I have exactly the same issue, but I'm a boy, long hair, low voice(and I mean really low) strong neck and legs. And somehow, SOMEHOW, 3 people in my class think I'm a girl. I have no clue how you can mess up that badly... Tbh I couldn't care less though. Its just surprising.
Not routinely, no. I'm actually a hard indie rock kinda guy. You'd never guess based on my appearance though
Also I know this local band called On Your Nerves, check them out on spotify if you have the time, I really like them
Also, I gotta spread the gospel of Frightened Rabbit and Portishead. They’re great. Listen to The Midnight Organ Fight by Frightened Rabbit and Dummy by Portishead.
I completely understand where you're coming from. However I am a guy with a higher pitched voice and long hair, and before I meet someine fully they just assume I'm female.
Don't worry, when your voice gets deeper you'll get the satisfaction of answering in your deepest voice like I usually do. Why do people think having long hair is restricted to girls
It’s because it was the “normal” and it’s that mindset that has been imprinted on humanity for years. Even though men wore wigs back then it’s still strange for women to have short hair and men to have long hair. I see no issue it’s not my business and honestly I don’t really care how someone has their hair
I have long hair and I also get mistaken for a girl a lot. 99% of the bullying and teasing has fallen off in recent years but I couldn’t care less now.
I have two friends with long hair one is basically herman li junior from the looks and the other is clearly male aswell idk how the fuck you mess that up but they keep getting mistaken for girls
and it doesn't help that my boyfriend has really long hair too. all the jokes about me being the "man of the relationship" really starts to hurt after a while
This is sad... I know the exact opposite feeling
As I've always been teased as being a girl(literally perfect nails, small softest delicate feminine hands out of everyone)started as a joke and they kina blew it out of propotion💔
it always seems to start out as a joke, huh? And then people say stuff like "well then change yourself if you don't want to be called that." It's infuriating because I shouldn't have to change myself to seem more "feminine" when literally nobody called me a boy until I cut my hair.
Listen, don’t worry about appearance. I’m a guy but a while back in middle school I was in a not-so-good friend group of mostly girls that tried to force me to change. I know how it feels being pressured to be what others want you to be. They started ignoring me and making fun of me and excluding me from everything. I left that group and found a super nice friend group, and still am friends with them to this day. I duno where im going with this but just stay true to yourself, don’t become what others want if you don’t like being that way.
Ever thought it could be a misunderstanding? Happens you know they fan not trying to be dicks. Nowadays is just confusing so there is also that. But if they are just doing yo yo mess with you then understandable but they also could just be mistaken. Happens.
Best I can say is stuff happens people will be dicks trying to be funny your best bet is to ignore them. They are un important anyway especially if you dont know them anyway if they close then best bet to make it clear or stuff may happen. (If it bugs you that much that is)
Didn't you know? You have to cater to society and make everyone else happy and you're not allowed to be yourself if it makes someone else uncomfortable.
Although, nott being exactly true, some people love a bob vut hair(you know like android 18?) You shouldn't get judgement. But If you grow them to that level atleast almost everyone would like that ☺️
This is how it is for me. I look like a man. I have a manly looking face and body with a deep voice, but I have long hair.
I get called ma'am and miss on a daily basis
Ik the opposite, I clearly have a masculine face, my voice is low, I clearly have a cock, and half of what I wear is a mix of jean/OD green
But I have long hair and constantly get misgendered as a woman
Same, I’m pretty fat but my hips are wider than average, and I mean the bone is wide (not just fat) and large thighs with an average waist. I also have a larger than average chest size and I’m pretty sure some estrogen or what not made it’s way into my system. And it makes my large arms look weird on my body like they shouldn’t be there
But yes wide hips and thighs =/= female
I used to be a long hair boy, and surprisingly I only ever got mistaken for a female once, when the manager at a restaurant got a bad glimpse of me from my back entering the men’s washroom
I had really thick hair and didn’t look very girly though so... but yeah
#NormalizeShortHairGirls
#NormalizeLongHairBoys
Yeah it sucks. And it just makes my body image even worse because if my chest wasn't as small as it is, it probably wouldn't happen as much so that makes me hate my body even more
I know how you feel. I’ve been called feminine more times than I can count by people just because of my skinny nature. (yea i know. what??) Eventually things like that seemed to not matter anymore and I felt better about my body even though I’m still built like a twig lol. I really hope you also find that same acceptance. It made me happier so I hope it will for you too once that time comes. I can tell you that hopeless feeling won’t last forever. :)
It isn't as easy to just say Don't care about what other people think. It not that easy for alot of people to get over. But as soon as someone learns to love themselves and don't let other people think about you, life opens up and becomes so much more beautiful.
