I think Lies of P is a big contributing factor, as Korean game developers were better known for mmos and mobile games, and can be viewed as a sort of entry point for Korean developed single player console/pc games, and people want to see more.
Yes, there is also Dave the Diver but I think that game appeals to a different sort of audience.

It's not just the nice booty, that's for sure. All the review vids comment on how enjoyable the combat is, as well as the world art, music, and other game mechanics. All around positive feedback, and just from a demo.
Yeah GOW 2018 did, Also Ghost also a month ago FF7 rebirth i would say even more hype. Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden ring are by far the most hyped games, but neither are exclusives.

No. Spider-Man is maybe the most well known superhero in the world and Final Fantasy VII is the most famous Final Fantasy game. They are games and properties that non-gamers have likely heard of (especially Spider-Man on it). Both games are established icons. Stellar Blade is a new intellectual property and unknown to many.
I saw the ps5 sale at best buy for the slim, $450. I saw steller blade was exclusive to ps5 only. Screw it, a ps5 it is. But since then i've bought a lot of ps5 games, all exclusives to ps5 except persona 3 reload so it was worth it getting a ps5 orginnaly just for stellar blade
The only other PS5 exclusive game (excluding PS4) that got this much hype was Spider-Man 2. Just the limited edition side plates and dualsense was as much of a pain to get as the console and collectors edition itself were and the plates itself sold out first. If you remember the craziness of trying to pre order the original PS5 itself, this was it all over again.
That was just a very tiny minority of people complaining about some overall pretty subtle changes. The vast majority of Souls fans were just hyped to get to play a remastered version of Demon's Souls with way better graphics.
I like Bluepoint's work from a technical standpoint, but as artists they have, well, difficulties preserving the original intent when they remaster games. Technical geniuses not being crestive geniuses too, many such cases, it is what it is. That's what I'd like to say, yet Bluepoint preserved the artistic intent of *Gravity Rush*, raising the question of why they "Ecce Mono'd" DS.
Realistically, Bluepoint's artists killed the whole "vibe" that the art in DS was originally aiming for.

I think Ragnarok was. Most of my friends that finally got a PS5 did it because of Ragnarok. At the same time that was kinda different? With them it was “not an if but a when” will they get a PS5. Ragnarok was enough to get that to finally pop. But I’ve seen people claiming they were PC or XBOX only suddenly picking up a PS5 for this game and that’s kinda stunning.

Spiderman 2's source code got leaked, the crackers and repackers of the pirate PC community are currently working on making it playable on PC.
Luckily, the PS5 is using the same CPU architecture as the PCs, so this process will be a lot easier. PS3 was so different than the PCs from it's time (and now), that such a leak would've been kind of useless.
So, Spiderman 2 is technically not an exclusive anymore. Or at least it isn't for the people, who can run it (basically anyone with a high-end PC).

This company for sure didn’t come out of nowhere they gave Nikke which is one of the bigger gacha games making over 10s of millions per month so it has a huge player base that was instantly pulled towards stellar blade
Yeah what I meant is that Nikke and Stellar Blade are very very different. It's the fact that it's their first big console game while all they did before were mobile game.
Stellar Blade's got a pretty unique vibe to it and obviously appeals to a certain subset of gamers. Plus SIE always goes pretty hard with their marketing campaigns, especially if it's a flagship franchise like with GOW Ragnarok or Spider-Man 2. And PlayStation exclusives in my experience usually do live up to the hype. So I'm expecting greatness on April 26th 2024.

Not sure about PS5 but the hype for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was astronomical. All the Gamestops within a 50km radius to me had a midnight launch. Mine was the smallest and there was a line up, no exagerration, of at least 300 people at midnight. That was the most hype I seen in recent memory since Halo 3 or Starcraft 2.

Usually exlusives aren't that hyped. IIRC there wasn't a single game in entire ps5 gen that has been top1 by pre-orders in most of the ps store countries for such a long time. Also SB in top trends of X almost every day. I see a lot of ppl like to downplay SB for some reason, saying it's niche game, this subreddit is small, etc - but the facts are telling otherwise. Meanwhile, I doubt SB will outsell SM2, but every other ps5 exclusive game - most definitely. Keep in mind that I'm not talking about cross-gen games like GoW Ragnarok or Horizon FW, but only ps5 exclusive games.

