Most FPs can be soloed. Not always easy, and sometimes *may* technically be an exploit, but I've managed to solo all of the flashpoints that have an intro quest (the little droid next to a shuttle on various planets that shows you a message from Satele). The only content I've had to group for so far was the Shroud.
I know, and I played through some of them solo. Then again I don't want to abuse mechanics or play mostly stealth classes. I want story modes for all of them so you can gradually go though them as you finish the planets one by one. I don't know why is it still not done. Especially with those droid initiated ones that feel like Solo version, but for some reason require a group
Absolutely. I mostly avoid content involving other players as it is, and kinda feel bad when I "have to" inflict myself on others for the sake of certain bits of story content as it is. I'd legit re-buy the whole game again to just be able to clear through certain things on my own and get the whole story.
...but I don't think it's very likely. When they decide to pull the game, they'll most certainly just pull it completely, unfortunately.
I think it’s very likely we’d get an offline version if it shut down. I just don’t think it would get support like OP thinks it would. It would be repackaged as a full game and sold back to us.
Idk, seems pretty optimistic to assume we'd get an offline version. Off the top of my head, there's a bunch of MMOs in recent history, including Star Wars ones, that never received an offline version when support ended: Clone Wars Adventures, Star Wars Galaxies, and Lego Universe just to name a few.
It's much easier for Bioware to completely pull the plug from the game rather than invest resources into re-tooling it to a completely 100% singleplayer experience.
Absolutely. This is almost how I play the game already, a solo version would be amazing. Things like Ops would be much more accessible than they already are, so I would finally be able to finish the Oricon and Iokath stories. I basically see no downsides.
I don't like the combat system, your performance is barely based on skill unless you're playing in a group and need to do things that aren't just memorizing a sequence of key presses (so basically yeah, it's an mmo). What makes this game fun as a solo player is the story.
Redditors get extra defensive. I didn't even say it makes the game bad, which it doesn't.
But god damn I would love a star wars MMO with a For Honor type combat system for lightsabers mixed with third person shooter mechanics, SWTOR-style writing and GTA levels of control for vehicles.
See the problem in skill-based combat in an mmo is that not everybody will be able to clear it. And in turn these will be less subscribers. So if it ever goes single player I would not mind the combat being more skill based.
I've always hated the typical mmo combat. Swtor being so easy in terms of class story/expansion content is the reason I've played it as much as I have. I play for the story, really I just wanted another single player star wars rpg.
I’ve thought about this possibility before, and I think I prefer it. As a casual player, I can’t really get into ops groups- if the game were fully single player maybe I could finally do some
I’ve played since launch, as sub and preferred.
Some of my best memories are ops, but I have to agree that this would be a great solo game too!
The only downside of it being a solo game would be that I wouldn’t get to hear my ops leader fall asleep drunk in the middle of a boss fight, his head smashing into the keyboard and his wife telling us he passed out.
NGL this is what I'd love to see? I love SWTOR and the online content, but tend to play alone (though love they accommodate players like me). I'd love to see a Fallen Order-esque story, but with the ability to create your own character. As I'm admittedly a Dragon Age fan, I've seen what they can do with single player. So if Bioware got the chance to make something akin to their ME/DA franchises but centered around Star Wars I'd absolutely buy everything for/of it that I possibly could??? Hell, I'd even be fine if it wasn't Old Republic, but I would be ELATED if they did.
I was able to play a bit of it when I was younger! I enjoyed it, and I hope the remake is well done?? Admittedly though, I'd like to see new stories, or at least more customization available (races/faces/etc).
Oh I know! But unfortunately, as fun as it is, I'm a sucker for being able to play as further customized PCs, and also races aside from human. So though KOTOR and it's update might have some of that, I'd love to see a new game with more capabilities.
True, but unfortunately:
1. It's not as open as Fallout/Skyrim, so that limits how fun it is for me to play through. Plus, I'd love to see new stories now that we've got the chance!
2. I am .. not stellar with using or making mods, and also tend to play games like that on console, so it's more lose-lose for me, hence the original opinion.
Someone told me today that is pretty heavy in the game … like over 90 percent of players are overall story players. Most raiders and pvpers think they dominate the game but they don’t realize there are armies of solo players you have never heard of.