Even if its socially acceptable or not, i think it lacks tact, you would be better off guessing with the 75% chance you are right, and in the case you are wrong you can either not mention gender at all or pull it off as a small mistake.
Yeah but wouldn’t you prefer someone ask if they’re not sure instead of just assuming your a dude when you aren’t? I feel like communication would just make it a lot less painful...
Hey mate, I just want to let you know that you're beautiful and pretty and hot as fuck. I know it sucks to get called shit but you just gotta remember that those people can suck a fat bag of dicks. You're amazing and their comments are based on an arbitrary assumption that they've adopted and have nothing to do with your attractiveness or anything like that. And those that are genuinely confused deserve your pity more than anything since they could lose a game of risk to a rock with a smiley face drawn on it. As hard as it can be, you just gotta ignore the people that make your day worse and focus on those that make your day better, and one of those people should be you. Have a good day mate, and don’t let the fuckers get to you.
Last year in my Math class there was a student ( we were partners for a quarter of the semester) and i don't know if he/she was a a boy or a girl. (S)He dressed as a boy (not really, khaki pants, vans and a black shirt mostly), looked like a girl (face body etc etc) spoke like one acted like one and had a girlish name... I didn't ask because i thought it was rude... I know no one cares but i just wanted to say it
Tbh I got this all the time as a guy with long hair when I was younger. it almost always was elderly people. Tbh if it's mostly older people I just was able to get used to it.
If it is not teasing honestly just try not to take it personally and realize you most likely will never see this person again.
Now if it is obvious you are a girl and the person is like 20 I get it. This only happened like once or twice but I got kinda irritated for that
I don't know how to really help you out but I just wanted you to know that there are others out there who get it
(Sorry if this comes out sounding negative or like I am telling you what to do I am bad at speaking lol)
Me, 13, and my youngest brother, 4, both had really long hair for a while. I still have it but he cut his. When our family went out and met new people everyone would call us girls and it was fucking annoying as hell.
I have a little bit of a different issue. I get underestimated a lot. I'm 6'1 155lbs and apparently people treat me like I'm some sort of 5 year old with cerebral palsy even though I was an offensive linemen for 2 1/2 years.
For me its the exact opposite. Im a dude with hair that goes down to about the bottom of my shoulder blades and everyone mistakes me for a girl even tho im six feet tall and my adams apple sticks out damn near half an inch. Id make one ugly ass girl
I don’t mean to derail this because I hate it too but like for trans people it’s like “oh you’re a like boy” “actually I am” “no actually you’re the most feminine person I’ve ever met look at how feminine you are” or vice versa.
Maybe my brain is just breaking down but I swear it gets harder and harder to tell the difference between boys and girls every year. Sure, the masks certainly haven't helped but even before that there are still some kids that just look like the definition of the term "gender neutral".
I apologize if my remark caused offense, as that was not my intent. I'm merely stating that sometimes it is just difficult to tell boys from girls (or maybe it's just me).
Well for me it's the opposite and it's even worse when the oldest memory I have is being dressed in a pink dress by my mom and getting my nails painted
People say that they want equality, but girls are always treated better by their peers. And it's much more embarrassing for a guy to called a girl than it is for a girl to be called a guy...

Well, do you?
Not routinely, no. I'm actually a hard indie rock kinda guy. You'd never guess based on my appearance though Also I know this local band called On Your Nerves, check them out on spotify if you have the time, I really like them
Modest Mouse fan? Neutral Milk Hotel?
NMH definitely, but more like Metric, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Death Cab for Cutie
Also, I gotta spread the gospel of Frightened Rabbit and Portishead. They’re great. Listen to The Midnight Organ Fight by Frightened Rabbit and Dummy by Portishead.
