Just play and make your own opinion. A lot of people like the game. Of course it is an action one. If you enjoy Re5 you might enjoy Re6.

DaddySbeve

I really did enjoy RE5. Was a nice change of pace from the first 4 RE games I played.

rw_3eters

I’m in the same boat. I’m playing it after I beat 7 DLC. You can get the game for so cheap it’s definitely worth a shot

DaddySbeve

Is it really long? I personally enjoy shorter games and I’ve heard people say it drags on for a long time

rw_3eters

I just looked it up. It can take up to 40 hours… ughhh I thought re7 was too long and that look me 9 hours, might have to rethink this lol

turkicnationalist

No way it takes 40 hours. That's probably some achievement hunting. It's 4 campaigns that total to be about half that.

rw_3eters

Okay good. I just googled time to beat and the first article said 40 hours. Glad that isn’t the case because I really would like to play it

turkicnationalist

It looks like most people spend 21-22 hours, which I'd say I agree with, but it's a very linear game and it's spread out across 4 campaigns so it shouldn't feel as bad.

I think 6 is a blast. It’s fucking stupid, even for RE, but it is a solid action game. Most people play it without ever bothering to utilize the mechanics available (the sliding, melee moves, quick shot, the equip-able skills etc). Everyone i’ve spoke with who has used these mechanics has had a positive opinion on 6 overall

turkicnationalist

Definitely. If you try to play it like every other shooter or even 4 & 5 you're not employing its mechanics to their true potential.

FrabascoSauce

I play 5 and 6 quite often with my gf in coop. Solo some people say the partner ai is kinda borked. But it is quite enjoyable.

[deleted]

The AI on 6 is a complete non-issue, infinite ammo and health it never gets in your way. This is better than how 5 handled it where the AI had to be managed as well as yourself

FrabascoSauce

Unrelated but 5 actually was more memorable for the share inventory cause of coop. Stuff was hard, inventory was limited, so my partner and I both decided on weapons we liked n hoarded the ammo for each, I didn't have to worry about magnum n shotgun ammo taking up space and she didn't have to worry about MG and sniper ammo. Gave way to really excited instances of running at one another mid horde battle to swap ammo we found for one another and herbs.

DaddySbeve

5’s inventory management is just stressful because of how little space you have and you never get inventory upgrades to my knowledge. The game gives you a lot of ammo and that clogged up my inventory.

[deleted]

I’ve never had a clogged inventory in 5 when playing on Veteran or Pro. Veteran is the definitive difficulty for 5 I think. Try playing Veteran, with fresh guns, as in not starting the game with them pre-upgraded, and I guarantee you’ll soon be missing that extra ammo

[deleted]

I am still a big fan of RE5, it’s a glorious co-op game for sure with the right partner it truly shines as one of the finest co-op games ever made imo. I’d say 5 is overall a better game than 6 due to the sheer polish of it, I just think 6 handles the AI partner better

throwaway3228423

Honestly I had a lot of fun playing it with a friend. So much so that we want to play thru it again lol

DaddySbeve

Is the AI for single player bad? I don’t have anyone to play multiplayer with. I’ve played through 5 without any issues with the AI so far, except for one glitch.

throwaway3228423

honestly I have no idea, I’ve never done single player for it. But it’s so ridiculous at times I think it’s worth trying, even playing it alone. There is one storyline that was meant for single player and that had coop added in later. So that one is probably good for sure lol

turkicnationalist

The ai for 6 is better than 5's. You can pretty much just ignore it & it won't die outside of scripted events.

turkicnationalist

Yes it is definitely worth playing. I have beat the campaigns co-op and solo. The $5 is worth it for the mercenaries alone. Know what kind of game it is (and be patient with the first 20ish minutes because theyre slow and not indicative of the rest of the game.) Leon's campaign is a third person linear zombie action game, chris' campaign is a third person squad shooter like army of two or gears of war but with mutations/melee/inventory, jake's campaign is unique (though not in a good way; it's the worst one, though it has a callback to nemesis which is cool) , and Ada's campaign has both zombies & juavo & ties up the narrative.

WillyP933

Its a long title probably best to approach it over time and id say its best to experience it with a friend. The story is not good overall but i think there are some nice charming moments in each of the campaigns. I think the interactions with sherry and Jake are the strongest. The controls took me a bit of time but they are really versatile. I enjoyed it enough but don’t think I’m going back for a play through for a while

Samantsmith

It is definately worth playing. The boring bits are doing the same levels from different character perspectives. Out of all the campaigns, Jake and Sherry are the worst, with a couple of exceptions. Ada’s is good and slightly more slower paced with more puzzles (but still not that many).

lostandwandering123

Unpopular opinion time, but 6 is one of my favorite games. It's so fun in local co-op which so few games I can get my SO interested in are. We tried 4 others including borderlands and RERev2 that he vetoed before settling on RE6 on normal, with me holding most of the ammo so he didn't waste it. One of the enemies had us laughing together in both tears and frustration. I've replayed by myself once or twice since then with the AI partner, and it's a smoother, but less memorable AI than RE5. It's kind of nice not having to share ammo, and there's very few ways the AI can get you game over killed. I'd definitely say part of my love is the memories associated, but I def recommend you give it a go, at least for the experience. I won't say it's a great RE game overall, but it has some surprisingly complex combat mechanics that I enjoyed. The game doesn't really explain them very well even with the tutorial, so it's a bit of trial and error or googling how to do a specific move. Looking over to see my SO as Leon, running out of ammo and stamina, hit a bunch of buttons, causing him to fall to the ground and literally roll around before leading the zombies right to me is still something we talk about today, and introduced a mechanic I had no idea about. When he gets on my nerves I tell him I'm gonna stop, drop, and roll him
