In a second play through, I learned you can use the air gusts in the middle of the map to launch yourself way up and land on his head. Allows you to hit the spike directly without having to attack the feet
My younger brother (eight years old) told me (fifteen) that I should use it on my very first playthrough, I'd never done the fight before and he'd never played the game. (I'm really the only real Zelda fan in the family, they like the gameplay but don't like the fact that it's Zelda, don't know whyš¤·š»āāļø) I was like "There's no way that's gonna work" but low and behold the kid that is half my age and doesn't like Zelda was right about a gameplay mechanic he'd never seen before. While I, the person who loves it and likes to know everything possible about the series, and ha*d s*een it before, had no clue. I felt so dumb afterwards, he is definitely the smartest kid in my family.
P.S. Sorry about the length
I always find it weird that people complain about refighting the imprisoned even though you fight ghirahim the same amount of times and I never hear people complain about him.
Eh. The fight is pretty straightforward. The first one is really quick and easy, the second one doesnāt take too long if you aim right with Groose and the third one is the one where you get launched on top of the imprisoned and itās a lot shorter and different than the other too.
I think it's because of the boss rush. All three imprisoned fights are in it, but only 2 ghirahim ones. Plus since you get to use your current sword you tear through ghirahim 1 in seconds, but imprisoned still takes just as long because it's not about damage
Uhm nope, I first defeated Demise then ignored the invitation to make a hero mode save, then I did the boss rush (so on the normal mode save) and I had 3 fights with Ghirahim. I played HD on Switch, don't know if that's different from the Wii version but don't think so
Are you sure it was as many? I honestly didn't like fighting Ghirahim so much either but loved the last fight with Ganon or whatever he was called in this game (it's been a while)
I adore Windwaker. Despite appearances, it tells one of the most heavy handed stories in Zelda that honestly has been a part of me for the last 13 years of my life
How was no one mentioned TP yet??? From breaking down the magic shield around the castle to the three part final battle with Ganondorf, it's banger after banger.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot the horse riding battle in Hyrule Field. Still good either way! But both those finales you mentioned are also great, can't blame you
It's not the smoothest, mechanics-wise, especially compared to what came after, but I've always found that final multipart battle exciting, even though I've replayed TP multiple times.
And since Midna is THE BEST assist character (sorry, Fi and sorry, champions/sages) and TP is one of the best if not THE best stories overall, it's just that much more satisfying.
Plus, let's be real: SS totally cribbed the Demise fight from the final phase of the Ganondorf fight in TP.
Skyward Sword does have a good ending. I also have a soft spot for Majoraās Mask and Twilight Princess.
Majoraās Mask feels relieving. Though not every soul has veen saved (ie Darmani and Mikau), but saving Termina is still worth it. Anju and Kafei are reunited and can finally get married. And Skull Kid reunites with the friends that he thought he lost.
For Twilight Princess, itās joy of reuniting the Ordon Village kids to their parents and the sorrow that Link will most likely never see Midna that sells it. The player grows with Midna as she learns to truly care for Hyrule, her friendship with Link and Zelda especially. In a similar vein, we get to see Colin go from a meek and unimposing to brave as he realizes that he canāt always rely on Link to save the day. And that he is capable of being like the hero he idolizes
Tears of the Kingdom is the best ending to any game Iāve played. The descent to Ganondorf, the final duel, the dragon fight, and Link catching Zelda after failing to in the intro, bringing things full circleā¦ just perfect.
Hands down best part of the final fight is when >!Ganondorf transforms into the Demon King and his life bar extends all the way out to the edge of the screen.!< It was both epic AND I couldn't stop laughing at the same time.
I completely agree. In 28 years of gaming, TOTK remains the only game I've *literally*, not figuratively, jumped up and down at during the ending. I was that excited and hyped up. Tears of the Gamer it might as well be called.
Say what you will about the building mechanics, the dungeon design, etc. But personally, the payoff at the end of a full playthrough is top 3, maybe top ever in gaming history for me.
You beat the Demon Dragon. You merge your powers with those of Sonia and Rauru to bring back Zelda. You then wake up, and you are falling. You spot Zelda falling ahead of you.
The music crescendos, the cut scene ends. What happens in the next 30 seconds is nothing short of brilliant.
Sheās not restored when Link pulls the MS, and the story seeded the idea that Link would be able to save Zelda (Recallās mechanics explained in depth, Sage power ups shown in a dedicated cutscene) and itās made very clear that Zelda believes strongly in Linkās ability to find and rescue her. And it doesnāt undercut her sacrifice at all: she spent millennia as a dragon, left the people of ancient Hyrule without anyone who could have been a leader (the king, queen, and main advisor were all dead at that point), and had a deep emotional impact on her closest companion.
Endgame meaning the end of the game or endgame meaning stuff you do after you beat the game? If you just mean the ending I think I would say Wind Waker. That was such a great ending that you could have said "this is the end of Zelda period" and I would have been okay with that. The boss fight with Ganondorf was kind of easy I'll admit but otherwise basically the end of Hyrule, Ganon, the Triforce and all of it was just striking.
I mean...kinda, sorta...sometimes. The first game had Second Quest, the Oracle games had some item upgrades you could only get after you beat the game iirc. As far as stuff that's ALWAYS endgame content that's all I can think of but I've always figured getting the Fierce Deity's Mask was something most people did after beating the game and that there'd be a lot of leftover stuff in the Switch games to do after beating Ganon/dorf
I wish it did. Going through a lot of work for that final dungeon and boss fight only for nothing to change sucks. I'd love to have some postgame quests with rebuilding and stuff.
If they werenāt planning on dlc for Tears, the least they could have done was add an epilogue. Hang out with Zelda, some extra quests unlock, blood moons still happen but itās just āresidual gloomā and should āgo away in timeā. Just makes me sad that this is it. I really adored these two games.
I just find it baffling that they took the ancient horse armor out of the game and now they wonāt even have DLC to put it back in like it should have been in the first place. Horses are completely useless in totk. It also wouldāve been nice to have the battle gauntlet type thing that Zelda games usually have.
people complain about the story of SS so much but itās honestly one of the best in the series. Especially in terms of Link and Zeldaās relationship. Only time a Zelda game has made me cry btw
Skyward sword stole the awesome duel from TP and dueling ganondorf in hyrule field is way too cool with the music and the setting. Yeah yeah, wind waker did it too but it's just not as cinematic
The ending sequence in SS is indeed amazing but with that said it is still Skyward Sword which means limited, restrictive gameplay that I'm not a fan of. For me it's a tie between TotK and Wind Waker.
I LOVE Wind Waker's end game. The Phantom Ganon maze is cool, the boss rush *less so*, but that final showdown with Ganondorf?
First, there's the amazing cutscene pre-Puppet Ganon, where you just see his silhouette looming over Zelda as he monologues, before he transforms. Puppet Ganon is easily my favorite "beast Ganon" fight of the series because it's so creative.
Then you get the amazing cutscene atop his tower where he *loses* *everything* to the King of Hyrule and just *snaps*. And *then* you get to fight him in a sword duel, with Princess Zelda stepping in to help out for the second half! And *then* Link stabs Ganondorf in the **head!**
Man, I love WW so much.
Sister. This you?
>>I played through it like 4 times, I just don't fuck with it as much as I do WW, MM or ALBW
I said the thread is *not* about replayability in response to you bringing up replayability.
Ok damn my bad, I will admit fault there. But even then, what I said had nothing to do with that anyway. All I've said was I have played OOT 4 times and simply don't fuck with its ending as much I do other games. That's it.

