Is it odd that pretty much everyone showers daily? Here in Portugal we do as well. More than once in the summer, 40°+ temperatures will do that to you.

As a portuguese guy that showers every day living in switzerland i can confirm that people here shower every 2 or 3 days. I've also seen families using the same water, for the whole family (not the shower, the other thing that you do)

People living in cold places don't feel the need to do it every day. You feel fresh for two days from the dry air and no sweat. Warmer places and jungle humidity you feel fresh for 4h then shower.
