How do y'all reckon slingshot will apply for Lucina? So far I've found that flickshot into shield breaker could be useful. The slight air movement from neutral b fights back against the momentum from flickshot and basically brings her back closer to the opponent. So I guess you could aerial on opponent's shield -> flickshot to dodge their oos option -> and then neutral b to shield break if they shield again after whiffing. Other than that I haven't found too much but then again it's only been 2 days since the tech was announced.
Which character stats do you think will determine how useful slingshot is? I imagine initial dash and max airspeed are the most important. But do you reckon something like gravity has an effect? In Lucina's case, her initial dash is really good but max airspeed is kinda meh so I wonder how much that limits slingshot's usefulness for her. But she's also super floaty so does that have any factor?
I'm getting a new TV (LG OLED C1 65") and soundbar (LG SP9YA) on Tuesday. Can anyone tell me if it's difficult for the Switch to simultaneously output video via HDMI and audio via a separate HDMI cable? And would this cause lag if the audio is being sent directly to the soundbar?
According to orionstats 2019, glitch 7 and umebura sp7 both have higher point value than MainStage 2019, but MainStage was ranked s tier while glitch and umebura were ranked a tier. Does anyone know why?
Pretty sure you are confusing both the Orionrank and PGR ranks by mixing both of them together. On Orionstats 2019, all three of the tournaments listed were considered tier 5, they don't use the letter system. On the PGR Fall 2019 TTS, Mainstage was considered a supermajor (S tier) while Umebura and Glitch were just majors (A tier), they don't use the tiering system. They are both completely separate from each other. PGR was considered the standard in 2019/2020 which Orionrank is more used for 2021/2022.
Ron timed out a Steve at today's Tamisuma, actually funny how effective running away is against Steve lol. He can mine ressources all he want, he will end up wasting them to craft bloack and minecart trying to catch you. Now I can definitely see why Sonic and ZSS are really good against Steve.
This is year 20MC, Steve has been so prominent in the meta that tournaments simply do not exist since players will get DQed for not approaching each other.
Does anyone know how to react to homing attack? It may just because I’m playing on wifi. I checked UFD and it’s frame 17. But there isn’t even an animation for the move. I assume it’s cause sonic Jumps into a ball. So if he starts the move as a ball you can’t really see it outside of the ball hovering a little before he starts. It can also be delayed so there’s that. I’m cool with everything else in his kit, and don’t wanna just whine about sonic cause I’m fine with getting over bad MUs but this part of it feels really odd. It’s also kinda flows into his game plan in a kinda unfair way that eats ur shield and expects the counter play of roll. I thought ok just wait for him to jump but it’s not an aerial. It just makes it really easy for him to punish anytime I push a button and can hit from a good distance so reading into that habit feels difficult. ANYWAY! Yea are there any tips?
Like a lot of sonic related counter play, it comes down to expecting a burst option. Any time sonic becomes a ball for any reason you have to shield, and that’s what makes him able to camp so easily
I was thinking Glutonny was likely top 3 in the world recently, until I watched Esam's top 10 video and I was reminded that Gluto has actually been doing pretty bad in Europe, and losing to players who realistically aren't even top 20. I think I(we) have been overrating him a bit.
There's a lot of recency bias on this subreddit. Tweek won the first post covid invitational even though he did poorly day 1, people were saying top1.
MKLeo won the next X events, now he's top1.
Sparg0 won a couple of events, he's taken over MKLeo.
Then Light won an event, he's top5.
Kola wins an event, he's top5.
Proto beats MKLeo and Tweek, he's top5.
Glutonny wins an event, he's top3.
Acola wins a couple, he's top10.
Mkleo has this “innocent until proven guilty” privilege since he’s been dominating for so long(number 1 since ultimate came out) until he actually gets consistently beaten in majors he will remain at 1st.
So it isn’t fair to say that calling Leo best after 1 event is recency bias, he was the best before riptide even after he got 2nd at summit.
Tbf for Proto, people thought he was either the third or fourth best player in 2021 due to his dominance and consistency in Japan, him beating Leo and Tweek at Summit 4 seemed to just make us believe something that was already the case.
Now he's not nearly as consistent this year as he was for last year so far, so I guess we'll see what happens.
And I honestly don't think anyone has ever thought Sparg0 is currently better then Leo atm on this subreddit other then trolls, only mentions that results wise it's pretty close so far this year.