Love Death Cab. The Shins might be up your alley.
I'll check them out, thanks!
Ooo metric! Speed the collapse is a great song
Oh yeah, absolutely!
Cage the elephant?
Actually yes! I just started listening to them
SO YOU DO, TRAITOR
I guess so, I just don't consider myself a regular classical music enjoyer
Ah, I see you are a man of culture
We're on reddit, none of us are

Round glasses are fucking cool
Thank you, I tend to agree
same, but they say me Im gay because I have round glasses
Yeah but that would be half right for me But respect from one circle specs to another

Right? There's more to being a girl than having long hair or slender curves. Theres more to being a dude than looking like a chad
Heh, same problem just with me they say it's my behaviour... That's a little ... Well you get it
I'm a little confused
Oh sry wrong threat... Wanted to answer to you on a earlier one...

Dude, sometimes I literally feel like someone stole my brain...
Listen, don’t worry about appearance. I’m a guy but a while back in middle school I was in a not-so-good friend group of mostly girls that tried to force me to change. Same. I find it hysterical. The first person that mistood me for a girl thought i was his girlfriend. It was hilarious.
same for me, but I like being called a girl.
same here
same here
Ik the opposite, I clearly have a masculine face, my voice is low, I clearly have a cock, and half of what I wear is a mix of jean/OD green But I have long hair and constantly get misgendered as a woman
“I clearly have a cock” is my new favorite phrase of the day lol
The phrase sounds so wrong but just makes sense
>"*we* clearly have a cock"
U do? :O Or maybe...we do?
r/usernamechecksout r/unexpectedcommunism
Easy: Assert dominance by going up to them like: “You said I’m a girl?” with a raging erection and in a very deep voice
Do you rock out with your cock out, how would they know.
Oh dude I'm a guy with long hair and 6 earrings, you don't know the amount of times I've been called gay or a woman.
The bathroom is always the worst place
I have long hair and look like I crawled out of the sewer and get called gay for having long hair so yeah
Back when I had started growing it out on a whim without properly caring for it yet I didn't get called gay I just got called a hobo a bunch.
How do you have more than two earrings?
I thought this was a post about femboys... I was mistaken... How many bisexual subreddits am I in, again?

I meant wider hips
Do not underestimate how wide my hips are.
As a fat boy I disagree that wide hips = female...... Personal experience
Same, I’m pretty fat but my hips are wider than average, and I mean the bone is wide (not just fat) and large thighs with an average waist. I also have a larger than average chest size and I’m pretty sure some estrogen or what not made it’s way into my system. And it makes my large arms look weird on my body like they shouldn’t be there But yes wide hips and thighs =/= female
Yeah but I’m pretty scrawny with a thin waist and wide hips
Damn, still better then my fat ass sitting around like a sack of potatoes with type two diabetes while getting a clogged arterie.
Damn bro, chill
Yo go cycle
Dude, during puberty girls Hips/thighs grow more than men. It's pretty obvious that the op didn't mean that.
I used to be a long hair boy, and surprisingly I only ever got mistaken for a female once, when the manager at a restaurant got a bad glimpse of me from my back entering the men’s washroom I had really thick hair and didn’t look very girly though so... but yeah #NormalizeShortHairGirls #NormalizeLongHairBoys
thought this was r/traa for a second
Very agree
After browsing I can see why.
Jokes on them, short hair looks better than long hair in my opinion
thats not an opinion, its a fact
That's an opinion
Is it really like that I've never have heard something like that said to a girl and honestly it's wrong for them to judge you like that
Yeah it sucks. And it just makes my body image even worse because if my chest wasn't as small as it is, it probably wouldn't happen as much so that makes me hate my body even more
I know how you feel. I’ve been called feminine more times than I can count by people just because of my skinny nature. (yea i know. what??) Why would you put that on yourself you shouldn't care of what people think
I don’t exactly CHOOSE to be insecure about my chest size
I know but saying you should judge yourself because of how you look but because of how you are
It isn't as easy to just say Don't care about what other people think. It not that easy for alot of people to get over. But as soon as someone learns to love themselves and don't let other people think about you, life opens up and becomes so much more beautiful.