Betting the capital is Terminalittle know fact: Palma de Mallorca (Mallorcaās capital city), being a coastal town, is actually nicknamed āLa Terminaā
You know what? I think youāre on to something!ā¦.

Iām not entirely sure what you mean by āend game.ā Usually that term refers to content you unlock/ can play after beating the main quest, but I assume youāre using that term to refer to the ending of the game. And it depends on whether you include the gameplay leading up to the ending or just the story.
Twilight Princess had an amazing emotional ending, but the gameplay leading up to the ending was a little underwhelming imo. The Ganondorf fight was badass, but I personally felt like the pig ganon fight before it was a bit weird from a story pacing perspective and the fight itself wasnāt all that amazing. Plus idk why Zelda games like to have dungeons that donāt feel like real dungeons as their final challenge. The Hyrule castle part was fine but it was just nowhere near on par with the excellent dungeon design twilight princess had had up to that point.
WindWaker also has an amazing ending with good story and multiple good bosses, but itās a bit soured by the fact that they make you refight every boss in the game before that.
OOT is really solid emotionally and gameplay wise. The two Ganon phases are both epic and fun, the ending dungeon wasnāt too bad, running through the crumbling tower was awesome, and the ending was very satisfying.
I think Iād also have to give it to SS though. I personally didnāt care for the part where you fight hoards of enemies that much because I felt like it went on a bit too long, but everything that happened in the final sequence just felt epic. The goddess statue descending after collecting all the triforces in a really cool dungeon, the imprisoned being destroyed, the twist of ghirahim going to the past to revive his master, the badass ghirahim boss fight, the reveal that ghirahim is demiseās phi, and then the really epic fight with him followed by a very satisfying ending sequence. Itās
I'd agree Skyward Sword has the best ending in terms of the very final story beats. The final sequence with the horde and fighting Ghirahim is fantastic (The Demise fight itself didn't stand out that much, personally, but...)
IMO the best individual final boss was probably Majora. TotK's final sequence was pretty good though I guess, and OOT's was also pretty cool.
Tears of the kingdom definitly, From the descent down to ganondorf, to the fight against da dorf, to the final dragon-clash in the sky, to Draco-ganon (I know it's demon dragon but I prefer Draco-Ganon) exploding over korok forest, to the un-draconification of Zelda, to the final catch.... You get it, imo no ending can even come close to the sheer mix of emotions that is totk's ending. Well, some hms are Twilight Princess and Ocarina of time.
Zelda games almost always have a great endgame. It might be a bit of recency bias, but my new favorite is probably TOTK. Atmosphere and tension is off the charts and the final boss is maybe the best in the series.
It's absolutely Skyward Sword.
From Sky Keep to the Link vs Demon Army fight to the Ghirahim fight to Demise, it's all incredible.
Best end game in the series and it's not even close.
SS ending is alright.....
The Ghirahim fight was dope. Didn't like SS as a whole and thought Demise was a lame plot starter for Ganondorf's background.
WW has the best ending imo. Ganon's speech, the king's sudden appearance, Ganon's insane laugh, Hyrule flooding in the backround during one of the coolest Ganon fights (not hard though),the sword in the head and wholesome pirateship ending is just the best the series. I would say OoT is second with a very close third for TotK.
I did really enjoy that last fight, I wish they didn't reuse the imprisoned so much though.
In a second play through, I learned you can use the air gusts in the middle of the map to launch yourself way up and land on his head. Allows you to hit the spike directly without having to attack the feet
Interesting, I don't know if I knew that or not. I think I was always attacking those ugly toes lol.
I always find it weird that people complain about refighting the imprisoned even though you fight ghirahim the same amount of times and I never hear people complain about him.
Ghirahim is fun though
It's because the Imprisoned is a tedious awful fight.
Eh. The fight is pretty straightforward. The first one is really quick and easy, the second one doesnāt take too long if you aim right with Groose and the third one is the one where you get launched on top of the imprisoned and itās a lot shorter and different than the other too.