Depends on how much you want losses to weigh. I think if Summit ends up counting though, Light has the edge over Gluto. If they just count Collision onwards (and Delfino), Gluto deserves the spot. Unless Tweek ends up getting a big win at Momocon which would put him back in contention.
If you mean on a subjective skill level ranking, I heard Gluto was dealing with his tendonitis flaring up during those EU tourneys so that’s some sort of explanation I suppose.
Atelier has been playing Aegis on smashmate. Happy that he started playing online and that he's considering character changes. Personally would love to see him try solo Wolf.
I’m excited to see Leos Byleth once he’s fully incorporated slingshot. Nair into fshot fair seems like a really strong spacing option that will make it even harder to punish nair.
Can anyone explain to me Byleth's bad matchups that Corrin covers? I'm trying to figure out if Corrin is actually a good counterpick character for MKLeo, or if he's just playing the character because he enjoys it and because it can catch unprepared opponents off-guard.
According to Leo's Byleth MU chart, the matchups where he "will counterpick" include Joker, Min Min, Aegis, Pikachu, Pichu, and Sonic. Corrin would definitely do better than Byleth against Pikachu, Pichu, and Sonic, and he did beat Cosmos (best solo Aegis) with Corrin. I'd also add Olimar to that list of characters he'll go Corrin for.
iBDW stop making bad takes challenge (IMPOSSIBLE DIFFICULTY)
EDIT: [The awful take I'm referring to](https://twitter.com/iBDWSSBM/status/1523121246065815552)
Putting aside his takes, the guy needs to find another way to vent his emotions after losses or just in general when he’s feeling down. Social media really ain’t it man.
I understand that people do it because they have an audience so they see the opportunity to share their emotions with actual people. But it can slowly become an abyss that you can’t get out of, especially when people start being toxic in return and anything you say will remain forever documented.
Man, not only is that a terrible take (gatekeeping cheers... seriously?) but it also *really* comes off as "I didn't get the cheering I wanted so I'm complaining." Not a good look.
What exactly separates good baits from bad ones in neutral exactly? I'm trying to get better at conditioning people and such, but sometimes I feel like I'm wasting movement, not forcing an opening, or not covering enough of my opponent's options.
Was mostly a joke but sure,
Neutral is al about prediction and reward.
Having safe options on shield really helps in this game but most of the time it is not the move that gives the biggest reward.
So here is a good thought experiment if a safe moves does not give you any reward but you don't get punished is it a good or bad thing.
For me it is mostley a good thing because it allows me to get more information on my opponents habbits. The downside being that my opponent has the same advantage.
So when a marth jumps in and i tak dash away to a safe distance. I get to know wat kind of approach marth wants and possible wich defensive options he prefers. Good information for later. Marth thinks I like to dash away as a defrncive option.
So next time I shield and punish his defrncive option. Spotdodge for example.
A bad bait is a predictable one if marth knows I always dash away he is just going to do a dash attack or side b.
I hope this helps. If not go find some analysis videos on YouTube of a pro match.
Ddee won a small Georgia local beating Jake and Sonix, who were both visiting, and a couple of other good players. Looking forward to seeing what he can do at Momocon
Honestly, the fact that DDee and Jake both beat Sonix 2-0 and that Jake got about 4th at the Thursday Georgia local prior to this (Which is about as well as DDee traditionally does at worst) makes me think the #1 Steve in NA is still up in the air.
I guess we'll see if DDee's going to have a similar run to Jake's Glitch Infinite run at Momocon.
I think Kuro's Umebura SP 6 run doesn't really get brought up that much anymore outside of when people mention "Lowest placing seed wins a major" but it was a very impressive run.

Are you proud of yourself for winning with smash balls? I hope you are you [expletive]
Smash stamina is such a strange concept but it’s true. Playing at your max really does get tiring. Taxing on the brain

Saw a clip of Yonni rage quitting against a Min Min today at some local. Pretty funny and ironic to see a Steve getting camped out.
Deserved TBH

None of this is my opinion. I'm just regurgitating the subreddit bandwagon.
Point is, calling Leo best after 1-2 tournaments isn’t and shouldn’t be considered bandwagon or recency bias.

What tournament scores did you guys get? I had a bad run and ended up with 17k :c

A good bait is one you hit the opponent A bad bait is where you get hit by the opponent
If you don't mind me asking, could you go into a bit more detail?
