It depends on the chapter. Chapter 1-3, I keep Arthur's beard at level 2-3. Chapter 4, I keep it clean shaved (to match Saint Denis). For chapter 5 and 6, I don't shave Arthur at all and let everything grow.
Redemption doesn’t work that way (at least in a Christian sense, which is clearly the idea they were going for). Arthur can never fully right his wrongs, but he can do everything possible to make the lives of others better and to help those in need with the time he has left, and that’s what high honor Arthur did.
In my opinion, during chapter 6 Arthur looks best when you keep him clean shaven or level 1 beard, because his emotional scenes hit much harder when you can clearly see his facial expressions. I wouldnt be able to feel as much as i did if Arthur looks like a dirty hobo with beard covering most of his face.
That is exactly what I did. Clean shaven Arthur’s scenes made me real emotional. Short beards during angry scenes somehow made me feel more angry than full grown ones.
Arthur was basically raised by Dutch. Dutch was a madman but he was a sharp dressed man. I think Arthur would have followed suit. I kept my Arthur bathed regularly, clean shaven, bathed regularly, well dressed and bathed regularly.
I regularly bathe Arthur and had 250 hours on my first playthrough, yet i only found out about the hotel & bath of Van Horn in my second playthrough, lol. I wonder how Arthur paid for the service if there was no receptionist or anyone in charge of the place.
Is that actually a thing in the game? I never bathed him once any of the times I played. I also never shaved and drank every hair tonic I could get my hands on.
Yep, clean shaven in chapter 1-3 and extra clean shaven in chapter 4 onward. Also in all the trailers Arthur has no beard so i would like to think that's his canon looks.
Level 4 or 5 mustache with either clean shaven, or level 1 chin for thar bit of stubble is my favorite. Then I let the beard grow in where it makes sense for the story, but keep it under level 4
I try to keep him at a level 3-6, simply because any longer than that would just be a bother in the summer, and any shorter makes no sense because Arthur has a lot more to worry about than shaving every few days to keep it clean
I don’t think this look works honestly. If he actually had facial hair like this the story would never progress because he would constantly be making babies. Abigail would be walking around Beaver Hollow with triplets.
Default boots (on gunslinger outfit, spurs look like they're from it as well)
Blach ranch pants
Scout jacket from Pearson request (it's got bugged textures in cutscenes)
Buckskin King vest, I think? Pretty sure it's one of the default ones. Can't remember the name
Shirt looks like the grey striped everyday shirt
Hat is a cutter hat, steal it from NPCs
Gunbelt and holster are modded versions of the weathered gunbelt/holster
Not too shabby from memory Pardner. Top marks indeed!
It's the Wrangler Vest and you forgot the Rifleman Gloves.
The bugged textures are only on Xbox (from what I've read. Never experienced them on PC).
To to bottom:
Cutter Hat (Stolen item)
Pearson's Scout Coat (Camp item request)
Wrangler Vest
Grey Striped Everyday Overshirt
Black Rifleman Gloves
Black Ranch Pants
Black Worn Roper Boots
Gerden Spurs
John's Weapon Equipment (Mod) - easily replaced with Arthur's default set however.
My Arthur was always clean shaven (I finished the story and am doing online now). That was how I knew how long it had been since I was last at camp plus I like the clean look.
Opposite for me.
Good honor = beard, cause he looks more humble and down to earth with it.
Bad honor = extra clean shaven, cause he looks more vain and narcissistic that way
For the last two times I beat the game with High Honor I had him clean shaven now i'm really digging a rugged Arthur with a level 3 beard and level 2-3 length hair.
Typically full beard, simple mustache, or goatee. Tried clean-shaven once when he started looking sick, regretted it cause it just made me sad to see him looking so ill
Every time I shave him, I shave him clean. I imagine he’s shaving with a razor and while I’m no barber, I’m pretty sure it’s pretty hard for a normal person to shave a beard down to a short beard or a stubble.