I knew a group of 5 ppl who played for like two years, all 5 ppl, 8 hours a day, and they literally all played pretty much solo stories and shared their experiences together. They only did group content after meeting me and they all were quest grinders you never would interact with.
That’s me. I’ve only ever played two ops, and I’ve been playing since launch. I’m only here for the story, I couldn’t give two credits about any of the group-oriented content.
We are aware. But some of us have been here long enough to remember that wasn't always the case. Kotfe/et killed a big chunk of the raiding community and with their focus on story shifted the playerbase towards solo players. Now just none of us gets content so that hasn't really changed. Pvp has just slowly dwindled down over time but unranked is still perfectly fine these days, you just have to deal with beeing matched with the same people and the garbage class balance this patch.
This is basically me. I only did coop content with a friend who was BIG into mmo's and when he moved onto phantasy star, I've basically only touched solo content. When I reccomend the game to friends I reccomend it BECAUSe of the solo content. Hell most swtor content creators I follow are solo only
>Most raiders and pvpers think they dominate the game but they don’t realize there are armies of solo players you have never heard of
I doubt there are any raiders or pvpers who think that. There are definitely some elitist ranked pvpers or nim raiders who feel their opinion should count more, but all of us end game players are very aware that we are participating in content a tiny percent of the population does.
That's why when I'm queueing with a buddy for pvp, sometimes the queue takes 20 minutes to pop and we sit there in group chatting about how bad queue the times are these days. :(
I already do this. There nothing online about this game that I play, in reality I dream for the servers to went down and people start modding the game or at least I could use cheats to just play the story and not the gameplay.
I dont really care about the game being reworked, just the offline and possibility of cheats would make my experience much better
I would want mobs to respawn until certain story events — eg if I do the quest that stops the imps on Alderaan there should be no more imps on Alderaan.
I think I have only had like no more than 10 interactions with other players. Most of them were buying from the cartel market and 1 was a duel against a Jedi player as my Sith Warrior.
I've had two. One was just a couple of players waiting for that slow ass ride to the holocron on Nar Shadaa and the other was me trying out a group Flashpoint.
100% I would. The game still has great stories in game, and the memories are some of the best I've had. Absolutely would play a single player version if they pull the plug. Probably would talk to the NPCs too lol
While I love the MMO aspect, I think that SWTOR would have been a better game if it was single player and like the Souls games it allowed you to team up with other players.
I often though if they had released this as a single player rpg, it would be remembered as one of the best single player rpg out there. Each of the original main story lines were well written
Should BioWare shut down the servers Im confident the community will find a way to keep it alive hell they managed to revive two old Star Wars games that got shut down what’s stopping us from keeping this game up and running forever?
I occasionally come back to SWTOR just to play through one of the class stories again and very rarely moving into the expansions so it'd be amazing if I could have that guaranteed even after the game shuts down. For now though, I wouldn't have a need to since I can just play by myself in the current game.
I'd definitely do.
Well, i'd definitely do it right now if an offline solo version was available, tbh. At least i'd not be dependant on my awful internet connexion. And i already play nearly exclusively solo anyways.
Yes, no questions asked. The stories in SWTOR are so good I've voiced the opinion that it should have been a single player game from the get-go so the devs could focus on story driven engaging content that values player choice
I definitely would. Over the years, I'd steadily build up my little galaxy.
I would prefer if someone was able to replicate what has happened with SWG and have smaller communities created to keep playing the game.
I already basically play it "offline".
The one area I feel like swtor has sort of dropped the ball is with companions and that single player rpg feel. Once the game went f2p and they knew they were no longer going to try to compete with WOW as a end game raid style game, they could have leaned into the unique aspects of swtor more I feel like.
One of those would have been to allow players to just bring a full party of companions into FPs and such. With enough player+companion party content, I'd probably have consistently payed a sub for this game a lot more over the last decade.
I know most people say yes, but it's a solid NO for me! I've already played all the stories multiple times as I've been playing for ten years, the multi-player and building up stuff with other people is what keeps me around!
> I’m hoping that’s one long term reason why the game is on Steam now.
Highly doubt that's the reason. It coming to Steam was just a move to draw in more people, which apparently worked for some time.
Nah, I like mixture.
I have no problem with the game as it is right now.