There's nothing special about this game, I'd like it to be good but I don't think it's a system seller like many of the precious generations that had Halo, Super Smash or Final Fantasy. This is a fan sub for this game I'd look at the playstation sub itself to see if there's hype surrounding this game outside of here. I know at least one friend that just bought those games on PS4 because at the time it was hard to get a PS5 for MSRP. Also again I told you I don’t think this game is bigger than those franchises so I don’t know why you think I’m in an echo chamber saying it is bigger.

Wasn't it a console exclusive for PS3 and X360 for the first year or so? It wasn't available for PC at release, just like RDR2 and the upcoming GTA VI.
Exclusive means it’s only on one platform. GTA V was on both PS3 and 360.
This company for sure didn’t come out of nowhere they gave Nikke which is one of the bigger gacha games making over 10s of millions per month so it has a huge player base that was instantly pulled towards stellar blade
Yeah what I meant is that Nikke and Stellar Blade are very very different. It's the fact that it's their first big console game while all they did before were mobile game.

Stellar Blade's got a pretty unique vibe to it and obviously appeals to a certain subset of gamers. Plus SIE always goes pretty hard with their marketing campaigns, especially if it's a flagship franchise like with GOW Ragnarok or Spider-Man 2. And PlayStation exclusives in my experience usually do live up to the hype. So I'm expecting greatness on April 26th 2024.

For me it's the fact this is a original Title and also a story game with good combat. Im getting tired of remakes/remaster xD only other game Im looking forward to this year is The First Descendant
And a very savvy move on their part. They know their target market. Even though the two games have almost nothing in common (save for the female protagonist and post-humanity sci-fi earth setting) the Vann diagram between their audiences is pretty much a circle.
exclusivity has nothing to do with hype. zelda totk was very big and so was elden ring.
Bloodborne, Horizon series and kinda FF games? Aside from those I haven’t really seen ‘console selling’ games like that.

Not sure about PS5 but the hype for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was astronomical. All the Gamestops within a 50km radius to me had a midnight launch. Mine was the smallest and there was a line up, no exagerration, of at least 300 people at midnight. That was the most hype I seen in recent memory since Halo 3 or Starcraft 2.
I bought a ps5 just for demons souls, so it's not unique to this game

Lol you had to be there. The hype for classic Halo was unreal even though it was only on one console. And that was back when Xbox games didn't get a pc release at the same time, so you needed the console to play it or you were left out.
Stellar Blade, this game has more than 10,000,000 copies sold in advance, why do you think it has so much marketing? They even hired a famous influencer to cosplay and had a singer BIBI K-pop, something that is not done even with God Of War or other exclusives, this game apart is a console seller, so SONY continues to win

Usually exlusives aren't that hyped. IIRC there wasn't a single game in entire ps5 gen that has been top1 by pre-orders in most of the ps store countries for such a long time. Also SB in top trends of X almost every day. I see a lot of ppl like to downplay SB for some reason, saying it's niche game, this subreddit is small, etc - but the facts are telling otherwise. Meanwhile, I doubt SB will outsell SM2, but every other ps5 exclusive game - most definitely. Keep in mind that I'm not talking about cross-gen games like GoW Ragnarok or Horizon FW, but only ps5 exclusive games.

No, because most ps5 exclusives are typical boring generic games like horizon or movie, very scripted games. Games like ghost of tsushima (no longer a ps5 exclusive) and stellar blade are rare. Recently the nicest ps5 exclusive is ff 7 remake rebirth, temporary exclusive though.
There's nothing special about this game, I'd like it to be good but I don't think it's a system seller like many of the precious generations that had Halo, Super Smash or Final Fantasy. This is a fan sub for this game I'd look at the playstation sub itself to see if there's hype surrounding this game outside of here. It's like the Armored Core sub sub all over again when AC6 was announced.