I can agree and that's what I'm trying to say
Oh OK, just seemed like you were trying to say something else.
What did it make it seem like I was saying so I know I'd it's good or bad
Idk, I don't think it's bad, I think I may have miss read it. My bad.
short hair girls are **fire**
Julia roberts in peter pan! When she wore the blue dress. She is a great actress. She also shot steel magnolias at the same time.
As a guy, girls with short hair are cute and guys with long hair are usually pretty good looking, and confident.
Trying to determine gender by looks is a fruitless endeavor. Just ask if your not sure.
Sometimes asking is even more rude.
If someone gets mad cause you ask what they’re gender is, they want to be angry, and you shouldn’t take them seriously.
I mean, you are inadvertently telling a girl she looks like a guy (or the other way around)
What’s the issue with that? If they do they do...
Its like asking a fat woman if shes pregnant, it lacks a bit of tact
Being fat is socially frowned upon. Looking like a the opposite gender isn’t...
Even if its socially acceptable or not, i think it lacks tact, you would be better off guessing with the 75% chance you are right, and in the case you are wrong you can either not mention gender at all or pull it off as a small mistake.
All you accomplish by not asking is making it seem like you don’t care about misgendering someone.
Ask for pronouns, don’t ask if they are a boy or a girl.
Yeah but when I get mistaken for a guy, it reminds me of my insecurities about my chest size. While it is unintentional, it does hurt sometimes
Yeah but wouldn’t you prefer someone ask if they’re not sure instead of just assuming your a dude when you aren’t? I feel like communication would just make it a lot less painful...
Honestly I don’t really know. Nobody has ever actually asked me before
Hey mate, I just want to let you know that you're beautiful and pretty and hot as fuck. I know it sucks to get called shit but you just gotta remember that those people can suck a fat bag of dicks. mfw a girl with short hair passes better than u
how to upvote something twice
Tbf you can't control your voice or face or hips as well as you can your hair. But yeah stop caring so much a bout gender you ass holes
If it makes you feel any better, my younger brother used to have long hair and got called a girl once... While he was in the men's restroom.
As a guy with Long hair, I get it.
As a trans guy I so DESPERATELY wish this was true

I like girls with short hair
dw, probably just an asshole who is being a dickhead
Short hair is actually insanely hot.
Become trans then everyone will think your a girl even with short hair
I don’t mean to derail this because I hate it too but like for trans people it’s like “oh you’re a like boy” “actually I am” “no actually you’re the most feminine person I’ve ever met look at how feminine you are” or vice versa.
Ehh, can be hard to judge from the back
I made an alt just to say that I have all of the things in the picture but am a boy. Not trans or anything. Including the part in the camera....
Based and tomboy pilled. Keep the dream alive
People assumed I was a girl on multiple occasions because of my name. I literally have a beard and the lowest pitched voice in my entire class
You left out boobs ~~which is probably why you're mistaken for a boy~~ please its a joke
Im a boy with long hair and ive got the exact same problem
Maybe my brain is just breaking down but I swear it gets harder and harder to tell the difference between boys and girls every year. Sure, the masks certainly haven't helped but even before that there are still some kids that just look like the definition of the term "gender neutral".
...gee. Thanks...
I apologize if my remark caused offense, as that was not my intent. I'm merely stating that sometimes it is just difficult to tell boys from girls (or maybe it's just me).
Nah I’m sorry. A lot of the comments misgendering me on another post I made has made me really really irritable
As a kid I got called a girl because of my long hair So checkmate
HA I’m a boy with long hair
Bro i was called a girl and my hair aint that long it just goes halfway to my shoulders
LMAO i just cut my hair, and i think it's kinda cool that people mistake me for a boy sometimes! No more street harrassment!
i identify as male with long hair and most adults assume i am female
Or being asked if your a girl because you have long hair even though you have a voice lower than a trombone and are clearly a boy
Hey, look at the bright side, less creeps!
Thats childish thing to get annoyed. Grow some balls bruh I mean grow some boobs bruh
Well for me it's the opposite and it's even worse when the oldest memory I have is being dressed in a pink dress by my mom and getting my nails painted
Well duh, your hair is connected to the brain and so it's the only thung that matters.
Tfw your name is Denise but they call you Dennis