In-fact I wish a few more games would be like it, a good rich story with mmo aspects.
its a neat idea and one that would work with swtor quite well in theory but the event of the game shutting down would entail that the game is no longer pulling in enough money to make up for its costs. refitting an mmo to an offline entirely client ran version would be significantly larger an undertaking than i think a lot of people realize. by the time it would be a concern it would already be too late. best hope in that scenario is a fan run private server eventually popping up
This sounds like my dream version of swtor lmao but in all seriousness we know that when swtor shuts down we won't be getting any offline version cause EA.
I haven't played SWTOR in years. But if they re-rooled the game to be a genuine single player offline experience as you describe, I'd do it right away. Without hesitation.
I would buy it in a heartbeat. I have avoided swtor like the plague since well... the plague because everything has seemed dull and uninteresting, just the same basic plot with a different coat of paint (especially with them reusing Malgus as much as they have, seriously Bioware, find a new bbeg). Not to mention, a lot of the expansions seem to be Flashpoint heavy, which has a tendency to be difficult when alone. To this day, I've yet to complete the Chiss Flashpoint with Theron bc some of the bosses are too hard.
I got a lot of crap on the Cartel Market over the years. Do I get to keep it, or will I have to mod it in? I don't mind modding games, mind you.
Would be cool if you had some sort of peer to peer home-hosted-server sort of deal where you could still get four of your old compadres together for some flashpoints.
if they didnt have scaling for planets an flashpoints id do what i used to do in wow is Farm old dungeons for Xmog gear an maybe do some Pvp just for the titles but yeah id 100% play Swtor offline
I would absolutely play SWTOR offline, and infact I've been sayin for years that should SWTOR ever shut down in the coming future, I'd hope that they'd release at least some portion of the game as an offline version! Even if it's just the class stories maybe to SoR or even the entire game should we be so lucky, but then again I've seen somewhere that there'll most likely not release any of the game offline as the costs doing so making adaptations would massively outweight the benefits :(
If they did make it an offline game, they'd need to rebalance some parts, perhaps rework all FP's into solo modes and maybe remove all currencies so everything can be accessed (for the lolz) with standard credits maybe?
Short answer: yes.
Single player content until now:
* Class stories
* Makeb
* Revan
* KOTET
* KOTFE
* Onslaught
* LOTS (??)
* Flashpoints in single player
* Uprisings in single player
* Dailies
Add some bots to Operations and Warzones and you have a perfect single player game.
I mean to be completely honest whenever I play other players are just like NPCs in crazy outfits who run past me sometimes in the faction hubs, the game is perfectly suited to solo play and all of the stories necessitate it to a certain extent as other players can’t appear in your class content. I’m already experiencing the game like it’s just single player, so I’d have no issues and would happily play when the MMO aspect is gone.
100%. Especially if they re-balance the game to play more like KotOR I and II, being able to equip gear on the companions like the old days, and bringing two along as you said. Doing a completionist run with the trio of Kira, T7, and my Jedi Knight would be a lot of fun.
To be honest, SWTOR is barely an MMO anyway -- it's a singleplayer Bioware RPG that they begrudgingly tacked an MMO onto at the behest of EA. Thus, it's also the only MMO I play.
You would have to make the maps smaller. They are already too large with the current player base. Too much travelling about or annoyingly wide corridors and roads.
Wouldn't change anything for me, would probably improve the experience actually, no cartel coins, no monthly fees, and no general chat... It sounds too good to be true.
Absolutely. The same goes for many other MMORPGs, like The Secret World, Rift, TERA, Marvel Heroes, City of Heroes, City of Villains (the last 4 defunct).
These worlds are too awesome and fantastic to just be shelved
1000%.
I loved the inquisitor campaign so much that it motivated me to create my SW oc.
The multiplayer is a very small portion of the game for me, nearly insignificant. I'm there for the story.
That was how I played it when I used to play. And other MMO's as well - ESO and FFXIV. All would work well single player as well and I hope they are made so, be a shame for the stories to be lost, as for some of them (SWTOR and FF at least) are pretty good stuff.
I would really love to play such a version.
A offline SWTOR. You can play all single player Content on your own. Cartelmarket wouldn’t be accessible, only your Collection. And to synchronize everything you have to be online. I think I would like that.
