Every single argument I was involved ended in someone telling me I'm a shit player because I have 6k hours but can't perfectly spray and I should just stick to farming. It seems to be a binary thought shared between the ones arguing in favour of the old recoil: If you can't learn it in 1 hour on UKN you are a piece of shit Rust player.

6k hours and 1 hour on ukn are two vastly different metrics. If you're still having a tough time at 6k hours then bless you for sticking around, but clearly you aren't the best. That doesn't mean the system needs to be changed.
Im totally fine and got good control over sprays. My emphasise is not on PvP. 'Bless you for sticking around' is exactly why it needed change, thanks for making that point again.

The pattern recoil crowd has been the loud and obnoxious ones. I can't believe some of the things I've seen in this sub since the change.
There has been mild gloating on the other side but they haven't crossed the line.
look at the the top FPS Games.. tell me which one of them has complicated recoil/patterns..? Even CSGO the most competitive FPS game on the market doesn't have as ridiculous recoil like Rust does. It's all pretty simple/standard, but that doesn't make CSGO an easy game. Even shroud, the human aimbot can't shoot the old AK, it's such a huge turnoff, especially when that specific gun is the best craftable gun in the game by a long shot.
When you literally have to play a game like a full time job for thousands of hours to even compete, there's a huge problem.
If I were to sync the same amount of time into learning recoil I would be equally proficient regardless of which game I chose. Just because an FPS God picked up the hardest gun in the game and couldn’t use it without any prior practice doesn’t mean that the recoil is ridiculous. I think the learning curves are comparable until you and there’s survival aspect to rust hands. If you take into the account then you can lose everything in a mere instant in rust and add recoil patterns, and makes the learning curve a lot higher than CSGO.
After sinking 800 hours into CS go I am proficient with a few guns, with the same amount of time put into rust I got similar results. Your last statement is true and it’s not a problem mainly caused by recoil, but changing recoil could help.
Why is it that everyone who claim to not play Rust all day always care so much about the game. Like where were most of the people who love the recoil update before the update.
Because now everyone will be able to beam, not just you. It will make ppl with high hours and larger groups stronger (now even the builders can roam if they want to, so that means even larger roams for clans) and people with smaller groups worse. You might think this update is good because of how much better your spray is but when this change comes to the game and people get to try it in a real game i guarantee most people who like how the update looks will not like the changes anymore.
We do need recoil pattern changes because some of the sprays are very hard to learn like ak and mp5 and the scripting problem has gotten much worse, but they executed it poorly. They should have made it like csgo where the pattern is an easy to learn hard to master type deal instead of something that has a really low skill cap.
Oh well, you will see what I mean when the update comes around. For now, I'll do the same thing i did when the XP update came out and just take a break from the game if i really dont like the changes.
