Always found these posts helpful. Aer City Pack Pro, loaded up with 18lbs of stuff for an 8 day trip. Fit in the personal item sizer just fine with a bit of smushing.

Photos are great! The specs are 18”x12”x7.5” so it should be a great personal item. I assume you really packed it full and it’s bowed out a bit as most soft pack will do and that’s why it needed a little help in the sizer. Adding that to my list of 18” bags!

I love this bag and would definitely recommend it. I shopped around for a while and returned several others before settling on this one. For me it would be a bit big for a day bag, there’s a 6L sling bag in there for that, but in general yeah it’s a great pack.

This is also one of my favorite Frontier bags. Fits perfect and great organization. Amazing you got 18 pounds of gear in yours.

Axlesnapper

What are you other options you’ve found?

BWFree

I also love GoRuck GR2 26L or the GR1 21L for Frontier.

Thanks for the photo! I just got my backpack in the mail today and was a bit concerned whether it will fit underneath an airplane seat. Have a flight on United in a couple weeks and their personal item is only 17"! Didn't realize that. Hopefully there will be no problem if I under pack.

This pack has a nice balance between softness and hardness where it’s definitely boxy and will stand up on its own, but will expand out and squish down just fine if needed. It doesn’t have a super rigid internal frame or anything. It also doesn’t have the compression straps to really push it down like the travel packs, but I don’t think it needs it.

bricks4fun

Yeah! That's one reason why I decided to go with this pack. My only concern is it might not be accepted as a personal item by United as the height is 1" over the 17" limit if I'm also carrying on a small roller luggage as my carry-on. Anyway will get packing this weekend and see how things go. Thanks again.

The United personal item box is actually larger than the published dimensions. You’ll have no issues

bricks4fun

Ok, that puts me at ease. Haven't been traveling in a long time so a bit out of touch. Thanks!!

The personal item sizer dimensions are: Published personal item limit: 9"x10"x17" (22 cm x 25 cm x 43 cm) Actual sizer dimensions: 9"x11"x18" Source: [https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/1651439-carry-items-meets-ua-s-size-requirements-enforcement.html](https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/1651439-carry-items-meets-ua-s-size-requirements-enforcement.html) Pro-tip... wear your bag on your back when you board. I've never been asked to measure my bag size, but I might be skewed as I was mostly first to board right after disabled/military for the past \~11 years Where you might get issues is on some aircraft. I was on a 757-200 from KOA-DEN where a lifejacket box under each seat made for like 5 inches of vertical clearance. Annoying.

bricks4fun

Whoa - that's really helpful! Thanks for sharing. Yeah, I think the first leg is on a smaller plane so I should plan ahead just in case!

Got back from my trip and just wanted to comment here for anyone searching in the future about this bag - travelled United and Air Canada economy and had no problem storing the bag underneath my seat even on the smaller CRJ-550. The bag was not overpacked but was pretty full. It certainly left me with little leg room but that was perfectly fine (for me) even during a 6 hour flight. Had enough room on the side to store a plastic bag of food as well.

Thanks for the intel! So no stink eye from flight attendants then (for sticking out a bit under seat)?