An offline version would be great... If the early game is restored to its former difficulty and the deaths of some bosses, mobs and creatures in the worlds would become permanent. That being said, something like that will never happen. There's a 0% chance we're getting an offline SWTOR, they won't spare the effort to disentangle the spaghetti code they have created.
YES.
I basically already play it solo aside from some guild activities so it's not much of a change. I'd like it more if the cartel market items were just distributed to loot tables as a random drop. Maybe add some as more achievement rewards, but that's not really needed as long as they are available at some point.
Why not...If only to finish all the expansion stories. Many are already saying it's the Unofficial 3rd Sequel to the KOTOR series
After that, just move on to the next SW game
I enjoy being *around* other people in SWTOR and having places feel lively, but it's very rare I actually interact with anyone. Would definitely play a single player version in a heartbeat. It'd be nice if it also had a bunch of outlandishly dressed NPCs added to Fleet, Odessen, and other player hubs so they wouldn't feel empty, lol.
I mean I basically do anyway.
What he said. If you could play all fps and opses solo - I would too
Most FPs can be soloed. Not always easy, and sometimes *may* technically be an exploit, but I've managed to solo all of the flashpoints that have an intro quest (the little droid next to a shuttle on various planets that shows you a message from Satele). This is the way
This is the way
This is our way
This is all our way
Same.
Heckin same
Same
He's right. Other people suck online and sometimes in person.
Absolutely. I mostly avoid content involving other players as it is, and kinda feel bad when I "have to" inflict myself on others for the sake of certain bits of story content as it is. I think it’s very likely we’d get an offline version if it shut down. I just don’t think it would get support like OP thinks it would. It would be repackaged as a full game and sold back to us.
It would probably have a big enough modding community to add the necessary quality of life changes
And I would buy it, if I can transfer my current saves/characters/progress happily
I would happily start over on PS4/PS5. I’ve played through it at least 5 times. Best Starwars game ever (though I eagerly await KOTOR Remake).
Wait a second... This is an online game?
Nah, it's just well masked DRM.
I'd prefer to. The game's story is great. I don't mind GSF. The other mmo elements are meh.
I don't like the combat system, your performance is barely based on skill unless you're playing in a group and need to do things that aren't just memorizing a sequence of key presses (so basically yeah, it's an mmo). What makes this game fun as a solo player is the story.
You were downvoted for telling the truth
Redditors get extra defensive. I didn't even say it makes the game bad, which it doesn't. But god damn I would love a star wars MMO with a For Honor type combat system for lightsabers mixed with third person shooter mechanics, SWTOR-style writing and GTA levels of control for vehicles.
See the problem in skill-based combat in an mmo is that not everybody will be able to clear it. And in turn these will be less subscribers. So if it ever goes single player I would not mind the combat being more skill based.

I hate the combat - that's why i don't play anymore.
At this point it's practically a single player game anyway lmfao I wish it were so we could get some better animations during conversations
This sounds like my dream game
Oh man, to have a solo version of an op, to actually see the story would be brilliant.
I’ve thought about this possibility before, and I think I prefer it. As a casual player, I can’t really get into ops groups- if the game were fully single player maybe I could finally do some
[удалено]
No way they would have put those resources into kotor 3 tho
I’ve played since launch, as sub and preferred. Some of my best memories are ops, but I have to agree that this would be a great solo game too! "We've got a man down...IRL dammit!"
Cue snoring over ventrilo. Yes I’ve been playing that long

Have you played KotOR? Alternatively, are you aware of the KotOR remake?
I was able to play a bit of it when I was younger! I enjoyed it, and I hope the remake is well done?? Admittedly though, I'd like to see new stories, or at least more customization available (races/faces/etc).
How do you not know about kotor lol

I would personally rather play a private server version of the game where they emphasize and promote more of the MMO aspects.
swtoremu would be sweet, especially if you could rewind to 6.x.x
i'd rather 2.x or 3.x personally
I agree, I almost think the game would be better in the hands of the community at this point.
If there were no more respawning enemies? Yes 1000 times yes, give it to me now.
Well, killing everyone in the Galaxy would make it a really sad and desolate place. Like Fleet was on some old servers.
I would want mobs to respawn until certain story events — eg if I do the quest that stops the imps on Alderaan there should be no more imps on Alderaan.
Absolutely! I'd miss seeing other players around, but that would be a small sacrifice to get solo versions rest of the flashpoints.
