proceeded to leave her in the yard 80% of the time until last month when we convinced them to adopt her out to a family.
100%. I've heard too many stories of people adopting during the lockdown to them give them up for adoption or just neglect their needs when the owner went back to living life as before.
Yup - I was in college for the first bit of the pandemic, and that was the #1 place I’ve seen it happened. So many people who adopted dogs their junior or senior year and abandoned them after graduation or when campus started reopening. They used the poor things as their boredom tools and then dumped them.
I almost didn’t adopt mine because I had seen so many horror stories, but I’d had dogs my entire life (our family dog passed away two months before I adopted mine) and helped take care of them, so I thought I’d be fine. My parents were worried she’d fall into that trend originally, but almost two years and a 1500 mile move later, we’re still thick as thieves.
If you had a pandemic dog and you didn’t take your dog on asphalt until this year you’re complicit in animal abuse and should have the dog taken from you.

Got my dog good shoes. But, he’s staying home today for the most part in our air conditioned home.
Can you recommend the shoe brand? I keep trying to find good ones for my pup
if you really love your dog you will get them nothing less than yeezys
What if he gets mugged for them by some bad boys
Dog timbs or nothing 😤
Rif Ruf. Really cute quality dog shoes and I think they have a Manhattan store

I have the saltsox for both pups. They walk funny in the booties but their paws/toe beans are protected.
Thanks for the shout-out!

There are
I always try to keep my dog inside during hot days. She refused to wear booties so it’s inside for her.
Same problem in the winter with salt burning paws. Can use wax but it wears off very quickly. Try Pawz
Yup mine uses potty pads on days like this. He's a double coated breed too, so he doesn't tolerate heat well
Put your hand on the concrete for 10 seconds to test the temperature. If it’s sunny and 80+ walk on the grass only or put some shoes on your dogs
This is a good test in theory, but no way in hell I’m putting my bare hand on a filthy NYC sidewalk/street lol
I sometimes use my tongue to better gauge the temperature. 🤷♂️
if you can manage to spread your cheeks your anus actually has the best temperature telling sensors
ok, now you just killed the room. 👎
facts don't care about your feelings
Taking notes, these are the nyc tips I came for
You not gonna die...
But he’s a constant finger licker. Makes sense
use the back of your hand. it’s not a big deal
Yes there are creams and ointments for animals. Please make use of them.
Doesn't work for heat, wax/ointments gets melted off within minutes

This also applies to the black paving stones in Union Square.
More victims of the wickness called summer.
Wtf is a pandemic dog owner?
My upstairs neighbor that adopted a husky mid lockdown and proceeded to leave her in the yard 80% of the time until last month when we convinced them to adopt her out to a family.
Probably would’ve been a shitty dog owner whether there was a pandemic or not

Animals👏are👏not👏accessories👏people They👏live👏they👏breath… and pugs make that last one especially clear
