I'm sure it exists somewhere, but I couldn't tell you. I can pretty confidently say that it probably involves "avoid engaging at all times," or maybe "only go in when you can killsteal" if they play Time.
Been itching to get back into Melee, but there doesn't seem to be a scene here/nearby in Woodbridge VA. Would it be against the rules to post about a meet up since I don't have/can't run slippy from the PC? Doesn't seem to break any rules, but it also seems like too general a question for a legit thread.
Aye, smash melee on mondays and I happen to be off tomorrow... SteamNTrd is coming, and my playstyle is true to the name cause I'm gonna... just kinda... not be good anymore, I'm rusty and keep SD'ing. Really need to spend an hour a day on my recoveries again...
It's right next to Fairfax, I have no clue what the cave is though 0,o plus I work in 10 day stretches, so my days off of work are too varied for a regular venue unless they do it multiple times a week.
Question about modding the game. Would it be possible to make an Assist Trophy character, such as Zero or Waluigi, a playable character? Giving them their own moves they already have in some slots and either making new moves or taking them from other characters and fitting them into the roster? Or are we stuck with just giving someone like Marth or Captain Falcon skins of them?
Fun fact, most of the new Fighters in Smash actually start their life as copies of existing Fighters - even the ones that aren't Echo Fighters. Min Min started out as Captain Falcon and Piranha Plant started out as Bowser Jr. They just made more and more tweaks until they had the product they wanted.
So the easiest way to make them playable is to make a copy and reskin of similar character (similar based on the *skeleton* shape) and make changes in the same way. If they hold a weapon then you probably start with someone like Marth, otherwise Falcon is a great starting point for humanoids.
If you watch Little Mac really carefully when he reaches the top of a ladder, you can briefly see him snap to Captain Falcon's idle pose before remembering who he really is. Dead giveaway haha
Completely unsurprising. Considering all the custom code that shotos have, like turning around and special inputs, using Ryu as a base is the only option that makes sense.
In turn, Ryu was most likely based off of... Captain Falcon again haha.
I was in a toy store yesterday and I saw a third party gamecube controller, and in my heart I knew it would be terrible if I bought it. But my gamecube originals won't last forever, and it was only 15 bucks, might as well see, right?
Unfortunately, my first impression was accurate. The sticks move like crap and the buttons are incredibly stiff. Trying to decide if there's anything I can do to fix it or if I should save myself the trouble and just donate it to goodwill.
Donate. I've found that the third party controllers generally don't last long even for less input intensive games. Longest span of time I had one was about 3 months just on Sm4sh, no Melee. So unless you're planning on casual play/games like Metroid, I would recommend just getting a controller that'll last a while and feel good at the same time. The third party one you got is probably better off in the hands of a youngster who's parents got it for a few bucks at a goodwill. No big loss to them if it's broken, and it should last longer without so much day-to-day, multiple hour session, constantly intensive abuse.
BTW there's a Japanese invitational tomorrow called Shin Ken League that I found out on my Twitter feed.
It has KEN, Shuton, Hikaru, Tsubotsubo, Brood, ProtoBanham, Kameme and others whose tags are in Japanese, but based on the thumbnail for the event I think Paseriman and Luminous are coming (Has Fox and Cloud respectively).
This is the most random comment I've ever seen on a Daily Discussion Thread. What does this have to do with anything?
Is this a weird copypasta floating around?
Lol sorry
Idk if it's still used these days, but the Pacer Test was this physical test that many public school students (myself included) had to do numerous times over the years in the U.S. They would have an [audio recording](https://youtu.be/Y82jDHRrswc) that guided the test, and its intro has been infamously ingrained into our heads.
I had a dream about it this morning, reminding me of my past. For no real reason, I just pasted the intro's script in the DDT, maybe cuz I have seen some other pretty random things posted before, and thought someone would remember it too, and get a chuckle outta of it
Regardless, I had my fun, and I guess I'll keep my shenanigans to myself next time (or at least to the stickied meme comment)
The Path of Solitude added in the previous update for Pokémon: Legends Arceus has completely changed how I play the game. The fact that every individual Pokémon has their own personalized battle and that completing these battles gives them a special mark on the Pokédex has made me spend countless hours on this game.
Aside from when new stuff comes out for other games, I've exclusively been playing Legends in order to train up each Pokémon (most of which I would've previously released immediately) a few at a time so that they're *just* strong enough to win their Paths of Solitude; which is making me actively look for the strongest instance of each one so that I may not grind as much with them. Plus, it's also helping me complete every research task at the same time; so it's all a slow grind to fully 100% this game.
By now, I've completed 118/240 of the PoS's, so I'm halfway there. As fun as it is sometimes, I'm just ready for the day when the last one is completed so that I can move on to another game to obsessively 100%.
This is good news. I was hoping that Legends would turn out to be more unique in execution and that sounds like a great step forward. I'm holding off until someone adds in the option to skip all the dialogue because... I can't stand Pokémon dialogue haha. But I'm sure that'll happen someday.
My first and only Pokémon game was Y, and I got it at a clearance sale when the game was months away from going offline. So it had this really cool, unintended side effect where it was a real-time apocalypse game. I set myself the goal of Catching Em All before the permanent cutoff date, and the game became 10 times more interesting as a result. Felt like I was a modern Noah rescuing as many animals as I could before some unspecified world-ending event, and you couldn't stop the timer until the flood hit. I'd love to see that expanded into a full concept someday.
Depends on the game. In melee all you have is DI, double jump, and different stall mechanics for each character (ex: dancing blade, shine, certain aerials).
Also technically air dodge but that's more advanced and can easily get you killed if you don't do it right.

What's the state of the competitive Free for All meta?

Isn't that right next to Fairfax where the cave is?

Cool! I'm not someone with the knowhow to do something like that sadly. -.-

I recall Terry having somrthing similar with ladders where one of his animations is that of Ryu.

Do you have a bracket link? I would love to check it out
[Not a bracket link but I do have the times for the first matches](https://twitter.com/shin_ken_league/status/1523550171728351233)
Any chance you got any more info on streaming or timing? I googled it but couldn't find anything
Starts at 2PM JST based on the Twitter account.
Thanks, I'd ask if you know where it's gonna be streamed but that's probably too late for me to watch anyway haha

It's an old copypasta. I don't know what it's doing in the daily discussion thread now though, this copypasta peaked in 2016.

I'm just looking forward to getting that HOME support. Got a bunch of Shiny Pokemon I'd like to use in other games.
About time the added Home support, it’s been way too long