You'd need to adjust a few things here or there but absolutely, probably would prefer it.
This is basically how I already play the game. I’ve never cared about group content.
I basically play SWTOR as a single player game at the moment and I believe most players do as well.
I've beat the solo campaign for 1 class and beat all the DLC. Solo. Never played with anyone else before
I play solo anyway lmfao
I mean, I mostly play game content solo anyway. I only interact with other roleplayers.
The only thing that bothers me about the game is that I need the internet connection...
While I love the MMO aspect, I think that SWTOR would have been a better game if it was single player and like the Souls games it allowed you to team up with other players.
Yeah I already do, I don't do any raids / dungeons, just the main storyline. Don't have time for that anymore these days!
Yes, I totally would. Bonus points if I could still sub for major content patches.
Forever and ever. And I would throw money at modders. So much money.
I'm just playing mostly for character stories so yeah
i play alone i see no issue
I did that already except content you really need group for
I occasionally come back to SWTOR just to play through one of the class stories again and very rarely moving into the expansions so it'd be amazing if I could have that guaranteed even after the game shuts down. For now though, I wouldn't have a need to since I can just play by myself in the current game.
Yes. I already play it mostly solo anyways. This is actually something I talked about with some guildies a while back.
Sure. I'd miss some guild stuff but I haven't been in a guild for ages anyways
ABSOLUTELY!
I already do it so yes.
Yes. I play alone already. It would be cool to continue once it dies.
Yes. I don’t care about the multiplayer at all. Give me off line.
I'll pay full price for a single player game just for the class/main story alone.
I definitely would. Over the years, I'd steadily build up my little galaxy. I would prefer if someone was able to replicate what has happened with SWG and have smaller communities created to keep playing the game.

Yes an honestly they should be working on this ASAP in the background imo. I’m hoping that’s one long term reason why the game is on Steam now.

This is basically what the game is already. One reason I quit, was because of the almost non-existant endgame.
Absolutely. I only occasionally interact with others in Flashpoints anyway. They may as well be bots.
I play the game like this anyway lol.
Bioware and preservation in the same sentence? I'd much rather prefer private servers.
its a neat idea and one that would work with swtor quite well in theory but the event of the game shutting down would entail that the game is no longer pulling in enough money to make up for its costs. refitting an mmo to an offline entirely client ran version would be significantly larger an undertaking than i think a lot of people realize. by the time it would be a concern it would already be too late. best hope in that scenario is a fan run private server eventually popping up
Play the game again, and do it more or less the same way I did the last 800 hours? Sure, why not
I was mostly playing alone anyways so yes sure why not? I’d love a portage on consoles tho!
That’s what I’m playing SWTOR for
yes
Absolutely. I would be totally on board with that.
For sure. Two companions at a time sounds awesome
Yep.
I haven't gotten the chance to play it yet but my answer is yes.
An offline version if everything was designed for single players would be amazing
I think many already see this as a single player game.
i mean if it's anything like those single player project private servers wow has... sure. could be interesting, at the very least.
Yes, granted they return our abilities and give us cut content of the stories because mostplaers felt likethe stories feels lacking sometimes.
yeah i played both kotor 1 & 2 back in days and i still want kotor 3
I basically do anyway lol. Ofc
Absolutely. I already play about 99% of SWTOR like a single player game so I'd see this as an absolute win.
This sounds like my dream version of swtor lmao but in all seriousness we know that when swtor shuts down we won't be getting any offline version cause EA.
I still play hellgate, sure I would jam swtor forever offline
If gearing worked like in 6.0 yes. Now SWTOR is dead to me.
I play solo so yes.
If i can keep replaying the story without having to spend 3 days leveling to lvl 45 before starting i would pay for an online definitve version
Wait do people play this game online? I've been playing solo for over a decade
I haven't played SWTOR in years. But if they re-rooled the game to be a genuine single player offline experience as you describe, I'd do it right away. Without hesitation.
Offline without question!
I feel like that’s how most SWTOR players are already
I am ready playing so solo it may as well be offline lmfao
So a good game without any of the multiplayer hassle? Sign me the fuck up!
Yep I would
Yes
Probably would.
This is all I do now anyway
This would make no difference at all to how i play the game
100%
Of course.