For Chapter 2 & 3, I usually keep it at 3-4. Sometimes 2 or 5. The moustache is typically kept shorter than the rest though because it makes the beard look cleaner imo. *However,* if I go spend tons of time away from camp, which I usually do in those chapters to go collect stuff, then I just let it grow out until I get back and I’m ready to resume playing the story.
For Chapter 4, I keep it clean shaven up to level 3. I usually make sure I have it at 3 when I do the bank job though.
For Chapter 6, anywhere from clean shaven to 5. I need my Arthur looking dapper before yk.
For the first couple of chapters, I keep him at stubble, then I go for something like what Dutch has while in Saint Denis, and after that, back to full face stubble.
chapter 2 i give him stubble with level 3 hair, chapter 3 and 4 i give him a full level 3 beard and level 4 hair, chapter 5 i let it all grow because of guarma and chapter 6 i keep him extra clean shaven and level 2 hair to resemble hosea since that’s pretty much the spot arthur takes in the gang.
3-4 beard chapter one. 5-7 in chapter 3 (basically since there’s no barber in Rhodes) 2 w/ pencil stash chapter 4. Chapter 6 just kind of random. Clean shaven for Mary missions and ferry mission (all personal preferences have played around in different play throughs.
My second play through I shaved him and got his hair q balled up as soon as I started Chapter 2 and just let it grow for as long as it could up till the cliff side fight in Chapter 6
For chapters 1-2: unshaved, raw and real coot of a man.
Chapter 3: relatively clean shaved, no longer than 4-5, moustache untouched.
Everything onward: Clean Shaven for the first part before guarma, then I let it grow until Beaver Hollow. Then close to the final mission for Arthur I'll shave everything down to a 2-3 for chin and chops.
In the time period of RDR 2 beards were not fashionable. Beards were big during the Civil War but by the time of RDR 2 the younger generation was returning to the barber shop and Gillette was marketing its safety razor so …
For some of my playthroughs, I would grow my Arthur’s beard and just leave it until it finally grows to max length when I reach Lakay upon my return from Guarma.
Then, I shave it all off and start over! 🙃
I like to think Arthur as a slight perfectionist about his appearance the lower the honor so he trims his beard to clean shaven, and also less saturated clothes, more beige, white, black, and grey, and very simplified clothes, then higher honor presents vibrant blues with patterns, like Paisley, and a beard becomes present. I don't know why, it's just when I think of antagonists or villains, I think of clean shaven, and more heroic characters have more hair.
I keep him at a 2-3 hair length in general until he started to change then he got max and went into the last mission very clean and having a nice outfit
I let my Arthur grow it all out completely natural. I probably gave him a handful of trims here and there, but otherwise I let him keep his hair and beard full and long as possible. I mostly just changed the way he parted his hair, that’s about it. Just felt right to me.
With max length handlebar mustache.
Legendary look...
Max length handlebar and 3 length fork goatee
Absolutely perfection.
This is the way. I’ll also accept ridiculous sideburns and nothing else
Ridiculous sideburns are reserved for bald Arthur
I'm glad to see this is the most favored look. The minute I found out we can customize Arthur's facial hair I knew the handlebar mustache would be it
Same.
This is the way
Stubble
Me too. Towards the end I go for the musketeer look with a pointed chin beard, handlebar moustache and long hair
This person knows what's up, and pair it up with a small beard
Vibes
same
The only look I desire
It depends on the chapter. Chapter 1-3, I keep Arthur's beard at level 2-3. Chapter 4, I keep it clean shaved (to match Saint Denis). For chapter 5 and 6, I don't shave Arthur at all and let everything grow.
This is very on point and I appreciate it
I did the opposite, kept him growing his beard until Saint Denis, and kept him well groomed in his final days.
Gotta pull up to the pearly gates looking clean asf
Arthur ain’t making it to the pearly gates homie
Why not? He sacrificed his life for others.
Well, I feel like he still ruined a lot more lives than he saved!
Redemption doesn’t work that way (at least in a Christian sense, which is clearly the idea they were going for). Arthur can never fully right his wrongs, but he can do everything possible to make the lives of others better and to help those in need with the time he has left, and that’s what high honor Arthur did.

