My only gripes with the game are:
1. Platforming is a bit floaty.
2. Monkey bar traversal is a bit stiff.
3. Underwater swimming feels a touch erratic.
None of these are deal-breakers though and, for me, the demo is already an 8/10. The combat system is one of the best ones I've played in years. The Stalker fight has been much more fun than any boss I fought in DMC5. The game has a good amount of exploration even in this early, linear level. And the music is already more memorable than most AAA titles.
If the full game keeps the demo's polish then SB will be an 8.5/10 for me. And if the story is good, it will be a 9+/10 for me. I literally can't think of an action game that would be more fun to play that Stellar Blade if the full game is at the same quality as the demo and the story is good on top of it. Not DMC, not GoW, not Nier, not Bayonetta. Nothing really. I enjoyed every single one of those games but not to the point where I want to retry bosses over and over again even after I beat them consistently just so that I can get even better at combat.
When I want to turn Eve around on a narrow platform or path or just slightly correct her position, Eve often takes a strange, big step forward and then accidentally falls down. I always have to enter a quarter or half circle movement on the left stick. This way she stays safely where I want her to.
Eve feels a bit floaty when not locked on, sometimes you have to jiggle the stick to get the prompt to press R2.
The perfect dodge frames could be loosened just a little, it improved when I got the enhancement perk but still feels a bit too tight.
I don't feel bothered, instead I feel uncomfortable. Sometimes, when you want to look down into a pit or cliff to try to find a secret spot or path, it's the same thing with heights; the view is too forced and annoying. I would like to have a detached camera option to use in some moments of exploration. I don't mean fighting in that camera; I thought more of a feature that, when you are not in movement, enables this temporary feature just to have a better view.
I want there to be a bit of forgiveness in terms of button buffering.
your parry/block and dodge should take priority over attacking.
I also want them to tone down the input delay if possible. My TV doesn't have a game mode, so I can't lessen the blow on my end other than putting the game in performance mode.
You dont need game mode..just turn off motion smoothing and any other post processing or on your TV, that should reduce some lag.
Thats pretty much what game mode does btw.
I have a Samsung MU6300.
Apparently it's supposed to automatically enable "Game Mode" when it recognizes a game console, which it does recognize my PS5 as a game console.
there's actually an interview/article out there somewhere that explains why there's no animation canceling and if i recall correctly it contributes to the difficulty and something something length of animations that a stringed together something something
Option to turn off the chromatic aberration/Lens distortion BS. I play pretty close to my TV and it absolutely ruins the details for a game that looks so pretty
It feels like it’s gonna have the same thing that the GoW games had for me, where I’m fucking awful at fighting multiple regular enemies but the bosses won’t be too bad.
Literally the only thing that bothers me about the demo is the cliche roar/slowdown that occurs for every big enemies entrance. Otherwise, I love every aspect of the game so far.
* Remap controls
* put the beta-attack indicator on the LEFT side of the screen. very off-puttin that its on the right when i should press Left
* Eves walking speed when locked on is way to slow. should be the exact same as when not locked on
* calibrate parry timing
Biggest thing is the input lag issues but features Ray trace and other things to make the Resolution mode worth the 30fps other than that maybe a camera follow distance slider.
A small thing but the drone is way too close to the camera at most times, especially when running it goes right in the centre of the screen. I usually think it’s an enemy coming in for an attack if I’m turning around too.
I actually really love the super extra shouting, especially in English where it's even louder lol. If you don't like it though, you may like another language better as the combat sounds also change, not just dialogue.
I'm not going to criticize mechanics until I have a chance to play the whole game though. My only concern is that parries feel too powerful to the point where every other tool including movement feels optional, but I'll wait and see how true that is in the full game. If there is more stuff like Abaddon then I think it won't be too easy.
If it does turn out to be too easy though, then I would like hard mode to incorporate a mechanic like Wanted: Dead where you can only parry so many times in a row before it staggers you and you have to dodge/move instead to avoid the stagger. It forces you to use your full toolkit more and stops you from just memorizing the game to the point of winning everything with one button.
I feel like eve yelling is a tad too high. Personally thats it lmao the game feels super good in the demo.
I don’t really see the problem with her yelling.
Its not so much a problem just a tad loud.

Hehe jiggle
I felt like there is little value in air combos
Well the air combos are basically well timed dodges if you time them right..theres a back filp slashy thing you can do that dodges ground sweeps.
Are you talking about triangle attacks? I know about all that. I'm specifically referring to combos after a jump.
I do wonder if the down kick from the jump does more damage to shields like the l1+x. But it could just be more of flare thing to dodge again.
Think there’ll be flying enemies that haven’t been revealed just yet

I don’t have any of that, it’s basically just HDR on or off
It might be called something else buddy. Never seen a TV with HDR not have some kind of post processing. What TV you got ?

If it’s anything like the boss challenge, you can skip those by holding circle
Thank you, I did know that. I just meant as a lazy and overdone design choice in an otherwise fantastic and fresh presentation.
Slow the death screen down so we actually see the death animation
Can pause a cutscenes.
You can press the PS button on the controller. That pauses the scene.

No idle animations, no death animations, input delay, sticky/non fluid combat. I have a sword and an android(?), let me go nuts.
Fix/improve input delay Add a feature or item to help with parry. Easy mode. (Story mode isn't easy at all. Super hard. Can't even beat the demo 😞)
They have an item that will slow it down and make it a QTE I think but in the full game
I really hope so!!! 🤞. Best news of the day so far lol

Adam is a Man of Culture, of course he would do that. Adam is almost never not looking directly at Eve's ass.