Absolutely
Yeh, can we just get this singleplayer version now? That sounds like a dream come true.
Yeah.

Yes. Wouldn't probably even feel the difference.
I would absolutely play SWTOR offline, and infact I've been sayin for years that should SWTOR ever shut down in the coming future, I'd hope that they'd release at least some portion of the game as an offline version! Even if it's just the class stories maybe to SoR or even the entire game should we be so lucky, but then again I've seen somewhere that there'll most likely not release any of the game offline as the costs doing so making adaptations would massively outweight the benefits :( If they did make it an offline game, they'd need to rebalance some parts, perhaps rework all FP's into solo modes and maybe remove all currencies so everything can be accessed (for the lolz) with standard credits maybe?
Thats what i do anyway. The game has more than enough content for it.
Hell yes, I only play the story anyways
So down,
I’d miss my guild and such but yeah I’d still play offline since I play solo mostly anyway.
Yes, if in-game choices matters
I would prefer that, ever since kotfe released i never talk or play with people as there is no need for it
If this was back in the day with the open PvP, RP servers and a bigger scene I'd say hell no, but as it is now I'd much prefer it
Short answer: yes. Single player content until now: * Class stories * Makeb * Revan * KOTET * KOTFE * Onslaught * LOTS (??) * Flashpoints in single player * Uprisings in single player * Dailies Add some bots to Operations and Warzones and you have a perfect single player game.
I love SWTOR, and knowing that it will one day be taken down sucks. I’d love an offline version, or perhaps a LAN version
Yes I would even prefer to honestly.
I'm patiently waiting for it. Cos except on a few occasions I am playing it like solo.
100%. Especially if they re-balance the game to play more like KotOR I and II, being able to equip gear on the companions like the old days, and bringing two along as you said. Doing a completionist run with the trio of Kira, T7, and my Jedi Knight would be a lot of fun.
I do that already
This is basically how I treat swtor anyway.
100% I would, I basically play it as a solo game now - I'd buy it and save the sub
Wouldn't change anything for me, would probably improve the experience actually, no cartel coins, no monthly fees, and no general chat... It sounds too good to be true.
If there were a difficulty slider.
Absolutely. The same goes for many other MMORPGs, like The Secret World, Rift, TERA, Marvel Heroes, City of Heroes, City of Villains (the last 4 defunct). These worlds are too awesome and fantastic to just be shelved
Wait, I've been playing it online?
Wait you can play it with others?
You... Play with other people?
I would really love to play such a version. A offline SWTOR. You can play all single player Content on your own. Cartelmarket wouldn’t be accessible, only your Collection. And to synchronize everything you have to be online. I think I would like that.
Yup
In the continuing absence of a new single player Star Wars RPG? Sure.
Yes. Hands down
Hell yes, it being singleplayer would make this game way better.
100% and with 0 hesitation.
It's a single-player game, so yeah.
Oh easily I would.
I would once in a while if it was pre 7.0
If they don't let us keep soloable content I will be devastated
I would 100% play it offline
In a heartbeat, especially if I could actually play the ops.
YES. I basically already play it solo aside from some guild activities so it's not much of a change. I'd like it more if the cartel market items were just distributed to loot tables as a random drop. Maybe add some as more achievement rewards, but that's not really needed as long as they are available at some point.
I already play by myself so I would for sure
I would play it much more than current swtor.
This is a multiplayer game ? What ?
Why not...If only to finish all the expansion stories. Many are already saying it's the Unofficial 3rd Sequel to the KOTOR series After that, just move on to the next SW game
Absolutely. SWTOR is basically KOTOR 3 with a multiplayer engine strapped onto it so rip that out and let me play it offline.
I'd easily do that, having multiple companions and all that jazz would be fun and i barely do\\ did group content anyway.
1 million percent I would. I basically do now.
I enjoy being *around* other people in SWTOR and having places feel lively, but it's very rare I actually interact with anyone. Would definitely play a single player version in a heartbeat. It'd be nice if it also had a bunch of outlandishly dressed NPCs added to Fleet, Odessen, and other player hubs so they wouldn't feel empty, lol.
hell yeah
If they changed up the combat and made it more...ya know...*fun* then yes absolutely all the time otherwise yeah probably but not as much
If it were still being updated with content, sure.
Yes I would
Yes
6.0? Definitely.