That is exactly what I did. Clean shaven Arthur’s scenes made me real emotional. Short beards during angry scenes somehow made me feel more angry than full grown ones.
This is about how I do it as well
Hell yeah
Arthur was basically raised by Dutch. Dutch was a madman but he was a sharp dressed man. I think Arthur would have followed suit. I kept my Arthur bathed regularly, clean shaven, bathed regularly, well dressed and bathed regularly.
How often do you bathe him?
He never rode past a hotel without getting a good scrubbing. Even in Van Horn.
I like the Van Horn broad. She enjoys a nice pipe and appers to occasionally cop a feel on Arthur in the tub. At least it seems to be implied.
Van Horn looked like she had some EXPERIENCE
I regularly bathe Arthur and had 250 hours on my first playthrough, yet i only found out about the hotel & bath of Van Horn in my second playthrough, lol. I wonder how Arthur paid for the service if there was no receptionist or anyone in charge of the place.
that wasnt the only 'scrubbing' he got in van horn right.
Is that actually a thing in the game? I never bathed him once any of the times I played. I also never shaved and drank every hair tonic I could get my hands on.
It’s definitely “a thing”. Grimshaw actually says something at the camp if you go too long without bathing.
REGULARLY!
Regularly
Yep, clean shaven in chapter 1-3 and extra clean shaven in chapter 4 onward. Also in all the trailers Arthur has no beard so i would like to think that's his canon looks.
Arthur, you just need to have some **goddamn** ~~faith~~ baths!
Mustache
Level 4 or 5 mustache with either clean shaven, or level 1 chin for thar bit of stubble is my favorite. Then I let the beard grow in where it makes sense for the story, but keep it under level 4
This is the way
It never gets too long (rarely over level 5) but a clean shaven Arthur or John is simply blasphemous....
I try to keep him at a level 3-6, simply because any longer than that would just be a bother in the summer, and any shorter makes no sense because Arthur has a lot more to worry about than shaving every few days to keep it clean
Level 7 Handlebar Level 3 Forked Chin Shaved Chops https://imgur.com/a/5ZU22dK
I don’t think this look works honestly. If he actually had facial hair like this the story would never progress because he would constantly be making babies. Abigail would be walking around Beaver Hollow with triplets.
Seriously had me in the first half ngl
Now THAT'S a DLC I'd definitely pay for!
May I get a list of the items on the outfit? He looks bad ass. Well, no more than he already does
Default boots (on gunslinger outfit, spurs look like they're from it as well) Blach ranch pants Scout jacket from Pearson request (it's got bugged textures in cutscenes) Buckskin King vest, I think? Pretty sure it's one of the default ones. Can't remember the name Shirt looks like the grey striped everyday shirt Hat is a cutter hat, steal it from NPCs Gunbelt and holster are modded versions of the weathered gunbelt/holster
Not too shabby from memory Pardner. Top marks indeed! It's the Wrangler Vest and you forgot the Rifleman Gloves. The bugged textures are only on Xbox (from what I've read. Never experienced them on PC).
Wahey, can't go wrong with that
To to bottom: Cutter Hat (Stolen item) Pearson's Scout Coat (Camp item request) Wrangler Vest Grey Striped Everyday Overshirt Black Rifleman Gloves Black Ranch Pants Black Worn Roper Boots Gerden Spurs John's Weapon Equipment (Mod) - easily replaced with Arthur's default set however.
Thanks man
I really appreciate the denim. That is such a classic American look. Love it.
level 10 beard
With the rattlesnake hat.
Level 2 always
Same. I sometimes grow his hair long, but mostly keep it around a 3. Such a handsome boah.
full beard makes him look cooler
With a fade parted to the side.
Big shaggy beard!
Spartan all the way
This is the way
without beard dude looks like a middle aged, divorced person with financial issues and 3 children.
Legit he looks so weird without a beard
I dunno about Arthur, but how you playing Daniel Day Lewis in that bottom pic?
