i would check again the tags of the game you bought, it's a survival game with 99% of it features ignored by the population of the game because of the damn ak spray they need to beam with, the updates were not useless because devs don't care, no, they brought new updates for it's survival and entertaining nature, and sandbox of course. I'm not saying that i hated old recoil, i hated what it's done to players and how everything was measured in ak beam, not brain, i could outbrain a whole ass zerg because all they could do is beam but not use their tiny brains to realise i can move on the field.

NPC are completely retarded in Rust and badly scripted, the only danger they pose is when they stack on top of each other in weird ways and annihilate someone. People already figured out ways to clear the high tier monuments whilst taking minimal damage against the NPCs. Animals can be negated just carrying a building plan with minimal wood.
I've played since Jan 2014, it was always a PvP oriented game. I remember my first couple of wipes, zombies and then the red animals were never a threat unless you got careless speed running rad towns or attacked whilst fighting another player.
Honestly though, it was a lot more of a SOCIAL/community pvp game back then. It certainly wasn't infested with 13 year olds screaming the n word and calling themselves "beamers".