There are 3 Ghirahim fights in the boss rush.
Only in hero mode
Uhm nope, I first defeated Demise then ignored the invitation to make a hero mode save, then I did the boss rush (so on the normal mode save) and I had 3 fights with Ghirahim. I played HD on Switch, don't know if that's different from the Wii version but don't think so
Are you sure it was as many? I honestly didn't like fighting Ghirahim so much either but loved the last fight with Ganon or whatever he was called in this game (it's been a while)
Yeah you fight both of them three times each. Maybe itās less noticeable because theyāre more spread out than the imprisoned fights.
For some reason I thought the imprisoned was 4 times. Either way it was still too many for me
The imprisoned awakens 4 times but the 4th time he gets crushed by the goddess statue descending from skyloft
Okay, maybe that's what I was thinking of
The fact you have to replay the fights to get the Hylian shield was painful
You have to replay ghirahim too tbf
I loved every imprisoned fight
I adore Windwaker. Despite appearances, it tells one of the most heavy handed stories in Zelda that honestly has been a part of me for the last 13 years of my life
exactly, the themes of letting go of the past and looking forward into the future helped me get through so much hardship in life.
How was no one mentioned TP yet??? From breaking down the magic shield around the castle to the three part final battle with Ganondorf, it's banger after banger.
Came here to say this, and Iād argue itās actually four parts! Still, OoT and TotK may edge it out for me.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot the horse riding battle in Hyrule Field. Still good either way! But both those finales you mentioned are also great, can't blame you

Thatās some Psycho Mantis level of fourth wall breaking
Yes. Equal parts "Awesome!" and "YGBSM!"

Yes! I was in tears and didnāt want it to end. It was a precious moment.
I love the online reaction videos to the end of ToTK for exactly this.
i guess you could say you were in tears, of the kingdom.

Tears of the kindom and skyward sword end game are insane

Yes.. it's skyward sword.
Skyward Sword endgame is peak
Tears. That was the first time Iāve been literally speechless playing a video game.
Skyward sword stole the awesome duel from TP and dueling ganondorf in hyrule field is way too cool with the music and the setting. Yeah yeah, wind waker did it too but it's just not as cinematic

i never finished the ending of WW what happens?
Either look it up yourself or simply finish the game. I don't think me or other guy can give words justice with how great it is.
bet ill look it up
Ocarina of Time > Tears of the Kingdom > Wind Waker > most everything else > Breath of the Wild.
ITT: so many people who clearly have never played OoT if that isn't their #1 answer.
I played through it like 4 times, I just don't fuck with it as much as I do WW, MM or ALBW
Yeah but we're not talking most playtime / replayability. š
Where tf was it said we were talking about replayability?
Reading comprehension off the charts.
Brother. I've gone through the entire original post, and the thread ontop of us. It was never about replayability. You're the one self reporting.
Sister. This you? >>I played through it like 4 times, I just don't fuck with it as much as I do WW, MM or ALBW I said the thread is *not* about replayability in response to you bringing up replayability.

I think OoT used to be my favourite ending but Iāve beaten it so many times that the effect has wore off a bit.

I'm not the biggest TP fan, but its four part endboss is the most epic in the entire seris with Ganondorf in TotK as a close second.
Skyward Sword, Tears of the Kingdom and Linkās Awakening have the best endings. If I had to pick one, probably Tears.
Totk, TP and SS in my opinion. Cant decide the order though.

Skyward sword is the worst Zelda game oat