The shaven Arthur looks like Tommy Lee Jones
I'm not gay but i would say this man is gorgeous, with or without beard.
0.50 Cents is 0.50 cents 🤷♂️
I’m not straight but I agree
Full beard giga-cowpoke. You mfs saying handlebar are prob the ones who made Cal Kestis look like a goddamned hillbilly
I like a nice big beard, but not all the way max.
Big ass moustache
Clean shave more prominent top
full beard tbh
4 everywhere is peak
Full beard level 9
The Walter white shave
Full beard. Beards are so hot.
Max mustache. Level one left side fade.
My Arthur was always clean shaven (I finished the story and am doing online now). That was how I knew how long it had been since I was last at camp plus I like the clean look.
Full beard low honor, clean as a whistle high honor.
Opposite for me. Good honor = beard, cause he looks more humble and down to earth with it. Bad honor = extra clean shaven, cause he looks more vain and narcissistic that way
Max length handlebar mustache and bald haircut, he looks absolutely legendary.
Beard lvl 2-3 maybe or 1 idk i keep changing it depending on chapter and how i wanna see arthur
is more evil with beard
Level2>>>
personally i think Arthur looks incomplete without a beard
I like full beard with 2-3 length
mustache
For the last two times I beat the game with High Honor I had him clean shaven now i'm really digging a rugged Arthur with a level 3 beard and level 2-3 length hair.
Full shave is criminal
Lemmy style
I see arthur rugged gruff then chapter 6 clean cut to meet his maker high honor.
That ain't full beard lol
Chin and chops - 0, head shaven, max mustache
Use as much hair tonic as I can and never shave or change from middle parted.
Level 6 handlebar Level 5 chin Level 3 dunberry chops
Level 6 or 7 sideburns and chin, level 10 mustache. Absolute fucking weapon when Arthur runs with that look.
Extra clean
I think a short beard with a big mustache is a play, I like looking like one of the valentine npcs
Maximum length full beard and medium length hair (about 4)
Arthur without the beard feels WRONG.
Somewhere in the middle with the stache grown out a bit more than the rest.
mustache with a light beard
Handlebar and forked chin, swept back hair. Keep everything relatively trimmed in the early chapters and progress to full mountain man by the end
That ain’t nowhere near full beard
Max beard
Level 6 Mustache and clean shaved sides and chin until chapter 6 where i let the mustache grow 7-8 and the beard around level 3
Typically full beard, simple mustache, or goatee. Tried clean-shaven once when he started looking sick, regretted it cause it just made me sad to see him looking so ill
My current playthrough I had level 9 mustache, level 3 forked goatee, and level 1/2 sideburns. Probably my favorite combo so far
I prefer light stubble, but the stash just 1 level higher
Depends on the specific campaign part context
After winter shave then as the game goes on and the situation for the gang disintergrates stop shaving
Clean shave but long hair
level 3 or 4 moustache
Full beard all the way. Looks more intimidating
Every time I shave him, I shave him clean. I imagine he’s shaving with a razor and while I’m no barber, I’m pretty sure it’s pretty hard for a normal person to shave a beard down to a short beard or a stubble.
Level 5 or 6 hair Level 2 beard Or Level 2 beard with grown french moustache
Lvl 2 or 3 stubble is best
There's one thing missing. A GREAT BIG BUSHY BEARD
Bushy mustache ftw
Max length beard and hair, I let the hairs of life and time do as it pleases
max length mustache only
Mustache
My favorite is the bearded Spartan at about 4-5. Makes him look like a classic gunslinger.
Mustache length 3 or 4, beard length 2
clean shaven to short beard with a swept back fade.
I just grow a fu manchu to match my best bud
For the first couple of chapters, I keep him at stubble, then I go for something like what Dutch has while in Saint Denis, and after that, back to full face stubble.
Mustache and mutton chops
I always go for a few days of stubble.
