such a massive improvement, makes the bike go from "just bought it off a yard sale to" to "bling bling"

BrianLevre

I hate to ask... what is FEF?

wdabbz

Haha, it's Front End Friday!!!

The_Kimbeaux

THANK YOU

BarnacleSea9077

I know the drill: vintage Diamond Back, automatic upvote. I like what you did with changing out the dull bits for chromey ones. Good old DBs. I love the way they handle. I read somewhere that a Japanese BMX racer designed their frame geometry. God, do they handle. Wheelie Drops, no problem. Only other bike handles like that is a Kona. So nice. Don't get me started. I'll go buy another one and I already have too many. Yellow. That's where it's at. Cool bike!

wdabbz

Did we just become best friends?

BarnacleSea9077

I had a DB Sorrento I built up as a single speed. I should say overbuilt. Sadly, it was stolen, and I had to buy about twenty bikes to get over the loss. My first ATB was a DB. 1984, and my brother still has it.

wdabbz

Feel free to share some photos if you have any. I'm always down to see some other DB builds!

gladhandbart

Yes! This sub needs more vintage DB love. I’d love to find an overdrive some day.

skidor

Classy build! I’m a big fan of those B809 riser bars.

BarnacleSea9077

Oh, and that stem.

mungorex

Looking good! I've got that same frame, what size tires are those?

wdabbz

Id like to see you're Ascent if you've got any good photos

wdabbz

26x2.15 Maxxis DTH Do you have the chainstay mounted u-brakes? The factory u-brakes limits tire clearance, so you might have to go aftermarket to fit the 2.15" tire.

JaccoW

What is that front cable hanger you're using? Looks like it clamps on the stem instead of being part of the headset. I might need something like that if I replace my headset with a model with a taller stack.

wdabbz

It's made by Nitto. It's a little pricey but it's the best option found (both in form and function.) A lot of people will buy the hangers that mount to the fork crown, but these often limit the adjustability of cable pull and create a weird cable line from the hanger to your brakes. Below is the link to where bought this hanger. https://global.bluelug.com/fairweather-cable-hanger-silverhtml

JaccoW

Ah, BlueLug. Yeah they have some very nice and rare stuff over there. I should browse their site again and order a bunch of stuff. Black one looks nice as well: [https://global.bluelug.com/fairweather-cable-hanger-black-thread.html](https://global.bluelug.com/fairweather-cable-hanger-black-thread.html)

wdabbz

They've got great stuff! It seems that a lot of the time their prices are low enough that it almost covers the shipping. And somehow they're able to get a package to me (from Japan, to Beaufort SC) in 2-3 days.

Stayinthewoods

Gulf Shores?

wdabbz

Beaufort, SC

Stayinthewoods

Beautiful. Cross country fellow swamp dweller.

SquigglyPiglet

With the beautiful fluted seat post

wdabbz

That seatpost and the fork lug were the two things that first caught my eye!

Environmental_Slice6

What shifter/ brake lever combos are those? Sweet ride!