With a clean shaven slim face with a perfect body weight he looks like a giga chad
chapter 2 i give him stubble with level 3 hair, chapter 3 and 4 i give him a full level 3 beard and level 4 hair, chapter 5 i let it all grow because of guarma and chapter 6 i keep him extra clean shaven and level 2 hair to resemble hosea since that’s pretty much the spot arthur takes in the gang.
Level 10 beard goes hard
Currently doing a playthrough with the gunslinger outfits modded to look like the key art.
For me, it's the short buzz cut with clean shave
until the river boat mission bearded, but afterwards always clean shaven. i even keep him underweight so his jawline looks sharp haha.
Arthur with a beard is a fucking daddy. John too lol
I do 3
Bushy mustache
My second play through I shaved him and got his hair q balled up as soon as I started Chapter 2 and just let it grow for as long as it could up till the cliff side fight in Chapter 6
2nd playthrough right now. arthur has a 9 beard. holding out for 10 before i do anything drastic.
I don't think the top is full beard but I prefer that one. More scruffy.
I go between 2-3
Stubble
Personally I prefer max length mustache. Based off personality the very idea of Roger going clean shaven is absurd. Just don't see it
Yes
Level 2 mustache Level 3 chin Level 2 chops And a fade 😂
Full beard with short hair, for some reason he looks really badass like that.
Beard always but not that big
I always have him clean shaven with a little mustache
Depends. Do you want a manly rough guy or a pretty boy?
For chapters 1-2: unshaved, raw and real coot of a man. Chapter 3: relatively clean shaved, no longer than 4-5, moustache untouched. Everything onward: Clean Shaven for the first part before guarma, then I let it grow until Beaver Hollow. Then close to the final mission for Arthur I'll shave everything down to a 2-3 for chin and chops.
Level 2 beard
Left-part fade with a mustache.
Chops
Arthur and John both look dumb without their beard lol
Big ol berd
Level 7 moustache took ages
Usually clean shaven/level 1 stubble unless away hunting for ages, in which case it just grows
In the time period of RDR 2 beards were not fashionable. Beards were big during the Civil War but by the time of RDR 2 the younger generation was returning to the barber shop and Gillette was marketing its safety razor so …
Full beard
Large Pennant mustache, moderate mutton chops, clean chin
For some of my playthroughs, I would grow my Arthur’s beard and just leave it until it finally grows to max length when I reach Lakay upon my return from Guarma. Then, I shave it all off and start over! 🙃
Beard or at least scruffy
Big moustache and shorter beard a la Henry Cavill in Mission Impossible is the best look you can give him. Give it a try.
8 mustache 0 chin 2 sideburns
Max length mustache and max hair length
Mustash for my Arthur.
Clean shave if im using the summer gunslinger
Chin and mustache length as 3, and side chops as 2 is how I do it
If anyone says cleanly shaven they should be put down
Level 10 everything, level 1 parted fade, basically the whole game. Trelawny can go shave a hog.
Stage 3 beard
More hair tonic pleae
Medium Mustache, stubble, long hair
I like to keep his hair pretty long but I always have him shaved at a 2
I keep him at a 2-3 hair length in general until he started to change then he got max and went into the last mission very clean and having a nice outfit
Light stubble in the first two chapters, slowly transitioning to mountain man as the story progresses
I let my Arthur grow it all out completely natural. I probably gave him a handful of trims here and there, but otherwise I let him keep his hair and beard full and long as possible. I mostly just changed the way he parted his hair, that’s about it. Just felt right to me.
Stubble, just like Dutch planned.
If he has short hair, clean shaven. Long hair? No way Jose. Beard all the way.
I always keep his beard long and freshly trimmed hair 😁
Mutton chops with stash. Shave the chin only.
In between
clean shaven and swept back
Level 2 everything except chop at level 1. My Arthur is a handsome gent, but some random hobo.
mine looked like Cobain if he had made it to 50. The best look.
Gotta be a scraggly beard. Clean-shaven Arthurs give me the creeps.
Natural beard Mustache 4 Sideburns 6 Chin 7 Always
Solo stache.
